'Ugh where am I?' (Y/n) was woken up by something dropping on top of his head. The bright sun shot into his eyes causing him to cover them immediately. He looked at his hands, seeing cuffs around his wrist. 'Am I wearing a suit?' looking around he was at the edge of a forest, leaning against a tree. There was also a book beside him. "Where am I?"
He was dressed very formally to be laying on the ground. The last thing he remembered reading was it called again? Right, it was Villains Are Destined To Die, one of his female friends introduced it to him. But figuring out what he was doing before he was brought to this strange place... doesn't help at all.
"Where the fuck am I?" He asked himself. Sitting up he saw a mansion in the near distance.
"Master, you're in the garden." An old man spoke from beside him. The Master part made (Y/n) confused, but he was also sure he was the only one around, and seeing the old man bow to him and answer his question, made him think he was the Master.
"Umm sir I think you misunderstood, I'm just a college student." Trying to connect the dots in his mind, (Y/n) only felt confusion. Deciding, in the end, to just say the truth.
"Master, are you feeling alright? You're the (L/n) mansion, we were getting packed to go to the Second Prince's birthday banquet." The old man spoke, his head still down, almost as if he was scared to interact with (Y/n).
"Sir, can you tell me what my name is?"
"Master's name is (Y/n) (L/n), why does Master ask?"
"Nothing, nothing" 'That was such a suspicious question, good job (Y/n).'
"Well, shall we go get ready for the banquet?" (Y/n) said, remembering what the old man said.
"Of course, Master."
"You can lead the way, sir."
"Of course, and please just call me Dan." Dan said, walking towards the mansion.
Walking into the luxurious house, (Y/n) was led to what he assumed was his room. People were inside there seeming to be waiting for his arrival. Once he stepped inside the room, what looks to be butlers, started to undress him, they already have his clothes on the bed.
It was way too fancy for a poor college student. 'I was about to graduate as well, oh god...' Suddenly remembering his school he couldn't help but cry inside. 'This is my life not I guess, but still where am I? Have to ask Dan about it later.' Just thinking to himself they were already finished with the gown he's going to wear to whoever this second Prince is. It didn't take long for them to dress (Y/n) up but it sure felt great to wear something so fancy.
Walking to the carriage and getting on, (Y/n) sat down as Dan walked away, "Wait, sir Dan, care to sit with me?" Dan seemed surprised by the suggestion but it seemed to be ordered so he didn't reject it and got on with (Y/n) and sat in front of him. "I have a few questions on why the second Prince invited me."
"The second Prince has invited every noble to join his banquet, including you Master. Although we live a bit far away he still wishes for us to come, here's the letter if you're still wondering about the details, Master." Dan said not questioning anything and gave (Y/n) the letter.
Letter:
This shall be the formal letter to the (Y/n) (L/n) for the invasion of my banquet. Since you live far away I have decided to invite you to live in the castle until the day after the banquet, everything will be prepared accordingly."
Regulus
'Regulus...REGULUS!?' (Y/n) didn't pay much attention to the storyline but the artwork of the manhwa was incredible, the names of the main characters stuck with him, so has he been transported into that manhwa similar to the main character? Deciding to test the waters a bit, he asked about a few characters, Dan seemed to know much as he was quite old and wise, he must know something. "Will I meet Penelope there...?" Dan bought the bait.
"Dir do you mean Penelope Eckhart, sir? I believe the Eckhart family have been invited." Suddenly (Y/n) felt nervous, so he was playing a character that didn't exist in the manhwa or was mentioned in the novel. Much less have the same name...but that might also be because he created a new character, there were no other names so they just went with his name. Rubbing his forehead, (Y/n) felt a headache coming on. This was all so confusing. How did Penelope get used to it so quickly?
"Sir, I believe you will also see your friend at the banquet." Dan spoke, he seemed to lose focus on reality for a moment.
"Who?"
"The Crown Prince Callisto Regulus, Master." (Y/n) suddenly had a bad feeling about this entire thing. He was in the manhwa, but unlike Penelope who can die at any moment and need a relationship meter, he was a background character. But since he was friends with Callisto Regulus will that man remember him? Oh god... Callisto Regulus was known to be a psychopath and they were friends? Even if they have never met? Nor was this (Y/n) ever mentioned in the manhwa or novel.
'I'm going to bang my head on this carriage until I get an excuse to not go, but if I'm a Master and not a young Master, that means I must be the only one left in my family and I have already inherited everything from this unknown father of mine.' Going down to a deeper rabbit hole, (Y/n) kept hitting his head on the walls of the carriage softly to not cause too much damage to his brain.
'It might damage my reputation if I don't go, especially if the second Prince himself sends me the letter and has done so much just to get me there. There has to be a motive to his schemes as he and his mother try to kill Callisto, what is with this...' (Y/n) crosses his legs and leads his hand on the carriage, getting into a thinking position. 'But there's also this off chance where Callisto won't remember me as he seems busy in the book.'
'And also, should I reveal myself to Penelope? Since we both reincarnated into this world? No that won't work...people might suspect me to be some weirdo as Penelope's reputation during the banquet was still bad. I don't run by a game system so that means everything applies to me automatically.'
It was then did he realize how calm he was talking about the situation. It didn't feel odd to be in this position rather it feels as if this was just...another him but in this world. Looking out the window, the sky was a beautiful light blue with white fluffy clouds. It wasn't like he won't see the sky but this just felt different, might be because this is a fantasy world but it still felt magical.
"How long is it going to take to get to the castle?"
"One day sir, we will arrive a day before the banquet so we can get the most out of leaving the mansion, and we will stay for a few days for the festival."
"Great..."
(Y/n) didn't realize when he fell asleep but they were already at the gate of the castle when Dan woke him up.
"Master, it's time to wake up, we've arrived. The servants will get your clothing for the banquet and the stay." Dan spoke as he stepped out of the carriage and waited until (Y/n) got off.
(Y/n) was still a bit sleepy but upon facing the second Prince he was immediately jolted awake. They were very pretty, and handsome. He remembers some courtesy gestures from some other novels so he just copied what was done in those novels. Bowing down a bit from his waist, (Y/n) put his right hand to the spot near his heart. "It's an honor for the Queen and Prince to invite me for this banquet."
"You may stand." The Prince was surprised by (Y/n)'s demeanor to be so overwhelmingly elegant, "We're glad to have you, Lord (L/n)." (Y/n) stood back up as he tried to not crack under the pressure of meeting royals, characters or not they can ruin you in seconds.
'I must be quite the figure for the Prince and Queen to personally come to greet me, I'll figure it out later.'
"The guard shall show you the room you will temporarily stay in." They turned around and walked away, a guard behind them bowed and started to lead them to where the room they will stay in.
Unbeknownst to (Y/n), red eyes watched their interaction from a window above.
After setting in for a bit, (Y/n) decided to explore the town, he didn't exactly feel the best in this place as...well it's better to blend in than stand out. "Dan I'll go out and be back around midnight, no need for guards."
"Of course Master." Dan easily accepted this, he knew his master well enough to handle himself, but he seemed to need some alone space as he seemed to be nervous on the carriage. (Y/n) walked down the busy streets, no one seemed to know who he was. It seems like he doesn't visit this city most of the time and was probably forgotten in the dust. Not the average person at least.
Once noticing people walking to the two sides of the street he followed them as well since he wasn't wearing anything to cover his identity, still not used to being a Lord of some kind. Since he was near the middle of the street he had to be fully presented to the carriage as people whispered around him. He just thought the carriage would walk past them without any worrying, just a normal carriage. (Y/n) was just about to walk away when the carriage stopped in front of him, thinking it was for someone else that was not mentioned in the story he continued to walk.
But much to his dismay, the person who was on the carriage was following him. (Y/n) stopped and looked towards the young man, noticing a familiar face once again...
'Is that fucken Derrick Eckhart? Why is he staring at me so intensely? Does he recognize me? I'll just walk away, I'm not here, I'm not here.' (Y/n) turned around but the voice froze him on the spot. The citizens moved slightly away from Derrick as they didn't want to look at his icy look.
"Lord (L/n), please," he quickly walked over to (Y/n) who stood still but much to (Y/n)'s surprise. Derrick didn't look at him like he did to Penelope in the story, well it makes sense since he wasn't her but it was still surprising. "I didn't know you were here." He seemed generally interested in (Y/n)'s business.
"I got invited by the second Prince for his birthday banquet." (Y/n) answered professionally, he was too nervous to act casually.
"I see, still a man of few words. Will you be staying for the festival after?" Derrick asked (Y/n) as they still walked down the street.
"Likely, unless something happens." 'Which the Eckhart's scene would happen and you run around like you lost your mind trying to find her.' (Y/n) glanced at Derrick's face seeing a slight disappointment.
'Are we friends or something what the fuck is that expression?'
"Do you wish for me to stay?"
"Yes, it's been a long time since you've visited." (Y/n) froze from Derrick's, just what the hell is he? Both noticing the carriage still following him and people getting annoyed, he decided to go to Eckhart's mansion. "Let's go to the mansion, father also wants to meet you after getting the notification you were here."
Getting onto the Eckhart's carriage (Y/n) sat in front of Derrick. They didn't speak much until they arrived at the mansion, it seemed to be around the same size as his. Getting off the carriage he followed Derrick until they reached Lord Eckhart's office.
*Knock knock*
"Father, I have brought him here."
"Come in."
When (Y/n) walked into the room his eyes immediately darted to the girl with the magenta hair. Lord Eckhart must have noticed and told the girl to leave. (Y/n) wanted to mess with her a bit, in the book her story was too smooth, a smart one, he wanted to see if she would realize he was also sent into this world.
'No, I shouldn't mess around, there are other people here.' (Y/n) didn't even look at her as she left with a curious look at him.
"Lord (L/n), it's good to see you again." Eckhart's said inviting (Y/n) to sit on the sofa nearby, which (Y/n) took.
"Don't think too much about my visit, I came only for the second Prince's banquet." Putting his acting face on, even though he was sweating quite a bit, (Y/n) sat there cross-legged as Derrick stood beside his father who was sitting on the opposite sofa in front of (Y/n).
"Of course, Lord (L/n), I understand you're a busy man but I only wish I had seen you earlier."
"I understand, Lord Eckhart, it has been a while."
The two talked a bit more, about nothing much really and things were getting awkward as (Y/n) was getting more and more nervous by the second, he didn't really answer the questions about the business and just pushed the answer off to the side saying it was doing fine, have no idea what he was talking about.
"I should go, lord Eckhart, I wouldn't want to disturb your work. Plus I promised my butler to return by midnight and I would like to explore the city more." Eckhart agreed and soon Derrick and (Y/n) walked out of the office, (Y/n) almost let out a sigh of relief. If not for Reynold to walk over, his pink hair was unmistakable.
"Is this father's friend?" Reynold asked, approaching the two.
"This is Lord (L/n)."
(Y/n) never realized how odd it was to be referred to by his last name all the time. "Lord (L/n)? Never heard of him." Reynold said rudely. Seeing Derrick was about to scold him (Y/n) stopped him just in time.
"It's alright, I should go back to my walk then get back to the castle." Reynold feels as if he has offended someone big.
"I shall see you two at the banquet."
Leaving as quickly as he came, (Y/n) went back to the castle, somehow the guards remembered his face to let him back inside.
*A days later*
"This is even fancier than before." The clothes brought out a mysterious vibe. Walking down the halls, following a guard to the banquet room, feeling confident in new clothes, psychological effect probably. He looked around in the night sky. The guard opened the door for him as he walked inside. 'This is it, the scene where the body gets dragged in...ugh blood'
"Announcing the master of the (L/n) mansion, (Y/n) (L/n)." Suddenly getting the attention on him he was quite unused to. People came to greet him but he soon ended the conversation now knowing how to answer exactly. He was left alone after, good for him since he doesn't have to answer questions he doesn't know the answers to.
Soon he was able to notice Penelope standing there alone, how much can he mess with the story before he's also killed? (Y/n) wonders but it seems like the second Prince and the Queen have arrived, he bows along with the rest of the group.
"Everybody may rise now, I thank you all for attending my birthday banquet in the midst of the days. It is a modest event but I hope that you all enjoy your time here."
(Y/n) smirked knowing what was going to happen.
