After about 15 minutes of pure silence, he pulled up to some house that was fairly huge. I glanced over at him.
“Is this your house?” I asked curiously.
“Nah, its my friend’s,” I nodded and he got out, as did I.
The house was flooding with drunken teenagers, and everyone was dancing inside and outside the house. Everyone looked like they were having a good time, but this definitely wasn’t my scene. I thought about turning back, but Aaron already had his arm slung over my shoulders. I didn’t feel anything, unlike the electric jolt that goes through my skin whenever I touched Jason… Jason… I missed him so much, I feel like I should be with him right now, instead of Aaron. Don’t get me wrong, Aaron was cool, but Jason understands me and I always have fun with him. Whatever, I could have a good time with Aaron too…. Right?
Jason’s Point Of View
“All right, so you guys all know the plan, right?” I questioned, making sure these idiots could follow simple steps.
They all nodded at the same time, and I smirked. This was going to be good. If these guys do everything right, we might have a chance at breaking out of this hell hole.
We all split up, since it was currently work time, it was ending anyways. I made my way back to my cell, along with the other inmates. I was thrown inside, as usual, but it didn’t bother me. The small bomb that was meant to distract the cops was going to go off in less than ten minutes. All I had to do was wait while the knuckle heads did what they are best at. They would ambush the cops, only a couple so that I could go ahead and disable the cameras in the detention center. After that we would all meet up at the gate, no cops where supposed to be there, they would all be where the bomb went off. Which would be out on the recess grounds. With all of them outside, we could lock the doors, and those who stayed inside the dinosaurs would take care of them.
As I sat there, I re thought things.
Did I really want to do this? I could be thrown back into jail for even more time. And… and what if Naomi found out? She would never… I shook my head, but she still stuck on my mind like glue.
Her perfect features, and her chestnut hair. Her eyes where the most beautiful. Over the time I haven’t been seeing her, when she was in the coma, I realized that I really do like her. If I get out of here, I can be with her, with no god damn bars to get in between us. I don’t know if she feels the same way but that doesn’t stop how I fee- Oh whatever, I can’t get my hopes high. The most beautiful girl in the world would never like me.
Maybe, I shouldn’t do this. I- I don’t think I CAN do this. I’d be risking everything I had, and that was Naomi. I would be risking the- I can’t believe I’m saying this- safety I had here. I have safety, but I’m not free. If I had safety, I could see Naomi, but never be able to touch her or go outside on weekends. If I took freedom then I could be back in here in a second.
I sighed deeply and at that moment, I heard a small boom go off a few feet away. And I frowned. I didn’t even have enough time to think this whole thing through!
Marcus immediately ran toward the bomb and I couldn’t help but smirk a little. After a few moments, one of the chumps unlocked my door.
Everything was going according to plan; well we were getting so many jealous stares from the rest of the prisoners. But I was no longer a prisoner. I was free; I just needed to get outside those doors…
We sprinted down the never ending hallway until we reached the towering steel doors. I was just about to be welcomed into the rest of the earth. Until, I saw Lincoln come out of his office.
Lincoln had a gun in his hand and he pointed it to me first. At first, I was panicking. What is he actually pulled the trigger? I gulped and out of the corner of my eye I saw the ‘leader’ stagger over to Lincoln.
I wasn’t there to see the rest. The other all jumped to Lincoln, while I ran. I was scared to death, but I didn’t stop. I did feel guilty that I left them in there. I want to take this all back, I was so stupid to even agree. Now I’m a fugitive, as much as I hate to say it. But at least I’m free.
My feet pounded hard against the concrete and I breathed in the fresh air. Well, as fresh air could be in Las Vegas. It was dark out, and I could barely see anything in the pitch blackness.
Behind me, I heard someone yelling after me. I whipped my head around and saw a couple of policemen dashing towards me. They held flashlights in their hands.
Should I just give up? If I did, I would probably have to face even more time in jail. I don’t know what to do…
They shouted for me to stop, but that only encouraged me to sprint faster. Surprisingly, I can run really fast. The cops didn’t have any cars with them, so I watched as they grew out of sight.
I took a second to look around and I sighed. I’m safe. For now.
I was around some deserted neighborhood. But, from across the street, there was a really large house. It stood out because lights were turned on, and music was pumping loudly from some kind of speakers. Many people were on the lawn, drinking… beer? Probably just some party. Alex used to go to those before… never mind.
Without thinking, I walked over to the house and the teens there greeted me like their own. I ignored them the best I could. Maybe I could find some clothes in here, though I highly doubt it. The police wouldn’t have much chance of finding me in a crowded party like this. If I could just blend in, I’d be okay.
“Hey, haven’t seen ya before,” I twirled around to see a girl smiling at me.
I stared at her, hoping she would leave me alone. She had blonde hair with pink highlights. She was wearing a tight shirt that read ‘I Don’t Give’ with some really tight short jeans. She looked like any other normal girl. But not like Naomi. Anyone could tell that this girl was fake, even I could, and she just said a few words to me. In her hands she held a plastic red cup, which seemed to contain some kind of punch or something.
“Are ya mute, or what?” She cackled, her eyes flashing. They where a light blue, but they were cold and sharp.
“No,” I simply stated, backing off.
“Nice costume,” She complimented me, pointing to my orange outfit.
“You don’t have any other clothes…. Do you?” I asked curiously, seeing an opportunity in front of me.
“Yeah, I do, actually. It’s up in my room,” She nodded quickly and grabbed my hand. I quickly pulled away and she smirked.
“Playing hard to get? I like that,” She laughed, and I shook my head as if to say she’s being plain stupid.
“Why isn’t anyone else in the other houses?” I said as I followed her up stairs. She led me into what was supposedly her room.
“They are all sleeping, believe it or not,” She grinned widely and set her cup on top of her placing white drawer before opening it, “That’s why Aaron and I decided to throw this party. He’s my cousin, by the way. He wanted to have some time with his girl, if ya know what I mean.”
Aaron…? Where did I hear that from? I thought for a moment as she rummaged through her drawers before tossing me a plain red tee and a matching hoodie, along with some skinny jeans. They were probably her cousin’s.
“Thanks…?” I told her, not knowing her name.
“Charlotte Jackson, at your service,” She smiled, taking a bow before picking up her cup and giving me a hug. I was startled and gently pushed her off, receiving a pout from her.
“Aw, well bye!” She chattered before running off. What an odd little girl. Funny how she never asked what my name was.
I quickly slipped off the orange jump suit and put on her clothes. She just lost her cousin a good outfit. Aaron. Its so familiar…
I finished changing and took the orange jump suit in my hands. I needed to get rid of it, but the smart thing right now would be to just hold on to it.
I headed for the room’s bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked fine, like how I used to look before all the shit happened. Normal. But I was far from that. I flipped my hair and sighed. It needed to go, if I didn’t want to be found.
I sighed and dumped the jump suit into the trashcan. I stomped out of there, walking into the hallway. I could tell most of the rooms where probably occupied, considering all the sounds coming form them. Ugh. I was just about to leave the party, when I heard screaming.
“Stop!! Help! Please, please…” The voice seemed far off, and after the last words, nothing came after. A girls voice.
Mind your own business, Jason. Keep going.
Instead of listening to my conscience, I went to the room that had the yelps of help coming from. I turned the knob, but it was locked. I pressed my ear against the wood of the door and strived to hear the faintest of sounds. I heard faint whimpering, nothing after that.
For some reason, I ran back to Charlotte’s room and found myself in the bathroom, looking for some kind of hair pin. Luckily, I found one, and with it, dashed for the room. I went to my knees and tried to pick the lock of the wooden door. I was pretty good at stealthy stuff like this, since Alex taught me everything there is to know.
To my satisfaction, the door clicked and it cracked open. I peered inside, just enough for me to see what was happening, but not for the people inside to see me. My eyes widened and my mouth hung open at what I saw...
