I walked through the halls. Ever since they 'found out' that I couldn't see Theresa any more -as if, I could still see her and even feel her now- they've been ,much more lenient about letting me wander. I checked the clock that's on every wall. 5 more minutes until the art class we have.
Allow me to explain. Here in Hell, we have multiple classes for letting out what they believe is making us insane. As if. They're the insane ones here. Sorry. Of topic again. Anyway, there are multiple classes, right? There's art, music, drama, and so on. They even have CAT scans for those who they believe need extreme amounts of help. What's with them thinking our brain activity has anything to do with us being here?
Oh. Right. They think we're insane. That's it.
So, as I was saying, they have arts programs to help us 'get better', as they say. More like, 'We are trying to control you and your powers so that you can't live normal lives. And so that we can feel all powerful.'. That's pretty much what they are thinking when they lock us up in here.
As I wandered again, I noticed Jezleen talking to a new girl. Great. Another newbie here in Hell. I looked at Theresa. She shrugged.
"She may be the same as you, she may be different. That's all I know." she said. I wanted to punch her face in. That was absolutely no help whatsoever. I glared at her some more before turning to the new girl again. She had pure black hair, and her eyes...
I froze when we looked into each other's eyes. Hers were pure white, like only her pupil could be seen. I knew that she was probably thinking about how my eyes were evil or something like that, and just when I was about to go up to her and talk to her, Jezleen turned her away and was showing her to the art room. She must be in our hall then, for Jezleen to be showing her around. I turned to Theresa, and mouthed a single message.
"She has the eyes." I mouthed to her. She blinked at me. Then she understood.
That girl had the eyes of those who could see ghosts, like me.
Maybe Jezleen could see ghosts too, I had never bothered to look in her eyes. Mainly because she always getting in my way. I walked towards the art room, and the hourly bell chimed, announcing that it was time to go to your next program. All except those who have been hallucinating.
I walked in, and the only open seat was next to the new girl. I plopped down on the wooden stool, and turned to face the ass in charge of this program. I never bothered learning his name, so I just called him Mr. Ass. The new girl stood up when he told her to.
"I'm Audri. Nice to meet you." she said. My eyes widened as I now recognized her. She was the one who passed by me while I was talking to Theresa, the one who mouthed that she had seen that. I glared at her. If she slipped up I would be locked in my room for at least another week. I needed to get her on my side, but she was with Jezleen...
This was gonna be a challenge. I looked back at her, and she was fiddling with the black dress they had fitted on her. It was identical to everyone else's, pure black with short sleeves, and a skirt that slowed straight down to the knees. Fortunately, had told them that I would rather walk around naked then wear a dress, so they gave my the boy outfit, an outfit that was almost like nurse scrubs, just more fitting. Unfortunately, they had to wash it every once a week, so today I was stuck in the same dress as the other girls. I could already see the guys eyeing my legs, hoping to see up the skirt. Why did thy even fit us in the same program as them again?
I picked up my paint, like Mr. Ass said fuzzily to us -I was focusing on something else- and I started painting. As I painted, memories that I never knew existed flooded into my mind.
Theresa and I were running around on a well kept lawn. She was chasing me, and I was laughing. I couldn't be any older then 3 at this time. A man walked out to us, and I ran into his arms.
"Save me from the tickle monster, daddy!" my 3 year old self giggled. Daddy? I looked closely at this man. He had red hair, a red silk shirt with black slacks, and a black robe that flowed out behind him. Then I noticed his eyes. They were the same pitch black colour as mine. My 3 year old self giggled as he clutched me closer to him.
"Stay away from my daughter, you beast!" he announced jokingly, holding a hand out to stop Theresa. Theresa was giggling her heart out.
"Then you should know that this beast be your wife, warrior." she said, and lunged for me. Theresa was my mother? That would explain why we looked so alike...
Daddy dropped me, and I started running towards the fountain as he held Theresa back, both f them laughing. Then, Theresa broke out of his grip, and darted for me. I jumped into the fountain, and started splashing Theresa with the water. She laughed and backed away. Daddy laughed.
"Purified water! My daughter is a genius!" he said, and tickled Theresa from behind. She laughed, and tried to get out of his reach. She miscalculated that I would be in front of her, there to tickle her again.
"Be purified by tickling!" I said, and tickled her some more. She laughed and tried to get out of my little hands.
The scene changed...
"Mommy? Daddy? Where are you?!" I screamed through the thick, black smoke. I started coughing, and fell to my knees. Where was the smoke coming from? Where was mommy and daddy? I could feel the fear of my little self coming through.
"Scarlet! Scarlet, run!" Theresa screamed. She grabbed my hand and started dragging me through the smoke. I looked back to see daddy fighting off some men.
"Mommy, what's happening? Who is that?" I asked. Theresa looked at me, her eyes filled with tears and sadness.
"Daddy and I won't be around for much longer, honey. But I'll always protect you." she said, kissed my forehead, and shoved me into a room. The smoke couldn't get into this room. I crawled into the corner, tears streaking down my face. I don't know how long I stayed there, but I heard a man coming up to me. I looked up at him. I recognized him right off the bat. That was the man that brought me here, to Hell. He smiled at me.
"I'll take you somewhere safe, alright?" he said. I looked up at him.
"What did you do to mommy and daddy?" I asked accusingly. That was good, I knew to not trust him from the beginning. He glared at me.
"They got in the way of my research. They had to be... eliminated." he said, and hit my neck. The vision turned black, and when the vision came back, I was back to my first memory.
As the vision ended, rage filled my body. That bastard, he killed my family! And all for what? To use e as research? Iwouldn't let him get away with this. As the bell rang for us to switch programs, I took a good look at my canvas. It was a picture of my mother and father holding mini me in the air, in our old yard. Surprise went through me. Did I paint that when I was having the vision? Theresa, or should I say mother, floated next to me.
"Now you see why I stayed here, with you. You're father has been watching the man who had us killed to get to you. You need to trust people. They will help you." she said, placing her hand on my shoulder. I nodded, and put the canvas on the person's desk. I then walked out of the room, and a person poked my arm. I turned to see the new girl.
"Who's the ghost?" she mouthed. My eyes widened as I realized she must have seen Theresa. I pulled her to the side.
"You saw that?" I asked. She nodded. My eyes widened.
"Did they give you a pill or a shot?" I asked. She looked at me. I saw it in her eyes. She didn't know, like I didn't. Could she see ghosts now? I remember I couldn't see ghosts until after about 2 hours after the drug kicked in. After that, I could see them for life. I nodded as she spoke slowly.
"How long does it take to kick in? I never could see ghosts before this." she said. I nodded at this.
"For me, it took a few hours." I said. she nodded, and turned as Jezleen came over. She glared at me.
"Stay away from my friend, freak." she said, and dragged the new girl away. She turned back to me.
"My name's Audri! What's yours?" she asked. I remembered mother's advice. I needed to trust if I was going to get out of here.
"It's Scarlet!" I called out to her. She nodded.
"It was nice meeting you, Scarlet!" she exclaimed. I waved to her, and a warm feeling came over me.
Had I just made... a friend?

Finally done! I'll be honest, I was busy with other stories while I took a break from this. I finished this chapter in 2 goes. Oh well. Good thing I remembered this.
