Five Hargreeves moved down the steps of the academy with ease and calmness. He glided his pale hand down the dark brown wooden railing as he took in the sights and viewings he was so used to when he was a kid.

Number Five regretted time traveling to the apocalypse for many reasons. One of them being that he left his family; his rock. He wouldn't admit it, but he missed them all the time while there. They may be a massive pain in his ass most of the time, but Five was a huge sucker at heart. He needed them in his life or he wouldn't be able to live with himself.

Another would be the voice in his head of Reginald Hargreeves telling him "I told you so" because his father did tell him so. He was naïve and incompetent to have believed in himself or even thought he was ready at such that young and inexperienced age.

He wasn't at all and we all knew that.

Last would be ending on terrible terms with Y/n.

He would never admit this, but in the apocalypse—Five Hargreeves built his siblings out of rocks and large bags of sand he found and positioned them as if they were having a simple conversation or making plans for stopping bad guys as they did many times before in one of their rooms to on missions.

He would set Delores in his wagon as it was perched to the far left side of him, and hold a note pad and pencil in hand as he read out scenarios of break-ins, robberies, or kidnappings. He'd state what each sibling was supposed to do, where they were supposed to go, and how they were supposed to take care of everything. He even made a job for Viktor which was to aid and make sure everyone was alright at the end.

One of the times he set up the rocks and sand bags was when he tried apologizing to the real Y/n, but performed it to rock Y/n.

A written apology, that was jotted down on a burnt piece of paper and was written with a surprisingly non-burnt pencil he found, that he read aloud to the girl.

When he arrived in twenty nineteen, the apology immediately left his mind for good. He didn't mentally prepare to say it to the real Y/n, only physically, and blanked—going back to his usual angry, sorted-out demeanor.

Five Hargreeves always knew liked Y/n Beaumont.

Not always romantically as he does now, but more as a friend earlier in his life. He realized he liked her romantically one night when they were thirteen.

The two were laying in Fives bed staring up blankly at the ceiling as they talked about anything. Hargreeves wasn't home, but away on a business trip so they could do anything imaginable.

Luther and Allison were together, Diego, Ben, and Klaus snuck out to the donut shop to finish a competition and come home puking, and Viktor was sound asleep in his bed.

Silence ran over the room as the conversation had ended moments ago and they were just enjoying each other's presence.

They didn't complain about that nothingness, don't get it wrong, but the silence was relaxing to them.

Five looked over to his left to see Y/n staring at the ceiling in a full daydream. He could practically hear the screws turning in her head as a scenario or made-up movie rolled through her mind.

He watched as the corner of her lips twitched softly, her head tilting as she thought of something else, and her eyes blinked softly. The rubbing of her lips made him look down at the sight which made him look all over her face again then turn back on his back with a smile.

Yep.

Five looking at her face made him slowly have feelings.

The days after went on as he kept getting nervous around her. The feelings grew more and more as he tried to deny to himself that he had any romantic tendencies toward his best friend. He wanted to keep himself calm most times, but it never worked. She would scrunch her nose, smile, or do anything and best believe the boy would turn into a freshly picked cherry.

Y/n found it weird, but also funny.

She didn't think for a minute that one of her best friends would fall into a state of likeness, more than a friend type, with her.

The two would sneak friendly smiles and waves to each other sometimes throughout the day, and it was hilarious as the others were oblivious to it.

Well, except Klaus.

He knew what was happening because he always notices everything.

The time the two, Five and Y/n, made a blanket fort together in Y/n's room was when he got full confirmation of it being a true statement.

Klaus passed by her room to hear giggling and laughing as the two had fun with one another. He slowly opened the door as quietly as he could and looked through a crevice of the blankets to find them both laying beside each other as they stared into one another's eyes.

Klaus kept his squealing to a minimum as he knew they were probably about to kiss. He'd seen many romance movies—against his own will since Allison would force them all—but he'd taken the intense eye contact as they were about to hand down and fuck each other or kiss.

He knew that they weren't going to have sex since it would be too loud, so that left kissing one another.

Klaus needed to see this magical moment on replay and what not to do by taking a photo of the dear memory and keeping it in his collection.

That collection is of what his siblings have done and he would use the photos as blackmail or just for fun against them.

He slowly made his way out of the room but stepped on a wrong wooden plank and it squeaked loudly making him cringe.

Five scrunched his eyebrows and leaned up as Y/n turned her head around looking to the way where the sound came from. Klaus quickly ran out of the room as if he was Jack Sparrow and made his way to his room, closing the door as he mentally slapped himself in the face for being such an idiot.

He never brought up the occurrence to the two, but he swore to himself that he'd use it on them at least one day.

He had forgotten a few months later, but it's sure still floating around somewhere in that inappropriate brain of his.

Five turned the corner as he walked toward the kitchen to smell a well-baked breakfast and coffee. That made him speed up his pace a bit faster because the drink he smelt wasn't just normal coffee . . . but black coffee.

Five reached the final set of stairs and turned to the last left that lead into the kitchen to see almost everyone already awake and surrounding the table eating breakfast.

Luther looked up and noticed his brother. "Morning, Five," he spoke with food in his mouth and everyone cringed.

They all groaned. "Uh! Luther!" the whole table ridiculed him as the man now closed his mouth and finished chewing.

Y/n stood up from her spot in a new outfit that she'd stolen from yet another store and headed toward the counter to place her plate in the sink. This outfit contains of f/o with f/s and some jewelry and rings that went along with it.

Five recognized the smell from earlier and immediately headed toward the table and moved closer to the group. "Is that black coffee?"

Fei nodded. "Yeah. Grace made it since Marcus was the only one who drank coffee in the house."

Five moved his hand in the direction of the coffee filler and grabbed an empty cup, slowly filling it up before tasting it. He hummed in adoration and sat down in the empty seat that was to the left of Y/n.

Y/n came back to her seat which was to the left of Mace and held a/an f/d in her hand that Grace kindly made for her and began to sip it. "Hmm!" she noticed Five and exclaimed, not making any eye contact. "Looks who's awake?"

Mace chuckled as he bit a piece of bacon. "Thought you were dead."

Y/n grabbed the piece of bacon from her brother's hand, ripping a small bit off of where he just a bit, and threw it on the table, soon taking a bite of it and humming as she was satisfied. "Thanks, bro." Y/n stood up as her brother looked over at her with an annoyed looked.

"You bitch, that was my last piece!" Mace exclaimed as he threw his arm out.

Y/n placed the bacon in her mouth before flipping him off from behind and he threw on back at her then shook his head. "Girl always stealing my shit, like, come on." Mace put more food onto his plate and began to chow down.

Diego hummed as he shoved eggs into his mouth. "Five, you left quite early last night. What happened? Y/n told us that she went after you and—"

Five scoffed. "It's none of your business."

Viktor leaned forward as he sat opposite Five on the other side of the table. "We were just wondering, you know?"

Lila looked over at the boy and they met eye contact. "Five, let's talk for a minute, yeah?"

Five sighed, setting his coffee on the table, and stood up, reluctantly walking alongside the girl. They exited the kitchen and Lila spacial jumped them away, landing in a new location which was the hallway where the main rooms were located. "What do you want now, Lila?"

Lila crossed her arms and stood against a wall. "Did you tell her yet?"

Five stood silently as he poked his tongue into his cheek and looked around meaninglessly, trying to avoid the question.

Lila sighed. "Taking that as a no—"

Five rolled his eyes. "Why do you want me to tell her so badly anyway?"

Lila looked at him blemished. "Why do I want you to tell her so badly? Five, it's something she deserves to know. If you wait too long, then—"

Five put a hand out and interrupted her, "I can wait as long as I want, Lila. You're not the boss of me."

Lila sighed. "I'm not, I know that. Your moods change whenever you're around her and she's thinking that she's done something wrong. That's why she immediately left the room when she saw you."

Five thought back to the occurrence that just happened and the prices fit the puzzle.

She didn't even bat a glance but moved along with her life.

"She even went to me for advice last night before she went to bed, Five," added Lila. "She thinks she's ruining the relationship or some bullshit."

Five rolled his eyes with a sigh as he tried to move past Lila, but the girl wasn't having it. She pressed a hand to his chest and moved him back with force. The boy stumbled back as he tripped over his feet, but quickly found his balance.

"Five," she sighed after she said his name. "If the Kugelblitz doesn't end tonight, you must tell her."

Five moved her hand off of him. "And what if it does?"

Lila sighs. "Then, if you don't put your big boy panties on and get your dick straight, I'll tell Y/n you lo—"

A door opening to the right of the hallway caused them to turn their attention to Sloane who walked out of her room and widened her eyes as she noticed the deep energy that radiated off them.

"Oh," she realized and squeaked out. "Sorry," she bid as she moved passed them and down the hallway filled with embarrassment.

Lila moved away from the boy and crossed her arms, returning back to her original position. "We clear?"

Five braced a look at her before he looked down. "Fine." He spacial jumped away and Lila was left looking down at the empty space of where he just was.

Y/n and Mace walked down the sidewalk with slushes in their hands as the sun shined in the sky. Besides the burning buildings and soot flying around in the air, the two were having a good time.

They ventured around town as much as they could and talked with each other once again.

It felt as if they were young again.

The two would sneak out by themselves at a very very young age, despite the others knowing—and would go on their own adventures.

They went to their first movie theater at the age of ten when they saw the cinema as they passed by it coming home from one of Reginald's events. They ended up seeing Scary Movie which led the two to come home in laughter.

They loved horror, thriller, comedy, and action movies to the top and that movie happened to include many of the themes.

They recalled many memories of when they referenced it throughout the day to each other as inside jokes and the others would look at them with confused looks.

They wanted to do it more.

So that was their second stop.

After they went to get slushes, they headed over to a movie theater that was still, surprisingly, up and running. They ran inside the theater and Mace stood beyond with wide eyes.

"Holy shit," gasped Mace as he looked around.

Movie theaters looked way different in the late nineties than they did now in the present.

Mace moved over to the photos on the wall of what they were showing now and what was coming soon to theaters. "It's so different from when we were kids."

Y/n smiled as she saw her brother look at everything in awe. "I know, right? Even the movie theaters in the forties through sixties looked different. They change it up and also upgrade it from time to time."

Mace looked at the huge cardboard cut-out of a woman in a red outfit. Her dark brown skin covered her face beautifully as she held a mask with a brown glove that fit her so perfectly.

He peered down at the title to see the word Us in fancy handwriting and looked to the rating to see it was rated R.

That made him want to see it more.

"This one! Let's see this one!" Mace cheered as he pointed to the cut-out.

Y/n moved to his side and looked down at the cut-out, shrugging before she moved her eyes away but the creator's name caught her sight. "Jordan Peele. Oh, hell yes! His movies are so good!"

Y/n grabbed his hand and moved to the front of the check-in desk, standing behind a short line to see when the next showing was.

"Okay," Y/n spoke. "There's a showing at one ten. We can watch that then watch another movie since we'll have time because we have to be back at the academy by seven."

Mace nodded and looked at the theater number to read nine and grabbed his sister's arm, whisking them away.

They headed down the hallway that read theaters one through ten and set their eyes out for the number they were looking for. Moving down quickly as the movie was about to start any minute now, they finally found their theater, and the brother opened the door.

They raced up the stairs, moving to the dead-set middle, and sat down in their seats. The theater was quite empty and there were only a few people there. As the previews rolled by, the twins looked at each other.

"Ready?"

Y/n nodded. "Ready."

The two opened their jackets and a whole ton of candy piled out.

Seriously think their gonna waste a shit ton of money on movie theater candy?

They stole them from the same store they got the slushes from.

Yeah, they too broke for that as well as tickets which is why they movie hopped.

The previews slowly came to a close as the movie lights turned down, and the trailers soon started to begin. This gave them a rush of remembrance as they had flashbacks to the first time they saw a movie. A smile slowly crept up Y/n's face as she thought back to it, happily shaking her head as the thought vanished and her mind stayed on the movie.

☂︎

"Yeah, there's no way in history I'm going to listen to that song ever again," Mace spoke aloud to his twin as they exited the theater. He moved near a trash can and threw away his empty candy boxes and held the full ones that he had left over in his hand.

Y/n nodded in response. "Same here." She repeated his actions. "I mean, why make the song sound so creepy just for one movie. It'll probably take me a while to get adjusted to it, but that might be a long time." Y/n shriveled as chills went up her body as the melody played in her head which was to the song I Got 5 On It.

Mace chuckled as they moved down the hallway, looking at doors as they passed by. "Okay, how much time do we have?"

Y/n peered at her brother. "Well, the movie was about two hours long, so it's around three I'm guessing." Mace nodded at the details. "We could have time for one more."

Mace looked along the walls and a horror title caught his eye. "Ooh!" he rushed over to the door marked three in excitement. "Let's watch The Curse of La Llorona."

Y/n looked up at the title and shrugged. "Alright, sure." Mace smiled as he pulled open the door, letting Y/n go in first before him.

The two got there just in time as the trailers were ending and the movie was starting. The movie went by peacefully with jumpscares, storytelling, and the defeat of the evil spirit. Though the movie was supposed to be scary, Y/n and Mace came out laughing.

The door to the theater opened to the two siblings laughing aloud. Mace moved to the left side to throw their trash away as Y/n collected herself. "Shit! We need to watch that again."

Mace chuckled. "Hell yes! The girl getting air yeeted out of the door because she wanted her doll is one of the funniest things alive."

Y/n nodded in agreement. "Right!" They turned the left corner and made it to the lobby area where they stopped near the women's restroom. "There were so many things that little girl could've done, but messing up the sand had to be the easiest answer? Like, come on!"

Mace shook his head. "And don't forget the—"

"Rinsing!" they spoke at the same time as they started laughing again.

"Girl got waterboarded by who she thought was her mom!" Mace laughed aloud as small attention was pulled to them. "That was a great horror movie."

Y/n smiled. "Gotta agree with you on that. But, sadly, we've gotta get back." She looked out the glass windows to see the sun already setting and the area getting darker. "It's almost near six . . . ?" She searched around for a clock and found a digital one nailed up to a wall.

It read five forty-five, so that had time.

"How about we get food or something?" Mace suggested as he turned back to his sister after he read over the same clock she did.

Y/n shrugged. "Yeah, sure."

Just as they were walking toward the door, a young lady in her teens with blonde hair stepped behind them. "Hey! You two." Her hair was in a strict ponytail and her arms were crossed over her chest as she stood with a grin.

The twins turned around slowly and made eye contact with her. "Uh, yeah?"

The woman stepped forward and held a hand out. "May I see your tickets?"

Y/n scrunched her eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"Your tickets for the movies you both just watched," she filled in as she grinned sarcastically.

Mace chuckled as he let out an, "Uh. Well, we threw them away after we saw the films."

The lady, whose name tag read Olivia, stepped forward with a glare toward the boy. "I don't know why you think that you can come in here, all nice and without paying just because you're a part of the Sparrow Academy."

Y/n chocked on her own spit. "Oh, so that's what this is about?"

Olivia looked at the girl. "Don't think I asked you to speak, you nobody. I'm guessing you're only with him for the fame, huh?"

"No, way," Y/n thought to herself. "You're kidding me. She thinks I'm dating . . . my brother!" Y/n's mouth went agape as she heard the words come out of that woman's mouth.

Olivia smirked as she thought she did something. "You must love lying to him, hmm? You probably only want the mansion and everything, don't you? See honey—"

"Honey?" the twins blurted in each other's minds.

"I would never let this happen." Olivia smiled as she moved closer to Mace as grabbed his uniform blazer, but he abruptly pulled himself back.

"Get your hands off of him!" Y/n pushed the girl back and she gasped overdramatically.

"How dare you touch me?" Olivia looked over to Mace. "Aren't you gonna help me?"

Mace shook his head. "Oh, hell no. You're on your own. Come on, sis."

Blondie looked at Y/n with wide eyes. "Sis? She's your sister?"

Mace nodded. "Yeah. And that thing on top of your head is a monstrosity." Olivia gasped as she put her hands on her hair. "You walked in asking for "bleached and toned". Oh, hell no, bitch. That's corn on the cob."

Y/n clasped her hand over her mouth as the two hurried out of the movie theater and turned down the street. "Mace! Violated her ass to hell and back!"

Mace shook his head. "Come on. Don't make this into a Sabaton song."

Y/n caught his eyesight as she smiled in surprise. "That's a shock you know Sabaton."

"Oh—" Mace laughed. "I have to tell you that I.D had a very weird music taste."

Y/n became invested. "Tell me more!"

The doors to the academy opened and the twins piled inside. They'd stopped somewhere to get some food and decided once they were done, they'd go back to the academy since it was almost time.

Mace bid Y/n goodbye as he went upstairs to find the others and Y/n headed to the main area to find Lila sitting on the bar with her legs perched off the end and her feet landing on a chair. She had all her weight rested on her thighs as she leaned her arms on them and wrapped her hands around one another as she was in deep thought.

Y/n approached slowly. "Hey, Lila." The girl quickly turned her head up and watched as the girl sat to her right. "You alright?"

Lila nodded. "Yeah, fine. So . . . how's your day with Mace? You guys came back quite late."

Y/n smiled. "It went spectacular. We went to the movies and saw horror films, and while leaving this girl stopped us and asked for our tickets, but we think she only did that to talk to Mace because she was, like, in love with him or something." Lila watched the girl as she blabbed. "Which was so gross, cause then she thought I was dating Mace and it was so horrible."

Y/n went on and on about her day and all Lila could do was listen.

She'd never seen the girl so happy before.

Y/n had a smile on her face the whole time as she explained and not once broke it and turned to a frown or natural face.

It may have been a bad time to blurt out.

"Y/n," called Lila as the girl slowed down her talking.

Y/n huffed out with a small smile. "Sorry. Got carried away."

Lila shook her head. "It's fine, but . . . I need to tell you something."

Y/n turned her body toward her. "Okay. What is it?"

Lila sighed. "Look Five . . . hasn't been honest with you."

Y/n felt a small pit in her stomach.

"What do you mean?"

Lila rubbed her hands together. "I mean—"

"So I did do something wrong?" Y/n asked out and self-consciously slapped herself in the face as she spoke over Lila.

"No. You didn't do anything wrong." Lila shook her head. "You never have."

Y/n nodded. "Should've listened to the voice and shut up then."

Lila lifted an eyebrow at her muttering. "Pardon?" Y/n shook her head and Lila started again, "What I mean is . . . Five, he—"

Quiet footsteps approached from the far end of the room and out walked Five. He stopped right in front of the two girls and announced, "We're ready," placing his hands into his suit pockets as he stopped his pace. He gave Lila a small glare as Y/n exited out of her chair and moved to the foyer as he slowly turned around and followed her, Lila following next as well.

Everyone arrived in the basement ready to defeat the Kugelblitz. Sloane was the first to step forward in front of the anomaly. "Lila and Viktor, stand to the left and the right of Kugelblitz." The two nodded in their directions and moved into place. "Christopher, move above." Christopher beeped and went above. "And Y/n, move opposite of me, and make sure our bodies a-line with one another." Y/n nodded as she moved to the opposite side of the Kugelblitz and was now parallel with Sloane.

The energy thrummed the area as the Kugelblitz was bigger than it had been. Since it grew overnight, there was more of a chance for it to be a major problem. The force coming from the oddity as it pulsed was stronger, and it sent vibrations in every way it could as it rubbled loudly.

Viktor was the first to speak up asking, "Okay, how do we start?"

Sloane looked at Viktor as she moved to more of a center position, and Y/n followed after her to make sure they were still even. "Have you ever moved a nest of bees?"

Y/n shook her head. "Do I look like I want to lose my fate to a bunch of puffy yellow and black death flyers with stingers?" Mace chuckled as he looked down and silenced himself. Ben then glared at him.

"No, because that's weird," stated Lila to Sloane and Y/n then pointed at her in agreement.

Sloane sighed as she moved into her starting position. "You can't just pick it up. You have to keep the nest calm while you build a box around it, and then you trap it," she explained in a soft voice as Christopher chattered toward her and she nodded. Sloane then held out her hands, levitating herself off the ground as her hands glowed white and she flew above the Kugelblitz.

"One of those black holes inside is vibrating at a different rate," Fei announced as she looked toward Viktor.

"I can feel them." he nodded.

"Good. Whatever happens, don't let them speed up or change, or everything will blow."

Y/n scoffed under her breath. "Got it. No pressure," she expressed sarcastically.

Viktor shook his head at Y/n's sarcasm and turned his attention back toward Fei. "Don't shake the bees. Got it."

Viktor's chest shined a light blue as power emitted from his body, lighting his eyes the identical color, and his hands shined with it as well as a blue shield went around his side of the Kugelblitz. Viktor strained as he tried to contain his force field around the entity as it was stronger than anything he's ever gone against.

"Lila," Fei called the girl who turned her head toward her. "—when you're ready, do exactly like Viktor."

Lila turned toward the Kugelblitz breathing out a hard breath as her chest glowed blue as well and it spread throughout her body. Her hands glowed and the same force field appeared on her side as she then strained to keep it held up.

As everyone was focused on their part, Luther leaned over to Ben and questioned as he stared up at Sloane, "Hey, what's she doing?"

Ben was quick to reply. "Using its own gravity to condense it."

Luther hummed as Christopher chittered more words out. "That's pretty cool, huh?" Ben gave him a blank look and Luther moved away.

"Okay, now Y/n, here's where you come in." Fei caught the girl's eyesight. "Create a field around the Kugelblitz and start to pressure it into itself. Try to condense it like Sloane is, but only faster and with more power. If so, try to get it to the size of a soccer ball."

Y/n breathed out and took another deep breath in to keep herself siked in. She held her hands beside her as she lifted herself in the air, f/c emitting from her hand as she moved them from the side to beyond her and began to crush them together as if she were pressing in a ball.

She grunted as the Kugelblitz added more of a fight which ended in her adding more power. The Kugelblitz was shrinking away fast, and the process was close to being done, but the attention was pulled to a voice that had just recently entered.

"You didn't tell me you were building a prison for God." Grace walked toward the group as their heads turned to her.

"Mom?" Diego called in confusion.

"You have no right to do that."

Luther watched as Diego went toward her. "We're a little busy here, Grace," he simply told her.

Grace shook her head. "The day of vengeance was in my heart . . . "

Diego gave a dazed look as Luther walked beside him. "What are you talking about?"

" . . . and my year of redemption hath come," Grace demanded as she held up a fire blaster, shooting it straight at Diego and it would've burned him if he hadn't jumped to the side.

"Shit!" Number Two exclaimed as he jumped away.

"The day of vengeance was in my heart, and my year of redemption hath come."

The fire from the weapon started to shoot behind Sloane and it got close to her body. Y/n got worried, knowing she was about to do the stupidest thing possible. As more commotion went on behind them, she raised up her left hand and made a force field behind her.

"Y/n! What are you doing?" Sloane shouted as she watched the girl protect her. The Kugelblitz was still getting smaller, but only a couple of seconds slower so it wasn't getting affected much.

"To stop this thing—" she stopped herself as she gasped out in tiredness. "—we need all of us to stay safe and alive."

Sloane big the girl smile as the fire moved away from her and the commotion stopped. Y/n moved her hand back to the anomaly and her eyes glowed f/c as her energy was being used to a high potential. The Kugelblitz was getting smaller very quickly now, getting to the size of a soccer ball when Sloane saw her opening.

"Christopher, now!" she shouted as Christopher beeped, opening himself up and surrounding the abnormality. With as much force as they could, the four used their powers to keep it steady as Christopher moved around in pieces.

They all strained as Chris moved around at a faster pace, slowly coming together to form his normal self as he glowed a soft light blue and f/c mix from all the combined powers. Everyone strained and panted as they regained their breaths and tried to take in their energy.

Y/n put herself on the ground, falling onto one knee as everything hurt and ached. Though everything in her body was amped up, using that much power on such a strong force still took a drain on her. She took in hard gasps as she tried to calm herself down and take everything in.

"Y/n." Mace moved over to his sibling and grabbed onto her shoulders. "Are you okay?" Mace wrapped an arm around her waist and held her up as she muttered under her breath that she was okay, but Mace didn't buy it and still helped her up.

Sloane panted as Mace brought Y/n over to where he previously stood and she leaned off him and thanked him for getting her up. "You all okay?"

The others looked at her and nodded as she looked at Christopher who beeped weakly and she shrugged at the response.

A spacial jumped sound was heard behind Y/n and she turned her shoulder to see Five. "Did it work?"

Sloane took in breaths as she soon announced, "Next Kugelwave in three," as she counted down, Y/n used what was left of her strength to move Lila, Diego, Ben, and Viktor behind her. " two," Y/n held out her right arm, swiping her left in a circular motion to meet with the right and formed a force field in front everyone. "one."

Everyone held their breaths as they watched Christopher beyond the force field, thinking something was going to happen, but they were wrong.

The only thing that happened was Christopher farting, and excusing himself as Y/n scoffed, putting down her force field and sighing out loud. "Looks like that answers your question, Five." Y/n looked over to him as he nodded toward the girl. "The great kugel-fart . . . ?" she scrunched her eyebrows as she shook her head and ignored her own statement.

Luther sighed as he clapped his hands. "You know what this calls for?" he looked around a everyone with a smile.

Mace guessed, "A summoning of Satan?" with a cheer.

Y/n then spoke out, "A summoning of—" she hit Mace's arm as she paused herself. "Hey! I was gonna say that."

Mace rolled his eyes. "Too slow."

Y/n kicked the back of his ankle with immense force and the boy winced out in pain, gritting his teeth together as he grunted. "Who's too slow now?" she lifted an eyebrow upward and looked at her brother cockily.

Luther shook his head as he watched the twins argue. "No. We're not summoning Satan." The twins cursed under their breaths as their idea was shot down. "I was thinking of a "we saved the world" party."

The remaining sparrows and umbrellas nodded their heads as Lila cheered, "Hell yeah!" Everyone soon piled out of the basement except for the twins who remained in their spots.

Mace gave a bummed-out look. "I mean, that's only kinda cool and fun."

Y/n nodded as her head was turned away from where everyone was. "Yeah. I agree. Wouldn't you all want to summon Satan instead?" She turned around with a smile to their empty spaces since she didn't notice they left. "Ugh. So rude."

Mace shrugged. "You know, we could summon Satan ourselves, you know?"

Y/n nodded as she heard her brother's suggestion. "You're right, but I just remembered I'm only supposed to see him every alternating Tuesday."

Mace gave a nod and a frown. "Oh. Why?"

Y/n raised her head. "Oh, I have brunch with him every other Tuesday. He tells me what happens down there, I tell him what happens up here—it's like a system, ya know?"

Mace shook his head as he heard his sibling speak. "Lucky. I want to have brunch with Satan."

Y/n looked at him. "I'll see if he'll let me bring a guest. We both will probably end up going there anyway when we die, so . . . "

Mace looked upwards as he pressed his lips together. "We're just kidding, being above. We're just joking, ya know?"

Y/n looked at him with a blank expression. "Don't even try to bring the lord into this, dumbass. He knows everything you've done." Y/n chuckled as a song went into her head.

Mace shook his head. "No, he hasn't."

"Remember, the lord is watching you," she held out the last note as she headed for the stairs. Once she reached the opening, she turned back to Mace and sang the line again, "Remember, the lord is watching you." Y/n pointed a finger at Mace as he flipped her off, moving toward her as they headed upstairs to join the others.
