LOIS

LANE

&

CLARK

KENT

AFTERNOON : FOUR O'CLOCK

~~~
Lois walking out of the hospital glancing back at Morgan talking in what appeared to be a friendly manner to Kyle and Laura Cushing.
She had wanted to tear the man away from them.
But without proper cause or reason she couldn't.
They already thought that she was a bit barmy with her Morgan Edge conspiracy theories.
At spotting her fathers green men pull up behind Kyle and morgans from the glass doors of the hospital's entrance.
Lois felt relieve.
She looked towards her car.
At spotting her husband, in his glasses, wrapped in a foil blanket that he had gotten from God knows where.
Lois would later find out that Clark had borrowed it from some matropalis paramedics on his way back to SmallVille.
It was a shock blanket.
Sitting in the front seat of her car bundled up like a baby.
Lois entered her car hurriedly.
Clark didn't greet her, just coughed in her opposite direction.
Lois took Clarks face in her hands.
"There are others, '' he said between coughs.
Confusion displayed itself among Lois' face.
"Others?"
"Kryptonians"
Lois still didn't have an answer for her confusion.
Clark had always wanted a better insight to his heritage.
There was only so much outdated hollowgram and a cold climate could prove him.
'So why was this an issue for him?'
"Isn't that a good thing?" Lois patted Clarks back allowing for him to go on to say.
"No, no, no" Repeatedly.
Each word overlapping with the last.
"Why?"
"What there ... What he's doing"
Clark seemed to be wrapped up in his own head, not hearing Lois' words fully.
"Clark" Lois said sharply as if she were scolding Jordan or Jonathan for being caught doing something heat they shouldn't.
Like the time in the second grade when Jordan got his hand stuck in a cookie jar and Jonathan almost fractured his hand trying to get it out.
Before their parents noticed the suspicious quietness around the house.
At the boys mischief.
Startled.
Clark sighed, pilled up the blanket.
Deeply breathed in.
"In the mines before they clasped I met a woman who was in every way Kryptonian accept she was dying from what gave her powers"
Clarks eyes darted around the car catching Lois's as she moved her face within his lines of sight.
"Clark that's..."
'Horrible'
Lois thought leaving her sad thoughts to herself recognising Clarks dismay at the loss.
For someone that Lois knows Clark would blame himself for.
Even if it was not his fault at all.
Clark always did like to put a little bit too much responsibility when it came to others on his shoulders.
It was a quality that Lois was only a little thankful for that he and Jonathan both shared.
"That's not it there was this man who I'm absolutely sure was Kryptonian talking and going on about restricting Krypton on earth"
"But wasn't all of Krypton ... you know - "
Lois words were pinched at the end the silent word of.
' - destroyed'
Being left hung in the air.
Clark carried on without needed confirmation of what incident of mass loss Lois had been referring to.
"Ya but it could have been posibles for another set of parents to send their child away from the plant in time to arrive here on earth ... I mean we sounded the same age ... and he had a fortris just like mine but in the desert"
Clark once again pulled up the blanket that had been left around him up towards his neck.
"That great Clark it's a chance to reconnect with your people"
Clark looked at Lois as if she wasn't getting what he was trying to get across to her.
Shaking his head.
"No it's not"
"Huh?"
"He's the reason why that woman was dying ... he implemented Kryptonian powers into knowing that she would die, breaking her down until even as he poisoned her, she wouldn't leave him."
"Poison?" Lois looked at Clark franticlay.
Moving her hands to his neck.
Clark shook off a little.
"Kryptonite in the air ... as a gas ... I tried to take her with me but ..."
Clark trailed towards the end of his sentence.
Dredd filled Lois' stomach.
"Clark you did everything you could have ... don't blame yourself"
Lois shook her head a little looking up at Clark.
Clark looked conflicted and opened his mouth to say something more.
Then shut his mouth again.
Lois, noticing this, spoke up.
"Do you wanna tell me anything else?"
Clark's face grimaced as if to remember the ordeal and put a foul taste in his mouth.
"He had jars and test tubes full of this yellow shiny liquid and I think dogs ... there were making noise ... I heard them as ... the woman lead me through a laboratory"
"In the middle of the desert?" Lois said slightly doubtfully, her thought of a pristine laboratory stepping up amongst the gritty sand of Arabia, overshadowing the mention of dogs towards the end of Clarks sentence.
"Ya"
Lois accepts Clark's answer.
And thought back on his words.
'Yellow liquid'
'Laboratory'
'Dogs'
'Growls'
'Edge had a pair on dogs'
Lois picked up making Clark follow her, shuffling his body to face her.
"Wait Clark what did you say about dogs?"
"Just that I had heard them there"
It was Clarks turn to be in the dark.
Being unaware of the connection his wife was drawing.
Lois did not directly answer, unwilling to sway herself from her line of thought.
"Do you think you'd be able to recognize them?"
Clark thought back to the sound of the laboratory and how distinked the house of the dogs had been.
How they echod in his head thought out his and the voices' convocations.
He knew that he would know that sound if he had heard it again.
"Sure"
Clark said, nodding a little.
Lois looked up from where she had been connecting the dots in her head.
"Because Morgan Edge is currently with two dogs that have a passion for growling"
Clark frowned.
'Morgan Edge?'
Lois looked at Clark as if he should already know or how she drew her conclusion.
"You didn't see the text I sent did you?" Lois sighed.
Clark shook his head.
He had left his phone in his hurry at home in their shared bedroom.
In his blue jeans.
"Someone's, Mark Johnson's, been murdered, Sarah saw it and the main suspect is Morgan Edge" Lois ratted of quickly.
"Is Sarah - ?"
'Ok?'
'Hurt?'
Clark didn't know how to finish his sentence.
The question being left hung in the air.
Lois quickly snatched the thought of Sarah mortal peril from Clark's mind.
"Yes she's ok" Lois reassured him.
Drawing the subject matter away from Sarah's possible demise.
"Now do you super hearing thing"
Patting Clark on the shoulder.
Motioning him to get on with his hearing thing.
That Lois never found a proper name for.
Lois turned her car on pulling away from the hospital.
Creating more distance between them and Edge.
Even if that wouldn't do much to discuss that from Edge watchful ears.
If he truly was listening to them.
Clark at his wife's insistence tilting his head towards the hospital.
Squinting his eyes slightly.
Then he heard it.
The paddling of wet paw prints on tile flooring.
The painting for excursion.
The slight predatory sounds.
Muttered under the animal's breath.
It was the same dog.
Who had a more sinister feeling about them in comparison to the other more light and playfully dogs around them.
'That means that those dog belong to Edge'
'Therefore making Edge the same voice that he had spoken to before'
And Clark couldn't do a damn thing about it.
In a room for all those people.
Who already saw Edge as a beacon of hope and sympathy.
Superman couldn't possibly aprahed the man in front of all those people.
Without any proof of anything.
Coming back to Lois.
Clark said.
"It's the same dogs"
"Edge is Kryptonian" Lois sighed and grabbed at her eyes.
Lois pulled into her work place putting her car in park.
Both she and Clark were in silence unsure as to what to say to one another to ease the others' worries.
Pulling on her phone from her pockets and dialling a number.
~~~ RING ~~~

Lois knew that she had a lot of explaining to do.

THE MORGATORY

SAM LANE

&

JOHN HENRY

AFTERNOON : FOUR TEN O'CLOCK

~~~
Multiple green army men had swarmed into the hospital as a precaution for if the Edge needed to be taken down.
Though the effort was deemed lacklustre as they found.
"Nothing, -"
"Not even a whisper of plausible evidence"
John Henry had been banking apon Morgan Edge confessing in his interview.
As the man had displayed no violently charged scandals in his career so far.
John had hoped this in order to be able to get back to his family in time for Christian break but that unformachalty was not the case.
Throwing of his surgical gloves next the the body of Mark Johnson
"We got nothing out of him, my men said it was like trying to rub blood from a stone" Sam rubbed at his eyes.
"A solid alibi?" John went over his notebook flipping through the pages going over his own work.
And for the first time in a long time questioning his ability to up hold his integrity to -
• Logical Conclusions
• Simple Answer
And
• Justified Way Of Concluding Evidence.
As he had never had his theories proven so blatantly unfounded before.
Not what he thought Edge was the one in particular kill Mark Johnson.
Just that John that thought he must have had something to do with the murder.
Sam shook his head disappointedly.
"Ya we have camera evidence he was in a las Vegas strip club at the time of the dissident"
Pulling up the video feed on his phone.
Flicking through time stamped images.
From one, three, six, seven am.
Along with eight am at the time of the attack according to Sarah.
John took the phone out of Sam's hands, slowing in on a couple of frames of footage.
Zooming In.
Highlighting a constant within the footage.
"What about the woman with him ... the redhead?"
Sam perked up at that find.
"What?"
Looking at his phone screen.
John was right, a redhead woman would flank the Edge wherever he would go.
From the streets -
To the club -
And then to the club's bar.
There wasn't anywhere the man wouldn't go without the woman.
"Can she cooperate his story?"
Hope for the man's theory's sparked up again.
"Well just have to find out where and who she is"
~~~ RING ~~~

~~~ RING ~~~
~~~ RING ~~~

It was his daughter.

John Henry passed him a blank look.

Sam was going to excuse himself before answering but at the last moment chose not to.

Answering the phone.

"Dad, are you still at the morgatory?"

"Ya"

Sam put his phone on loudspeaker.

As it was clear that whatever Lois had to say would have to be for John's ears too.

"John with you?"

John replied before Sam could.

"Yes I'm also here Lois what do you what?"

Lois at that careyed on knows she would have to repeat herself.

"Search for anything yellow in substance in the body like a powder or liquid ... anything."

John squinted at the phone and then to Sam.

"And why am I doing that"

Lois' voice came out rushed and heavy like she was moving from one place to the other quite still being on the line.

"I've got a way to link Morgan edge's mines to Mark Johnson's death more clearly"

"Ok?"

"Just do it alright ... Superman told me that in the mines there excavating a good substance ... for publicly unknown reasons"

"Superman?"

'Why would Lois Lane be in contact with Superman?'

John thought.

"Lois has done multiple interviews and Exposé with the hero," Sam explained.

"Look for a Gold and metallic yellow liquid like Mercury at room temperature."

John just sighed and looked towards Mark Johnson's body, giving it once over again with his eyes squinting at the large cavity in his chest.

"Again may I ask for clarity?"

Sam looked towards John wondering if he had truly missed such a visit piece of the evidence during his autopsy.

"Superman believes that Morgan Edge is creating superhumans with the stuff that his mine is digging up"

It looks like the D.O.D was here to stay.

Setting up a temporary shop in smallville.

As the arrival of corporate owned superheroes' was more that the government was willing to let slide this time from Morgan Edge.

No amount of money and corruption could pave the way to that man's authority again.

Even if they couldn't lock him up.

LOIS

LANE

AFTERNOON : FOUR THIRTY O'CLOCK

~~~
Lois got out of her vehicle leaving Clark behind in her Car.
Walking to her workplace.
The bells at the door announcing her entrance to Chrissy.
Chrissy looked up at the arrival and went to say.
"Hello -"
Before being interrupted.
Lois paused and wavering her hand towards her phone and gestured for Chrissy to listen.
"I've got a way to link Morgan Edge's mines to Mark Johnson's death more clearly"
"Ok?"
Chrissy at the tone of the phone call.
Got out some scruffy pieces of paper from her desk and started to write notes hurriedly on the topic of the conversation.
"Just do it alright Superman told me that in the mines there excavating a good substance ... for publicly unknown reasons"
"Superman?"
Towards the end of her call with Sam and John Henry.
Lois saw fit to not mention the whole 'Krypton on earth' thing.
Clark had told her about it.
As she didn't know what to give her father to have another reason to order a full government strike on her husband.
Again after they had finally managed to grow closer as a family.
As Lois hung up the phone.
Chrissy put down her pencil.
And gestured for Lois to take a seat in front of her desk.
"So are you going to tell me what it was about?"
Lois leaned her charge towards the desk beckoning Chrissy to inch forward in her chair.
"My father's suspects ..."
Lois told Chrissy only a slightly edited story of what was going on between Morgan Edge, Superman and her father.
