In the years away from Luffy, Y/n grew to have the position of Captain in the marines. Y/n is currently stationed at Sabaody Archipelago currently doing patrol with some of his crew. His transponder snail then goes off. He answers immediately.
Y/n: This is Captain Zel, what's the problem?
He says bored.
Marine: SIR SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED AT THE AUCTION HOUSE!! SOME OF THE SUPERNOVAS ARE CAUSING A RUCKUS AND ONE OF THEM HAS ATTACKED A CELESTIAL DRAGON!!
Y/n: Alright then. Tell all men to hold them off with long range fire, I don't need any of you dying before I get there, understood?
Marine: Understood sir!
The call hangs up, and Y/n sighs and smirks.
Y/n: Finally some fun. Men let's go, we have work to do.
He then takes off running towards the auction house with his crew all following behind him. They soon arrive to see chaos and the men causing Y/n problems.
Y/n draws attention to himself when he arrives. Shuffling through the crowd of soldiers.
Y/n: Yo! What do you idiots think your doing huh?
He says with a smirk and a fire burning in his eyes.
Kidd: Oh, you must be the one in charge of this area, so you must be strong huh.
He says cracking his knuckles.
Luffy: If that's so I'll kick his ass, you guys take the rest of them.
The guy with the straw hat says. Y/n has seen that hat somewhere but at this moment can't remember.
Y/n: MEN! STAND BACK! I'll handle these clowns.
He says reaching for his weapon on his hip. The remaining marines shuffle a good distance away mainly cause they got their asses whooped.
Kidd: Aww the captain is trying to protect his men how sweet, I'll be sure to give you a quick death.
Y/n: Shut up you clown if you're gonna kill me stop talking and come try.
He says taking a battle stance.
Kidd: Your dead meat!
He says with anger lacing his words.
Y/n: You seem like all bark and no bite little puppy.
Y/n says smirking. He doesn't 't even get a chance to blink before Kidd is in his face with an arm the size of a body being swung towards his face.
Y/n: Shave!
Y/n appears behind him and delivers a downward kick on the arm that shatters the entire thing. Y/n gears up to send out another attack just to be punched away by Luffy. Luckily he was on guard the whole time and skidded to a stop a meter in front of the three captains. They all have a look of frustration that Y/n finds funny and shows it by lightly chuckling.
Luffy: Hey what's funny???
He says a bit more mad than he should be, with that action Y/n remembers the hat and the person under it.
Y/n: It's nothing Luffy. Just show me what you got.
Confusion flashed across his face before he reeled his arm back and threw it toward Y/n. Y/n easily sidestepped it but as he did Kidd made a bullet fly past his face.
Law: This is so trivial. Room
Y/n: 'Law. Right now you're the most difficult to deal with'
Law dashed at Y/n within the Room drawing that big ass sword he carries and swings it aiming for his chest from in front of him.
Y/n: Tempest Kick 2 Fold
He sends the kick at Law. The attacks cancel out while a wind torrent came crashing where the attacks met in the middle.
Y/n: Tch. This is dragging on and I don't have the patience for this.
Kidd: Couldn't agree more.
He says from behind Y/n baring a cutlass. Y/n simply step out of the way and swing his nunchuck at Kidd. He blocks the attack but Y/n kicks him in the stomach sending him flying back.
Y/n then notices Law still coming towards him and raises his nunchucks, making their weapons clash. The two bare their teeth at each and begin to swing their respective weapons at each other. Y/n then grips both ends of his weapon and jabs Law in the knee making him kneel. Y/n then hits his chin with the weapon sending him into the air. Luffy comes running at Y/n and punches him in the face. Y/n stumbles backwards and rubs his jaw. In that time Law lands on his feet rubbing his chin.
Law: Tch
(Marine# - Random marine solider)
Marine1- Captain Zel, reinforcements are approaching fast!
Y/n: Copy that.
In the moment of distraction Luffy attacks Y/n.
Luffy: Get out of my way!! GUM-GUM BAZOOKAAAA!!!
Y/n tries to dodge but the attack was too fast, and took the blunt attack head on. It hits him knocking all the wind out of him and he staggers to the ground and into unconsciousness.
Teeny Weeny Timeskip
Y/n feels himself slowly waking up and groans aloud at the thought.
?: Nice of you to join us in the land of the living. Get up we're going after those pirates.
Once he says that he disappears in a glint of light.
Y/n: Welp I'd better move.
With that Y/n wills myself to get up and get going. He doesn't exactly keep up with him but more so keep him in his sights, but after a while he speeds up and loses him.
After sometime of running he finally catches up just in time to see Dark King Rayleigh redirect Kizaru's kick into a tree causing a huge explosion. Everyone is talking but he's too far away to hear anything they are saying. Once Y/n makes it down to where the battle is happening the straw hats are gone and Rayleigh and Kizaru are in a death match.
Kizaru: Ohhh great of you to join me. Do me a favor would you? Go after the straw hats, you should be able to kill them as they are now.
Y/n: ... Understood.
Y/n goes to run past the battle happening but a sword pointed at his throat almost stops him, if it wasn't for the light bullet sent to the sword making it miss its target.
Kizaru: Your fight is with me Rayleigh.
With that Y/n Shaves completely away from the fight. He continues running until he sees another pacifista appear infront of the fatigued straw hats preparing to fire a beam at them through his mouth.
Orange haired girl: ANOTHER ONE?!?
Long nose: WE'RE GONNA DIEEEE!!!!!!!
Green haired dude: Shit!!
Blonde guy: Crap!
Black haired lady: Oh no!
Luffy: Dammitttt!!!
Y/n: Enough with the screaming your making my head ache worse.
The pacifista recognizes Y/n and powers down the beam in order to not hit him.
A literal skeleton: And who might you be?
He says drawing his sword. Y/n blatantly ignores him and grabs his nunchucks from his pocket. Everybody around Y/n tenses getting ready for a fight, but he does something they didn't expect... he swings his weapon and throws it at the pacifista, the nunchucks piercing its abdomen. The pacifista now recognizing Y/n as an enemy charges the beam again.
Y/n stays low to the ground and dodges every beam shot at him. Once he is directly under the hunk of metal he jumps up and grabs his weapon still rising, causing more damage to the pacifista. He reaches his peak height and begins to spin vertically and lets gravity do its job bringing him down fast.
Y/n: Hell's Downfall!
The attack lands on the pacifista's head crushing it beyond recognition and crashing into the ground, creating a huge crater. Y/n stumbles slightly as he lands.
Y/n: Damn that was a workout.
He says out of breath and with his head down. When he looks up he sees two blurs coming at him.
Y/n: Come on guys seriously? I just saved you all.
He says tired. Their attacks connect... at least that's what they thought. Y/n blocked blondie's by holding an arm next to his head and blocked green haired dude by blocking with his nunchucks.
Y/n: Damn you guys are tough even when you're tired.
He says straining his muscles.
Y/n: Heh, kind of reminds of the first time I met Ace. Do you remember Luffy?
Green haired dude: Ace?
Blonde guy: How do you know Ace?
They stand down with some hesitation. Both still glaring at Y/n like a hawk.
Y/n: I'm his big brother, that's how.
The group seems shocked. That's when confusion flows over Luffy's face.
Y/n: Luffy don't tell me you don't remember me, it hasn't been that damn long.
He says rubbing his neck and with a sheepish smile.
Black haired lady: Wait I've seen you before.
Long nose/little dog with hat: Ehh??
Y/n: We've crossed paths on a few occasions Nico Robin.
Buff dude: Just who are you then.
Y/n: Oh right, my bad. I'm Y/n Zel.
It finally hits Luffy all at once.
Luffy: ZELLYYYY!!
He runs and hugs Y/n. The crew is shocked to see that Y/n hugs him back.
Y/n: Hey dude how's it hanging.
He says smiling.
Luffy: I thought you were dead Zelly.
Y/n: What?! You dumbass I said you won't see me for a while! Not that I was going to die!
Luffy: Oh.
They stop hugging and Y/n is the first to speak.
Y/n: Sheesh. Anyway, what are you doing causing me this many problems huh? Actually don't answer that, anywhere you go trouble seems to follow.
He says sweatdroppjng. Luffy merely laughs while his crew is confused about the entire interaction. Luffy stops laughing and suddenly has a bright idea.
Luffy: Hey Y/n you can finally join my crew now!
He says with a wide smile. The crew is absolutely shook right now.
Y/n: Seriously?? I thought you were joking back then.
Orange haired girl: Wait a sec, you want a marine to join a pirate crew! What sense does that make??
Luffy: It makes sense to me, plus he promised that if I beat him in a fight that he'd join my crew.
He says with a proud smile. What he says slowly processes through Y/n's head.
Y/n: Oh shit. I guess I did say that. Well then, I guess you've got yourself a new crew mate.
Robin: Is it really gonna be that easy to leave the marines though? Won't they be after you for the knowledge you know?
Y/n: Of course they will, that's why I won't be joining you all just yet. I have some things to take care of within the marines and I'm not leaving until it's done. That ok with you Luffy?
Luffy: Hmm. As long as you join my crew then sure.
Y/n: Alright then. I'll meet up with you all soon, reinforcements are on their way so you'd better get going.
He says running away from the group. Then fatigue hits Y/n.
Y/n: 'What! No way! My body is shutting down! Shit!'
Y/n then collapses on the ground and feels rumbling.
Y/n: Move dammit.
His eyes begin to get heavy. Until he finally falls back into unconsciousness.
