It started mildly but after one hour it started raining heavily. Priya lived in small room build on terrace. Her room was more of store-room. Only small space for her bed and her things. But it was very neatly kept room.
Her modest bed was just enough to accommodate her. Her dresses were in small wooden almirah. She didn't have much clothes to begin with. Her wearable dresses were all kindness by her bestfriend -Kinjal.
It's been a while since her parents bought anything for her. Although her father has given money to her stepmother on festivals but she always finds excuses to spend that money elsewhere.
Priya doesn't complaints. She understands hardship her father goes to manage the family. She doesn't want to burden him with guilt. So she never asks for anything.
Tonight rain was somewhat frightening her. Clouds made the night very dark. After few minutes some thunderous flashings were splitting the Vail of dark clouds. She was unable to sleep. So she sat up and lit her oil lamp.
Power cuts were normal in this small town especially during storms. She started reading some previous entries from her personal diary.
Suddenly front door of her room burst open. I must have forgotten to properly lock the front door. She thought. Her oil lamp turned off by the incoming wind.
It was so dark that she found it difficult to navigate to door. Yet she decided to close the door and got up. As soon as she started walking towards the door, a flash in sky illuminated her room and her heart dropped in her stomach.
Someone was in her room.
A towering figure was standing in front of her. The man was of muscular and athletic build. He was holding a gun pointing towards her. The man was probably in his mid twenties. She couldn't see his face properly.
As soon as flashing went away there was darkness again and Priya's heart was beating so hard she felt she is going to have a stroke very soon.
She could have screamed but her voice was lost in her throat by shock. She instantly froze in her place. Few seconds went away and nothing happened.
'Light the lamp' A firm voice echoed in her room. She flinched and almost ran towards matches. With trembling fingers she lit the lamp and turned to look towards intruder.
The guy was pointing a gun towards her. His jaws were clenched. He was dripping water all over her room. His chiseled face was raw yet impressionable. He had neatly trimmed beard. The veins of his muscular hands were clenched and very noticeable.
'Who..... Who... are you? How did you come to my room?' she somehow managed to get her voice back.
'Shut up or I will shoot you right here.' He went back and closed the door.
What in the seven hell was happening. Her head started spinning.
