"Of course, the one time we get free pizza is when your mom is treating us." Benny whined.
"You could be a little more grateful, Benny." I crossed my arms.
"The guy has two minutes and 49 seconds." Ethan shrugged.
"Pfft! Zero chance in that rust bucket." Benny started. "Which reminds me limo or jet pack?"
"What?" Ethan says.
"Excuse me?" I questioned.
"Our ride to the Fly Off to the Moon dance. You know my pick, but do you think the chicks and Rory will dig a stretch?" Benny explained.
"What chicks?" "What Rory? He hasn't asked." Ethan and I spoke in unison.
"Oh. Well, jet pack it is." benny shrugged.
"Guys, I think I'm out." Ethan shrunk a little.
"What?" I turned to the boy.
"We've gotta go." Benny stood up. "Party. Possible chicks. Jet packs."
"I don't know." Ethan shrugged. "Ever since we dug up the Cubile Animus and you and Sarah got possessed and trashed the house," Ethan looked at me, I put my hands up in defense. " I've kind of felt like laying low."
"You can lay low when you're dead." Benny tilted his head.
"Benny!" I shouted.
"What? These are the best years of our lives." He held his hands out.
"Really?" Ethan gave him a look.
"Yeah, I really hope not." Benny sat back down.
"Add another name to the Whitechapel's list of missing persons. Who is it? Stand by." The news caster spoke from the television.
"Missing persons? How about my missing pizza?" Benny complained.
"Have you no respect Benny?" I turned to my brother.
"Im calling it in." He pointed at me then grabbed his phone off the table. The rest of the night was filled with waiting and silence.
"That pizza place owes us big time." Benny complained yet again as we walked down the hallway
"Oh my gosh." I face palmed.
"Give it up." Ethan groaned.
"Oh come on guys, we were stood up. Now I have a gaping pizza-sized hole right there." My brother pointed to his heart.
"Hey guys! Hey gorgeous! You two hooked up for the Fly Off to the Moon dance?" Rory turned his attention to the boys as I hugged him. We all kept walking as Rory kept his arm around me.
"Pfft! This guys going stag. Gotta keep my options open, you know." Benny bragged.
"That or every girl he asked rejected him." I grinned.
"Ha, loser." Rory chuckled.
"Anyways," benny gritted at Rory then turned to Ethan. "You should as Sarah."
"Wha-" Ethan started.
"I did that math. You've got like, a one-in-2173 chance she'll say yes." Benny said.
"Those aren't good odds Benny." Ethan shook his head.
"I say go for it Ethan. You won't know till you try." I encouraged him. The bell then rang and Ethan and Benny waved goodbye.
"Hey I gotta ask you something." Rory dragged me over to his locker. "Ok just hold on. Close your eyes." He opened his locker and I did as told then he pulled something out. "Ok open." When I did I saw Rory holding an orchid in front of my face.
"Oh Rory it's beautiful." I beamed. I took the flower and smelt it. I waved my hand over it. "Now it'll last forever."
"W-would you- would you go to the dance with me?" He asked.
"I'd never say no." I smiled then pulled him into a hug. "But, you uh, still owe me an explanation."
"I know." He nodded.
"Uh, listen I'm supposed to meet Erica and Sarah. Ill see you later, yeah?" I grinned widely.
"Ok." he replied. I started to walk the other way.
"Im really glad you asked me." I blushed.
"I-im glad I did too." With that I walked away to meet the girls.
"I can't believe you have a date for the dance." I walked in to hear Sarah say that.
"Wait you have a date too?!" I asked excitedly.
"Yeah I do." Erica smirked.
"I thought you were done with with boys from our school?"
"Who says he's from our school? Wait did you just say 'too'?" Erica whipped her head towards me. I held out the flower.
"From Rory." I squealed.
"Oh my gosh I knew it!" Sarah jumped up.
"Im glad you said yes but what about that explanation?" Erica questioned.
'He said he's almost ready to give it to me. We have to remember this is Rory were talking about. I feel bad enough pressuring him to give me an answer." I deflated.
"Well you shouldn't. He had no right to treat you like that." Erica tilted her head at me.
"Erica's right. He should have told you what he's feeling. And what he's scared of." Sarah added.
"He's always looking for approval. Whether it be from me or Ethan and benny or his mom or even you guys. It always breaks my heart." I frowned.
"Kids gotta man up." Erica shrugged.
"Erica!" Sarah nudged the blonde.
"What it's true." She put her hands up in defense.
"Well he did ask her to the dance." Sarah defended him.
"And that date." I tried.
"That wasn't a real date." Erica said then opened her magazine.
"Wha- Erica?"
After school we all met up by Ethans locker.
"You ladies going to the dance tomorrow?" Benny questioned.
"Not with you dorks." Erica sassed. "Im off to the petting zoo, it's feeding time." She walked off but turned around. "Are pandas still endangered?"
"Yes." We all answered in unison.
"Bummer." She then walked away.
"So are you two off to some wild after school dork-a-thon?" Sarah joked.
"Heh. No. For your information we're... yeah its chess club." Ethan looked down.
"Uh, laser chess. And we gotta go before all the good lasers are taken." Benny corrected.
"You can come if you want?" Ethan invited us.
"Hard pass." I declined.
"Yeah, I'm not that desperate. Besides I have to study." Sarah also said no.
"Study for what? Vampire history?" Benny chuckled.
"Ha, ha. I missed so much class, Mr. G says ill fail the whole semester unless I pass the makeup test on Monday. Have fun at your club." Sarah and I waved.
"Im gonna go find Rory. We had some homework we had to do. Later." I said then walked off.
"Hey Rory!" I waved from down the hallway. I walked up to him. "Wanna go study at my house?"
"Ok- oh uh actually I gotta go pick up my tux but I can drive you home?" He offered.
"Sure." I grinned. He held out his arm as we walked off. When we got to my house I kissed his cheek as I got out of the car. As I started to walk away I spoke again.
"Im wearing light blue." He nodded then drove off. A few hours later, I get a call from Ethan.
"Hey Eth." I answered.
"We have a problem." He grimly said.
"Oh great." I sighed. "Hold on. Langue magice." I transported myself into Ethans room. Both boys jumped back. "What happened this time?"
"A little warning would be nice." Benny put his hand over his heart.
"Just tell me what happened." I shook my head.
"So you know how you got possessed?" Ethan asked.
"Vaguely." I bluntly responded.
"Well we dug up the Cubile Animus to put the demons should into." Ethan continued.
"As you two idiots would do yes." I tilted my head.
"So when we opened it we-" Ethan was cut off.
"We let out Jesse." Benny cut in.
"You what?!" I shouted.
"We are so dumb." Ethan ran his hands through his hair.
"We are so dead. We're gonna die." Benny stood up. "Instead of wearing my tux for the dance it'll be to my funeral. Which means we should buy instead of rent."
"Benny!" I shouted again.
"Ok, we have to find Sarah." Ethan concluded.
"Oh, great, now we're gonna die twice. First Sarah will kill us and then Jesse will." Benny cried out.
"Relax!"I nudged him.
"Get a grip!" Ethan shook Benny.
"Im too young to die!" Benny said again. Just then Ethan got a call from Sarah. He answered it then put it on speakerphone.
"Uh, Sarah, listen." Ethan starts.
"Jesse's back." They say at the same time.
"How'd you know?" Ethan asked.
"He just proposed to me." Sarah responded.
"Say what now?" I spoke.
"Jesse's weak. We have to take him out now before he gets his strength back. we'll go tomorrow night" Sarah told us.
"But thats the dance." Benny whined.
"We're coming." Ethan and I glared at him.
"He's weak?" Benny questioned.
"He can barely walk." Sarah confirmed
"Alright, lets smoke this broken down vampire." Benny agreed. "Again."
"Ok. Ill set the meeting. You guys get the gear." Sarah instructed.
"Ok, its Jesse takedown 2.0. this time we know what we're doing." Ethan smiled.
"We'll still have time to dance into the honeys' hearts." Benny smirked.
"Yeah, we did it once we can do it again." I told them.
"Good. Because Jesse wants to meet me at the school for 9." Sarah mentioned.
"Perfect. We are super psyched." Benny laughed.
