I was greeted by the cold breeze that made me shiver. They weren't snow here in the Philippines but why is this so cold that it's like snowing in here?
"It's so cold," Sapphire complained while hugging herself.
"Eh?Anong gusto namin gawin sayo?Yakapin ka?"sabi ni Natasha at tinignan naman siya ng masama ni Sapphire.
"Sinabi ko lang na nagiginaw ako, tanga!"Natasha was shocked and they were bickering again. I and Amber shook our heads at what they were doing.
Pumara kami ng taxi at sumakay na kami. Pumunta muna kami ng grocery store upang mamili ng pagkain. After that, we head to a taxi and told him to take us to our destination.We are going to see Cassidy today and check on her.
Paglabas namin sa taxi ay binayaran ko siya. Kumatok kami at bumukas ang pinto at bumungad sa amin si Tita. She looked at us, wide-eyed.
"Hi po tita."
"Oh, hija?Ang aga niyo, ah!Bakit kayo nandito?"tanong niya at nagmano kami sa kanya bago kami pumasok sa loob.
"Nambisita po."sagot ni Amber.
"Kamusta po si Cassidy?"ngiting tanong ako.
"Ayon! Nanonood ng tv."sabi niya at tinuro si Cassidy na busy sa panonood ng cartoons na hindi niya kami napansin. "Cassidy!Nandito sila ate Amber, ate Sapphire, ate Natasha, at ate Jewel mo!"Lumingon si Cassidy at lumiwanag ang mukha niya nang makita kami apat.
"Cassidy!" Sapphire squealed and approached Cassidy.
"Ate Sapphire!"Cassidy said and Sapphire hugged her. Natasha and Amber also approached her and hugged her. She was giggling which made me smile.
Her smile grew bigger when she saw me, I approached her and hugged her.
"Hi Cassidy."
"Ate Jewel." I let go and smiled at her. After that, I approached their mother and helped her with the groceries.
"Nasan po si Carter?"I asked
"Ahh babalik lang iyon." she said and smiled at me. I heard squeals and giggles from the four. I looked back at them and saw them playing with Cassidy."Ang dami naman na dinala niyong groceries.Salamat ha."
"Walang anuman po."
"Jewel?Anong ginawa niyo dito?"takang tanong ni Carter.
"Nagbisita sa kapatid mo."I answered and smiled and he slowly nodded.
After that, her mom cooked some food even though we already told her that we already ate. We still ate her food, since its so delicious. The three continued on talking to Cassidy and Carter excuse us. I don't know what this is about but I sense that this is important. His expression look serious.
"What? Did something happen?"I asked, worriedly. May sakit na naman ba si Cassidy?
"I saw you."He said. My brows furrowed. Saw me? Where? "Hindi mo sinabi na may anak kana pala."He smirked and suddenly I remembered that I was with Jace yesterday.
"F*ck you, Carter." I said and he laughed. "Akala ko pa naman ano ang sasabihin mo."
"Kasama pala kayo ni Jace. I didn't know that two of you are now close."He teased and I rolled my eyes.
"We're not. It's just a one time thing."
"Bagay kayo."I looked at him, like he had grown two heads. I wanted to gagged. Bagay? Kaming dalawa? Since when?
"Excuse me?"
"You sound offended."
Oh, yes. I am.
"Because I literally am."
"You don't accept it as a compliment?"I glared at him. He laughed as if this was all amusing to him. Then, he stopped. I thought he would say he was kidding. But he-"But I'm serious. Bagay kayo."
"Shut up."
Ugh! I didn't want to hear it! Bagay?! Kaming dalawa?! We're literally enemies that walk on this earth!
"Its no question that the more time you spent with him can make you fall for him."
I scoffed. "That's not gonna happen."
"You never know." He teased and came closer to my face. I pushed it away and he laughed.
Three weeks have been passed and I was reminded every time of what Carter told me. Fall for him?! Not even a thousand years! He's not even my cup of tea!
How can I fall for some cold and sarcastic as*hole? And even act arrogantly? If he's the only person left on earth that I had to marry, I would rather die single and be contented with my books.
But guys in books that I like are cold, sarcastic, and arrogant-BUT THEY ARE DIFFERENT! They certainly act indifferent, but they CARE! I don't know if Jace cares for me.
Not that I give a f*ck about it. Who cares if he doesn't care?!
I should really stop talking to my inner self. People would start to think that I'm insane.
I was now walking at the corrider and saw some girls chatting some guys and asking something about a date and the guys agreed. Everywhere in the corridor, I saw people doing the same thing.
My eyebrows furrowed. Is this reverse psychology?
I felt someone touch my shoulders. I turned around and saw Carter smiling at me. I smiled back and we were now walking together to class.
"What's with them?" I asked pointing at girls asking out some guys and the guys agreed.
"Oh. You didn't know?" he asked, confused and then it hit him. "Of course not, Carter. How dumb could you be?" He said and facepalmed himself and I was looking at him confused. "Its a bit of tradition at school every birthday of the dean which is the day after tommorow. That there would be a big party and everyone is required a date. But the twist is the girls would be asking out the guys."
"Is that required?" My brows furrowed.
"Yes, and you can't enter if you don't have one."
"Well, that's a bit unfair." I grunted. "What if the girls doesn't have the boldness to ask?"
"Their problem." kibit-balikat niyang sabi.
"Have you joined 'this party'?"
"Yup, its easy for me to have a date, since girls love me.I have a handsome face, you know."he arrogantly said that made me laughed.
"Sure."I said and fakely smiled."So, we should go out as a date to this party, then. There's no bad thing since we're friends."I casually said and he looked at me startled.
"That's so casual, Jewel."he said and laughed."You caught me off guard!"he laughed again but I was just looking at him, seriously. "Wait. You're serious?!"his eyes widened and I raised my right eyebrow.
"Am I joking to you?"
"I w-wanted to, but someone already asked me. "he said and looked away and I wanted to facepalmed myself. Did I just get rejected? I mean I don't even expect him to leave his date just for me. That would make me a bad friend.
"O-oh. It's okay."
"You should ask someone else, like Jace-ouch!"I elbowed him before he could finish the name, but he still did.
He glared at me and touched his stomach and complaining of how hard I hit him. But I didn't mind him and just laughed. When we get to the classroom, before I head inside I saw Jace looking bored and when he saw me, he smirked. And I rolled my eyes. I'm glad that he kept what I said. We are still enemies after all.
"Looks like something has changed from that day." Carter said and nudged me. Of course, he got the wrong idea.
"We still hate each other."I argue back.
"Continue to be denial on yourself and we'll see who's the fool." he said and head to his seat, with a smirk on his lips. I rolled my eyes.
I sighed and sat at my seat. I saw the girls giving me teasing looks and I glared at them. I sat down and. grabbed my notebooks and pens at the desk. I saw that Jace was watching my every move and I looked at him to ask.
"Is there any problem?"I asked him. He just shake his head and look away.
The professor entered the room and gave us a new project. He said that it will be in pair and I looked at Amber wanting to be pair with her, when suddenly the professor said that our seatmate will be our pair.
I looked at the front, eyes widened. I can feel his stare at me. D*mn. So much for us not getting close.
"Unlucky me for being partnered with you."I grimaced and he chuckled.
"I'm not someone that is called unlucky when I am being grouped by a project. A lot of our blockmates would be glad that I am paired with them."He gave me a look that screams arrogance. He even tilted his glasses.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Such arrogance."
Its hard to think that this cold, sarcastic, and arrogant bastard is the same person who is good with kids kind of guy yesterday. Its just a bit that you can doubt yourself if its the same person. Well, I should not judge him. We all release our bad sides to people we hate. Its kind of funny that we actually act differently to different people. And you might sometimes wonder if you're matching their energy or are you being different from yourself.
We were now at the library and reading some books for the project. I sighed and closed the book and looked at him.
"Stop staring."I said in a serious tone.
"Why?"
"Staring is rude."I said, and he laughed remembering that he was the one who told me that, back then. Now it was me, who is telling him. I couldn't help but to laugh back, we were trying to tone it down, so we won't be kicked out.
We saw four girls approaching us-well to him, while giggling for themselves. We stopped laughing ang looked at them. They were pushing and then the girl in the middle then had the courage to approach Jace. Jace was looking at a book, looking bored and a bit cold and distant. He looks like a professor, a very cold and distant professor.
I looked away and tried to focus my attention at the book and not at Jace.
"Uh, excuse me?"she said and we looked at her, altogether. She squeaked when she saw how intimidating we were. I gave her a smile while Jace still look mean. Nothing ever change.
"W-would y-you be my d-date to the b-ball?"she asked Jace and I looked at Jace waiting for his answer.
"No "he said and continued reading his book. My jaws dropped and then the girl retreated. The girl was also shocked and when they were all together, they started giggling. I was confused. Was it a big achievement for them to ask him out, even if they're rejected?
"Why did you reject her?"I asked him and he looked at me, eyebrows raise.
"I'm looking for someone that suits my taste."he gazed at me before looking back at his book.
"You know having high standards will eventually lead you to be lonely in your existing life. "I am a hypocrite by saying that. I have F*cking high standards in my life and this will eventually cause me to be lonely.
"I didn't say standard. I meant someone who matches my interest."
Well...i don't think there is one. If there is I would be calling it Jace girl version 2.0
I chuckled."Good luck finding that."
"That's the 25th girl who asked me."he said and my jaw dropped.
"What?!"I said in a tone vorso and he doesn't even look bothered. He was not saying it in an arrogant tone that he's bragging that many girls ask him out but more of a completely bored person.
"I do have the looks, so it's not quite a shock to me that a lot of girls would flock to take me as their date. It's tiresome." He added, still with that arrogant smirk on his lips. I scoffed. I change my mind. He's still arrogant. Completely bored of wanting to do this everyday that 'many girls love her'. I wanted to puke! "How about you?"he asked.
Oh, so now he's asking about my date? Touché.
He fixed his circular glasses and combed his hair a bit, still staring at me. Waiting for my answer. Sometimes, he reminds me of Harry Potter, minus the Hogwarts uniform and messy hair.
"I ask Carter out and he rejected me."I said and a snort escape his lips.
"Ouch."I rolled my eyes at him. Clearly, he sounded mocking.
"He's already with someone."I added. "I'm not going anymore."I piled the books that I need to read later at the house.
"I thought you liked parties." His brows furrowed. Wow. He knows that?
"I do, but I just want to stay in bed that day."I said and smiled at him, before grabbing my bag and carrying the books."I better go."
"Wait-"I was already out at the library when he shouted. I was walking at the corridor while carrying the books, when I suddenly saw Damon with his friends. I ran and shouted his name!
"D-damon!"he looked at me and told his friends something that made them looked at me and playfully punched him and they left. Damon approach me, while I was also running towards him.
"Jewel."he smiled.
"C-can we go t-together at t-the b-ball?"I said, hopeful that he'll say yes.
"Oh. I'm sorry, Jewel. I'm going out with my cousin that day. I-i thought y-you were going out with Jace."he said and looked away. I was shocked and didn't know what to do.
"I-its okay."I said and smiled and he was about to tell me something when suddenly someone shouted his name.
"Damon!"
We looked at the girl and then I realized this must be his cousin. I smiled and she smiled back.
"I better go, Jewel. We still need to practice for the dance."he said and smiled at me.
"Y-yeah, sure."I said and smiled back and he left, running to his cousin. "Why do people think that I'm going with Jace at the ball?!"I couldn't help but ask.
"Because they think that you two are a couple."Nagulat ako na may nagsalita sa likod ko.
"W-what?"I looked back and saw.."Kaizer?"
"Hey, listen, uh, I was wondering if you-"
"Why are you asking me?Are you supposed to be with Amber? And does the girls supposed to be the one asking the boys?"I asked and he chuckled.
"Jewel, you didn't let me finish."he sighed."I was asking you what would Amber prefer flowers or chocolates?"
"Why?"I asked, confuse. Is it their anniversary?
"She didn't ask me out."he said and looked away, like it was a humiliating sh*t ever, but it was not.
"Yet."I said and smiled."And dude, are you gonna ask her out instead of her?"
"Well.....yes. I was gonna ask her."he said and scratch his nape and my jaws dropped. Is that even allowed?"O-okay, I was scared. What if she doesn't want to go with me?What if she ask another guy?I mean I annoy the sh*t out of her to be my girlfriend and I'm thankful that she fell for me but what if she-"
"Do you trust her?"I cut him off and he looked at me, confused.
"W-what?Y-yes, of course!"he said with no doubt and I couldn't help but smile.
"Then, wait for her to ask you out."I said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"But what if she-"
"She would. Just be patient. You didn't technically force her to be with you, right?"I asked, while smiling.
"Well, no, but-"
"What I know about Amber is she won't let anybody force or control hee.Just trust her."I said and patted his shoulder."And if you want to feel better. She's nervous."I said and winked.
"W-what?"
"She may be a bad b*tch, but she's one heck of a nervous person." I chuckled revealing a secret that will forever make Amber kill me. I am already imagining her with a knife and having those murderous eyes.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."I gave him a smile."And she prefers flowers than chocolates. Red roses specifically. "he beamed.
"O-okay, thanks."he said and smiled at me."I know its weird to ask but you. What's your favorite?"
"I prefer chocolates, any kind. And the flowers, hmm tulips I think."I said and he nodded. I heard him whisper under his breathe, remembering what I said. It made me confuse of why he asked.
"Thank you."he said and suddenly hugged me. He whispered something and I couldn't quite hear.
"Pardon?"
"Nothing."he said and let go from the hug.
"Kaizer, I have been looking for you."I heard Amber. I left the scene, knowing fully well what would happen next.
