okay so back to what i was saying
i completely stopped updating this book a while ago but YESTERDAY i saw something on YT and i IMMEDIATELY thought of this.
that something that i saw was this mf:
yep, that is the freaking trailer for amazon's lotr tv show
and no i will not be referring to it as rInGs oF pOwEr
for me to call something or someone by its name I have to have a certain amount of respect for it. in this case..... well actually imma save that rant for later. point is in my mind its still just "the lotr tv show" but MAYBE (MAYBE) if it does something i genuinely like ill change my mind and itll get to be called by its title

anyways, i saw this on yt duh and i have THOUGHTS. so ofc im writing a chapter about it here. so first let's get one thing 150% straight:
There are two types of people when it comes to the LOTR show, those who think it might be alright, and those who think it'll be a total and complete and utter trainwreck.
I am very much divided between the two.
NOW BEFORE YALL COME FOR ME LET ME JUST EXPLAIN MY REASONS OKAY
ALSO I SAID DIVIDED OKAY D I V I D E D THERES STUFF IM EXCITED FOR AND THERE'S STUFF I HATE
so here is all the reasons that im NOT excited for the show (ill do a separate chapter for stuff i AM excited for):
1) the vibes. oh my fucking god dude is jeff bezos on crack????????????????
okay im sorry i dont usually swear in this book but i freaking HAD TO BC OMFG OIEHODJKEBJDE
THE VIBES ARE SO SO SO SO OFF
like have y'all watched the trailer??? like REALLY REALLY watched it??? THAT IS NOT MIDDLE-EARTH
like that was genuinely one of my first thoughts after I watched the trailer: This is not Middle-Earth. The vibes are just not Middle-Earthy
and whats even more ironic about it is that honestly if anything it gives me NARNIA vibes
like that bright atmosphere, the younger protagonists, the explore-the-world theme-- ITS NARNIA
AND THATS SO IRONIC BC TOLKIEN AND CS LEWIS WERE LITERALLY FRIENDS
so in heaven or the afterlife or wherever rn im assuming theyre dying of laughter about it
like it either gives me a) Narnia vibes b) King Arthur vibes (come on, that last shot with the ominous dude breaking the stone, pshhh THATS ARTHUR) or c) Disney/Pixar movie vibes. specifically the newer ones. like i said the whole explore-the-world thing and the adventurous younger protagonist running away from home (like in that part of the trailer where the girl's hair is lifted and you can see that she's an elf) is giving Merida vibes tbh
like is that just me????
and especially the elves. can we talk about the elves???? like that first shot where the dude catches the arrow from the air and nocks it was absolutely iconic and i LOVED it (FINALLY were showing the full scope of the elves' power!!!!!) so thats not my problem. my problem is that second shot of that elf in the green cloak thing with brown hair.
bestie idfk wtf that is but the vibes are not elvish to me
like at all.
but only in the second shot though, so let's not focus on that alright???
2) the plot (or more like the theme)
Okay i just really really really really FREAKING HATE the fAThEr wHeN aM i gOiNg tO sEe tHe rEaL wOrLd i hAvE tHe wHoLe wOrLd tO sEe theme in movies
yk, where it's like the pick me protagonist is tired of their life and wants to escape and see the world
like i thought we left that in the 2000s and im happy with that please and thank you
so im just not thrilled that our boy jeffrey decided to chose that specific theme ESPECIALLY for the second age
(note about my prev. point: i understand that since its the second age and not the third the vibes of middle-earth are gonna be different. but come on. you cannot deny that something is just so OFF)
the second age to me is completely different so im really not thrilled at that choice of plotline AT ALL
....buuuut thats kinda just a thing that bothers me and annoys me. its not a huge HOUIGUOYUEFUYDJV moment for me. yk??
3) that first shot. *sigh sigh sigh sigh sigh* that first shot.
okay i UNDERSTAND that movies and tv shows now rely more on CGI than practical effects than they did in 98-99 when the original trilogy was filmed. i fully comprehend that i assure you

......but i was really hoping to see young galadriel in the trailer

BC I LOVE THE CHOICE OF ACTRESS FOR HER
and im freaking excited abt the fact that she's gonna be in it-!!!!!

4) the fact that theyre casting for nudity
i saw someone make a joke about this being like "WHOS GONNA BE NUDE, THE ENTS?!?!??!?" which made me die laughing and tbh i agree
i LOVE the fact that amazon is making tolkien's universe more diverse (PLEASE do not be that asshole of a person that says that no one in middle-earth was a person of colour and i wOnT wAtCh iT iF tHe eLvEs aRe bLaCk-- like no. no sweetie there's the door. there's the freaking door. the old side of the fandom is definitely coming out of their shells bc of the show just to SCREAM at amazon that everyone in the legendarium is cishet, straight and white. like bestie that shit yeeted itself out of the fandom in the fifties and you need to gtfo. this is coming from an aralas shipper so YK i mean it.) BUTTTTT nudity is a bit much just for personal preference
but i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for better representation!!!!!! i might have to do a separate chapter where i say stuff i AM excited for bc there is still a lot dw guys, and better rep is a BIG thing on that list!!!!!!!!

i think calling it basically a force of evil a LOT much and we dont need to go that far. i definitely respect our boy jeff bezos for doing something new with tolkien's legendarium, and i feel bad for the fact that he's probably losing hope reading the comments on the trailer

i mean we all agree that half of the comments attributing to this revolution are bots right???? so obviously dont agree with that.
