Valerie grabbed the book, she noticed that it was the book Jack forbid her from reading, she recognised it by its unique cover,its colour was dark blue with a yellow symbol of the sun in the middle and golden stripes on its edges.
The envelope had a name on top of it
"Private" which made her question what's in it.
She decided to open the envelope to see what's inside it and there was a letter, a compass and a map.
"To my first student.
You must be very confused about this envelope.
There is a compass and a map inside it.
If you open the map, you can see it's not like any other map I have ever showed you.
This map has magical powers, it can show you any island or a place you want to go to and the compass will lead you to it while avoiding any danger in your way.
And for this book, it has every information to any island you plan to go to.
Use them wisely to get out of this trashy place and go on to your first adventure.
P.S there's a small boat behind the waterfall, you can use it to get out of here.
Your teacher, Jack."
Valerie sighed "I wish I could punch you right now" she said smiling slightly at the letter.
Valerie opened the map hoping to find the exit of this world.
There was a big island on the map and nothing around it except for the ocean.
What surprised her is the movement of its waves as if it was a real waves of the sea, at the top right of the map was an X mark under it the word exit.
Valerie knew what she has to do.
She started packing the stuff she could use in her journey and putting them in a wooden chest, then took a small bag and put in it the map, the compass and the book in it, then placed her sword on the left of her waist and her pistol on the right and went behind the waterfall to find the boat there.
It was a simple boat with a small mast in its middle and a sail attached to it.
She took the boat out to the ocean, placed her stuff on it and got on.
"Ok let's start sailing" she said while facing the big ocean infront of her and her back facing the cave where she used to live.
She took the compass and the map out of her bag.
The compass was unique, it had only one green arrow pointing at north where she knew she has to follow.
Valerie started following where the arrow pointed until she couldn't see the island, she opened the map and was surprised to see a small boat moving on it.
She knew it was her boat and was at the right road when she saw the X mark getting closer.
She took her eyes of the map to see a cliff infront of her.
Valerie panicked so she looked at the compass which was still pointing at where the cliff is.
"Well, there's nothing to lose anyway" Valerie said to herself clearly worried of what might happen to her.
The boat kept getting closer to the cliff and when she thought it will fall, she saw a bright light coming out of it's direction.
The boat arrived at the cliff but it didn't fall, it kept moving forward, when Valerie looked down the boat, there was nothing beneath it like it was floating.
She cling to the boat mast ready to go through the light and closed her eyes.
When she opened her eyes there was nothing around her boat as if she was in space.
It was pitch black with small lights in it.
She opened the compass and it's arrow didn't move an inch.
She kept moving in the same direction anticipating of what she will find at the other side.
Nothing changed as the hours passed and she got worried she might be stuck in her place so she opened the book and words started appearing on it.
"The Realm Inbetween" was the title.
"It's an open space connects several worlds and realms with each other.
It's neither a place nor an island.
It is a pitch black space with small lights in it, each light represents a world.
You can easily get lost in it and stuck forever without getting out"
"That's relieving"
Valerie said sarcastically with a worried smile.
She closed the book concerned that she is actually lost in this realm.
She laid on her back watching the sky of this realm waiting for something to happen that's when the boat started shaking startling her.
She got up to see what happened when the sound of the waves reached her ears.
She didn't know what she has to do so she sat down waiting the arrival at the human world.
A few moments of still silence passed, then the boat started shaking again, then started falling.
Valerie closed her eyes clinging to the boat even harder when the boat crashed on the sea.
She opened her eyes to find the sea waves infront of her and the blue sky above her.
She thought that she didn't get out of Utopia, so she opened the compass to find the green arrow is black now.
She opened the map, it had nothing on it.
She opened the book and words started to appear again.
"The Earth"
"It's a planet where humans and other creatures lives on."
She wanted to continue reading but she was very exhausted to continue.
Valerie was relieved to know that she arrived at the human world.
She now wants to find an island to land on so she can rest and gather her thoughts.
She opened the map to find a small island close to where she is, then opened the compass to show her directions and went there.
After arriving at the island, Valerie decided to stay on it for two days until she think of other destinations.
She built a tent on the beach not too far from her boat and lit the fire to cook some fish.
After she was done eating, the sun already was gone and the moon took its place.
She then grabbed her book and opened it.
"Unknown"
Valerie frowned at the title but still continued reading.
"This island isn't discovered yet by humans. There's no creature lives on this island except for poisonous plants."
Valerie gulped at the information "Wow! It's the best start anyone could ever wish for! Hahaha" she said sarcastically and continued reading
"The island is located at the middle of the Erebus ocean and whoever gets in the Erebus ocean they can't get out of it"
".....it was a beautiful 52 years I lived"
Valerie said looking at the ocean with blank face.
"Are you kidding me?!!!" She shouted while standing up "I have just started and I'm not going to give up now!!!!" She shouted at the sea then screamed a jungle scream that means to not give up.
"But first I have to sleep" she yawned and went to her tent to sleep after she put out the fire.
The morning came and Valerie decided to explore the island since its homeless and maybe gather some plants she might need just in case.
"These plants really have some weird shapes" she said while picking a plant that looks like a flower and it's colour is gray and black and has some green on it's petals, she picked almost one plant from each kind on this island then went back to her tent to organize and keep the plants safe since she has a long way to go.
"Finally finished!" She said while stretching her arms above her head
"Now, I have to get out of this ocean"
She opened the map maybe it could show her the road.
The island Valerie is on looked very small on the map and there was also other small island on the map in every corner she could look at.
She noticed small dots making a line from the island she's on to the east and ended on an X mark under it was "Talay" She knew it was the name of this ocean.
After grabbing her stuff and putting them in the boat, Valerie is now ready to sail.
She started following the line on the map with her compass.
The ocean was calm and nothing out of ordinary happened, she saw several whirlpool around the boat but it didn't affect her because she was following the compass "If I didn't have this compass I would probably be dead by now, except I can't die" she sighed and continued in her way.
"It was a scary experience" she said after passing the last whirlpool.
She checked the map and now she crossed half the way out of the ocean and still have the other half to make.
"Hooray!!!" She shouted in big voice when she finally got out of the Erebus ocean while standing and putting her arms up in the air "I never felt relieved like this before" she sighed then sat down leaning at the edge of the boat "Now what?" She said clueless looking at the ocean "should I just sail randomly?" She said putting her hand on her chin "why not?" and started sailing not caring where to go.
"Life is hard~ I shouldn't have left utopia~ Laaaa Laaa LAAAA!" She sang random words out of boredom not knowing where to go.
"Let's see if the map has anything on it"
She opened it and it only showed her her boat and ocean waves.
She closed it and continued to sing, she then saw a small shadow coming in her way.
She reopened her map and still didn't show anything.
She was confused to why nothing was on the map except the boat, so she grabbed her spyglass and looked through it to see a big ship coming in it's way to her.
She took off the spyglass to recheck the map and there was a ship but it wasn't the one she saw now, it was another one and it was red.
She took her spyglass to see if there's another ship anywhere and there was one on the opposite direction of the other ship and it was getting closer.
"Wait, am I stuck now between them?" She said panicking so she grabbed her compass maybe it could lead her to the way out.
"You got to be kidding me!" She said in annoyance when the arrow was pointing at the first ship.
"Well, there's no other choice." She said shrugging pointing her boat at the first ship.
When she got closer to the ship she checked the compass and it was indeed pointing at this ship.
"Is there anybody up there?!!" She shouted out from her boat but nobody answered.
"Are they scared or something?" She questioned and looked at her map, the other ship was getting closer on the map but it can't be seen from where she was standing.
"If no one is going to answer then I'll climb the ship by myself" she said in a hush voice and started climbing her way up.
She peeked her head from the edge of the ship and there was no one on the main deck, so she got on it.
"Is this an abandoned ship?"she asked herself "No, it's not" a voice shouted from the crow's nest.
Valerie immediately unsheathed her sword but she was met with two pistols, a rifle and four swords.
"Well, don't you think it's unfair to draw your weapon in the face of a young lady?" She said sarcastically still holding her sword in defense posture "you are the one who came uninvited to our ship" one of them said, he was holding a rifle in his hands, he had a short dark hair,his skin slightly tanned with round black eyes and a mole on his left cheek under his eye, he wore a white shirt with black jeans and boots and he was a little bit taller than Valerie.
"Hmm, you're right but before I came, I asked if there was anybody on the ship, no one answered so I assumed that the ship was abandoned" she said smiling lightly putting her sword back in its place and leaning her back at edge of the ship putting her elbows on it.
Her attitude angered them, thinking she is mocking them "even though you should think twice before getting on a pirate ship" the one who spoke was the tallest of them, he had a sword in his hand, not so short brown hair exposing his big chocolate eyes and freckles on his nose and cheeks and his skin was a little tanned, he wore a white shirt with brown jacket and brown jeans and boots.
Valerie raised an eyebrow still leaning at the edge "Pirates?" She questioned.
"Yes, pirates" this time a voice came from a cabin at the end of the ship taking her attention from the men infront of her.
A man came out of it, he had dark hair with long mullet and has a small face with black round eyes, he wore a black hat with red coat and white shirt on it a black vest and black jeans and boots.
"You are now onboard of the treasure pirate's ship"
"Great!"
