Humid wind whistled between the trees that surrounded a cave some familiar characters called home as the sound of bubbling lava from within the neighbouring volcano vibrated the ground. Leaves that coated the soil like an auburn carpet crunched delicately as (f/c) paws pattered across them.

(Y/n)'s heart sank to wherever was the furthest it could drop, seeing Gummi isolated within the darkness of the cave with the most heartbroken expression she never thought possible across his adorable face.

It had been a few days since the destruction of New York, and she could admit that her crush hadn't been taking it very well. He missed the attention. He missed the fame. But he felt it was all his fault the city became a pile of dust in the first place.

She sighed, claws tracing shapes against the rock creating the homely room as the same sensation that seemed to occur whenever Gummi was nearby returned once again.

I have to say something.

I can't keep this quiet any longer.

She took a few trembling steps into the black abyss of the cave, only just being able to make out the shape of her saddened bear companion. Gummi was curled up in one of the multiple pastel blue and ivory coloured egg shells that lay in the corner of the cave, eyes staring down to whatever he was fiddling with in his hands.

(Y/n) slowly headed towards him, standing in the perfect place to alert him of her presence as her shadow casted her shape into the space ahead through the shimmering evening sunlight.

She sighed, heartbeat pounding in her chest. She entered the cave, sliding into the neighbouring dinosaur egg to Gummi without a word. Gummi slowly turned to her, a fake smile welcoming her inside.

"Everything okay?" (Y/n) kindly asked, noticing a small trinket Gummi had claimed from the adventures to the city being a badge reading I NYC.

"Yeah..." Gummi lied obviously.

He sighed. "I just liked having all the attention. I felt like we were finally doing something with our lives... I dunno, it sounds stupid."

(Y/n) sighed back, Gummi twiddling with the badge before sliding it away in the depths of the orange fluff of his underwear.

She threw herself back, head touching the rocky wall. "It doesn't, because I did too."

Gummi turned to her in surprise.

"It was definitely the most exciting and adrenaline rushing thing I've ever done." (Y/n) admitted.

"But... I have something more important to tell you..." She began, earning all ears from Gummi as his azure gaze locked with her own.

She could feel the heat rising like a burning flame once again, taking a deep breath before her quaking voice escaped her throat.

"Well, I wanna say your music and everything was amazing." (Y/n) simply admitted, a cheeky smile coming from Gummi.

"Thanks."

(Y/n) became a little distracted by his adorable smile, gulping to allow the words trapped in her throat to escape and tell Gummi what she was dying for him to hear.

"And, uh... I have something else I really need to tell you."

Silence. Just a confused yet intrigued expression.

(Y/n) took a final deep breath, keeping her gaze to her fiddling claws rather than the captivated expression that caused her cheeks to be dusted crimson.

"I like you."

She sighed with relief that she finally managed to say what her heart had wanted to hear herself say for so long.

Gummi smirked, half-lidded eyes causing (Y/n) to heat up to the point she thought she would explode.

"I like you, too." He replied, voice filled with the most certainty she had ever heard.

She stared to him with shock, mouth opening to continue the conversation but Gummi's adorable voice filling the humid air cut her off.

"I should say I love you, too. But I don't know if that's what you meant." He replied with pure honesty, body slipping back until he laid flat within the eggshell. "Well, either way you know how I feel now."

(Y/n) smiled. "I did."

Gummi turned to her, now possessing the happiest smile she had ever seen. She reached out her hand towards him, Gummi taking her grip immediately as their fingers gently intertwined.

"And... I have something else to show you." (Y/n) added, the two of them rising from the delicate shells as Gummi raised an eyebrow.

Their hands remained gently connected, (Y/n) leading Gummi into the golden light that sunset painted sky brushed against the grassy land just outside the cave.

Gummi followed in confusion yet interest. (Y/n) could feel his grip against her hand becoming tighter as they reached the same darkness that consumed the jungle behind the cave they had discovered before.

It was the same place they discovered the portal. And the same place they leapt into a life changing event.

Gummi's heartbeat increased as (Y/n) lead him into the woods, a familiar sound tickling his ears as a smile crept across his previously confused expression.

He could clearly see the aquamarine colour that illuminated the darkness of the collection of tropical trees, memories of the event of the previous week playing back in his mind.

(Y/n)'s grip gently slid from Gummi's, observing her leaping into the portal that had become visible as they delved deeper into the jungle.

Gummi smirked, the buzzing sound increasing in volume as (Y/n) slid through. Without a second thought, he leapt in behind her, darkness consuming his vision for a few seconds although he was prepared for what was to come.

He flickered his eyes open as soon as possible, (Y/n) already stood before him with a paw to help him up. Gummi chuckled, gently taking her grip as a beaming smile couldn't spread any further across his face.

Gummi rose from the same harbour he had crashed onto before, observing the same city he had explored before. His jaw softly opened, struggling to close in surprise as the city before him was no longer crumbling to the ground.

Everything was as it was; towering buildings whose glass windows glistened in the sunlight, cars speeding down the roads that no longer suffered from cracks slithering in result of an earthquake, water sparkling beside him with the memorable statute still in the clouded distance.

"According to Harry, we can come and visit any time, just not stay for too long." (Y/n) explained.

Gummi smiled towards her, both of his hands reaching for hers as they gently intertwined. Their eyes locked, (Y/n) giggling while bashfully turning away before any more heat could rise to her already crimson cheeks.

"Wanna go?" (Y/n) gestured towards the city that clearly overflowed with hundreds of thousands of residents who would be delighted to see the Bangaman return if he just took a few more steps.

Gummi sighed, the soft breath becoming another beaming grin as he turned from observing the mesmerising cityscape to lock eyes with (Y/n) once again.

"Yeah, but there's something I really want to do first." Gummi smirked, hands sliding from (Y/n)'s and holding onto her cheeks seconds later.

Before she could say a thing, their lips connected. A moment they both had been dreaming of for as long as they could remember. It felt more incredible than they had ever imagined, feeling like it was meant to be. Fate. Perfection.

Both their eyes fluttered closed before the unbelievable moment came to an end. They caught their breath, Gummi smirking towards (Y/n) before he intertwined his fingers with hers once again.

"C'mon, there's not a moment to lose." Gummi chuckled, (Y/n) giggling with the most joy he had ever heard in such an angelic, soft sound.

The two of them darted into the sunset that casted intimidating shadows from the hundreds of towering skyscrapers across the paths and pavements that were the habitat for them.

To bring the musical sensation of Bangaman to futuristic human kind once again.

The End
