kun had both hands firmly grasping the wheel as he followed the directions soojin read out to him, her posture much looser than his. leaning back against the headrest, the girl turned to face her boyfriend and found herself smiling.
"you look cute right now."
taken aback by the sudden compliment, kun laughed. "what, all jittery and panicked? thank you, darling."
"da'ling," soojin mimicked in a british accent as she reached a hand up to play with some of the hair by her boyfriend's ear. "so adorable."
kun shook his head but smiled. "only to you, i suppose."
the girl let her arm reside on kun's shoulder, rubbing the muscles tenderly after realizing how tense he was. it made her sad to see him worry like this, and there wasn't much she could do to help.
"i'm sorry," she finally said, her hand sliding off the man's shoulder and onto the armrest console. kun's brows furrowed as he quickly stole a glance at the girl beside him. "why?"
soojin shrugged with a quiet sigh. "i feel like i dragged you into this mess. it's not like last time, this could end really badly, and if you get hurt because of me..."
she wasn't expecting the car to suddenly swerve off to the side of the road and gasped when it did. before she had a chance to ask what the matter was, kun reached over and took her chin in his hand, pulling her face towards him. there was a serious look in his eyes soojin hadn't seen in a while, and it made her swallow her remarks.
"don't." he spoke, and the girl felt a chill run down her spine at how soft he made the word sound. "don't think this is your fault. or that you're-you're dragging me down with you. nothing will happen to you, okay, i won't let anything happen to you."
soojin lifted her hand to cup his as she unwillingly averted her gaze from him. she couldn't think of anything to say, and thankfully, she didn't have to.
"come here," with his free hand, kun swiftly unbuckled himself and scooted forward to let the girl fall into his embrace. the ravenette didn't waste a second burying her face in the crook of his neck and hugging him tighter than she'd like to admit.
she blinked back tears and as her boyfriend continued whispering comforts to her and providing her with warmth. "i won't let anything happen to you."
