Long long time ago, there was a dynasty that ruled most of the parts of India... According to ancient India, the kingdom was in Hastinapur... Maharaj Santanu ruled the kingdom at that time... He got married to Devi Ganga according to the wiah of his father... His father told him that a beautiful girl wanted to marry Santanu and told him so... He wanted his son to oblige to the wish of that beautiful young lady and never question her works... At the correct age, Maharaj Santanu married Devi Ganga... They were happy... But the heart wrenching site was that Maharaj Santanu had to bear the death of his own sons... One by one his sons were born and one after the other they were thrown in the waves of Ganga... After losing his 7 sons, when he was going to lose his 8th son he couldn't control himself and questioned her what was she doing... He wanted to keep atleast one son to become the descendant of the huge Kingdom... Ganga Devi smiled and told Maharaj Santanu about the history of the 8 Vasus who got cursed for stealing the cow of a sage... Since the 8th Vasu was at the fault he got cursed to spend a life of human in Earth while the rest of them were born for sometime... That's why she was throwing them away in the Ganga as per their wish... She handed his son to him and went away as per her promise of going away from him if he questioned her once...
When Devabrata came back after taking his lessons, Maharaj Santanu was very happy... But his happiness was short lived... On a fine day he saw a daughter of fisherman and liked her at the same instant... When je told her father that he wanted to marry her, he said he will give his daughter to him on a promise that his daughter, Satyavati's sons would rule the kingdom... Santanu never wanted to take away the rights of Devabrata... But Devabrata got to know about the situation and promised that he won't marry and won't take over the kingdom, thus solving the problem... Due to this big promise, he got the name Bhishna... Soon Vichitravirya and Chitrangada were born... Chitrangada died in a war when Vichitravirya was a kid... When Vichitravirya was of marrying age, Bhishma got him married to Ambika and Ambalika, the daughters of Kashi raj... Amba another daughter of Kashi raj was also brought for the same purpose but as she granted Shalya, a prince who came to her Swayamvar as her husband, she was released... But when she wasn't accepted there she imposed the fault of the whole situation on Bhishma... After all these, Ambika and Ambalika got pregnant through Maharshi Ved Vyas as Vichitravirya died and Pandu and Dhritarashtra were born... Pandu got the throne as Dhritarashtra was blind from birth and while he was the king, he killed a sage couple copulating thinking them to be deers... The sage while dying cursed Pandu that he will die when he will be in a situation to copulate with his wife...
Due to the curse of Pandu, he with his wives Kunti and Madri started residing in the forest in the outskirts of Hastinapur like the sages... Pandu started performing austerities to attain salvation...
He wished to have children... To give a proper descendant to Hastinapur who have the capacity to attain the throne after Dhritarashtra... But due to that curse, he couldn't...
His curse was that if he came in a position to copulate with his wife, he will succumb to death...
Kunti knew about the longing of Pandu... But couldn't think of anything to fulfill her husband's wish to get children... But suddenly one day she remembered about the boon... She told him about the boon... Pandu got very happy... He couldn't control his excitement... He was very happy...
He went to Rishis and Maharshis to know about auspicious days... And then on a fine auspicious day, Yudhishtir was born... The gift from Dharma Raj...
Like that, Bheem and Arjun too got born from Pavan Dev and Indra Dev...
Madri too wanted to get the happiness of being a mother... But couldn't ask Kunti to share the result of her sacrifice with her... Kunti understood what she wanted... And she offered Madri to be a mother too... Madri got happy... And on a fine day, both Nakul and Sahadev descended on the Earth... From Ashwini Kumars...
The 5 brothers had an age gap of 1 year each... They had the most pure bond in them... They started learning from their father about kingdom and politics... And about war and everything... Like this the time passed...
One fine day, when Kunti was passing through few Rishis, Rishi Durvasa came there... Seeing him, Kunti went to him to serve him... But Rishi Durvasa refused to accept her service... Kunti got disheartened... She asked Rishi Durvasa if she did something wrong unknowingly and if so, what can be done to rectify it...
Rishi Durvasa told her that by letting Karna go away from her, she had disgraced the gift of God... And God Surya Narayan is very much angry with her for doing so... He also told her that if she wants to rectify her mistake, she needs to take care of Karna as his mother...
Kunti got tensed and scared.... She knew that if society comes to know about this, it will bring disgrace to her family... Also the Kuru clan won't accept him... The boy would have to lead a miserable life...
Rishi Durvasa left her cottage saying that she should come up with a solution to her problem if she wants to protect herself from the wrath of the Gods as it will lead her children to become an orphan at a young age and would affect their future...
Thinking about all these she went to her cottage to see all her children playing together... She decided to end the matter sooner or else it would eat up her mind...
So as per her thought, she went to meet her husband... After some time, she came across the tree where Pandu meditated and saw that he was talking with a few of saints...
She waited for him... And after a few minutes, the saints went away... Pandu saw his wife standing away from him looking nervous and anxious...
Pandu : What happened Priye? Why are you looking anxious and nervous? Everything is fine right?
Kunti : Everything is alright Arya... But I need to share something with you.
Pandu : Go on Priye... I'm all ears.
Kunti : I don't know how to share this with you, Arya... It's a bit serious and complicated too...
Pandu : You know that I trust you right? I won't judge you by whatever you say... Now come on I'm waiting.
Kunti : Aaa--- Arya I gave birth to a son before getting married to you.
Pandu : What? Are you out of your senses?
Kunti : No Arya I'm perfectly alright... And I'm saying the truth... I have an elder son apart from these 5.
Pandu : How did it happen?
Kunti : I told you about the boon of Rishi Durvasa... After getting the boon, I got curious about its effects and its truthfulness and to pacify my curiosity, I called God Surya Narayan through the boon just like I called the other Gods... And when He came, He gave me a part of Him as my son... I was very nervous and scared... I feared that it would bring disgrace to my family... I didn't want my father to be blamed of wrong upbringing... I discussed this with my Sakhi... She gave me the idea of sending him away through the waves of Ganga... Due to my nervousness and constant fear, I gave in and sent him away.
Pandu : How could you be this heartless Kunti? I never thought you could think like this... Do you even have any idea what you have done? Didn't I ask you when you told me about this boon whether you have any son or not? Ohh I see... You didn't even trust me to tell me all these... If you would have told me about all these I would have searched him and adopted him... But no... Now why are you saying all these to me?
Kunti : Rishi Durvasa advised me... He told me that God Surya Narayan is very angry with me and that I should come up with a solution soon or else it would effect our children too...
Pandu : Kunti, that mantra was given to you by Rishi Durvasa... How can it bring disgrace? Don't you have a single faith in God? Now leave... I want some time for myself to think about the situation.
Kunti : But Arya...
Pandu : You lost that right Kunti... No relationship is stable without trust... And today you proved that you didn't trust me... Trust my love... You lost your right to call me Arya... Now go...
As Kunti left him alone crying and cursing her fate, Pandu understood her situation too... Though he was very sad about the fact that she didn't share it with him, he also understood that any woman would have done that if she was in her position... He understood the pain she felt when she let her son go away from her... He understood she was forced to do so... Forced by the society and their cruel rules...
He now regretted saying all those things to Kunti earlier... He loved Kunti and trusted her too but at that moment the fact that she hid something from him teared him apart...
Let's see what he does in this situation...
