Third person POV
The sixth of July, the last day of the Grand Magic Games, is a day filled with jubilation.
"This is what we have all been waiting for folks. It has been an exciting week, there has been some incredible magic and some emotional moments you may never forget. But today one guild will be crowned number one in Fiore and the winner of the grand magic games. Ladies and gentlemen it has been an honour to spend this time with you and with my fellow commentators the esteemed Mr Yajima" Chapati Lola said.
"My pleasure," Yajima said.
"We have a very special guest with us today, you all know and love him as the official mascot of the Grand Magic Games, the always entertaining Mato" Yajima introduced.
"Heya" Mato greeted while waving to the crowds.
"Usually your in the arena acting as referee but not today" Chapati Lola said.
"No sir not today because that won't be necessary because today is extra special, the final match. Now let's get this started and bring out all the competitors" Mato beamed. An explosion of different coloured powders appeared before a four appeared.
"Currently in sixth place and looking for an upset are the hunting dogs, tail chasers, Quatro Puppy" Chapati Lola said and the males were all posing to the cheers.
"It's true the drunken wolf Baccus has been on the losing side this year but he is still a force to be reckoned with," Yajima commented. Glitter started to fall from the sky.
"Next up the guild that exudes class and an intoxicating parfum, with Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki at the helm it's Blue Pegasus" Chapati Lola said and the guild appeared posing in a spot light with clouds of pink dust around them.
"They are currently down in fifth place but today's their chance to take in the sweet smell of victory, good luck" Mato said.
A large green Naga symbol appeared in the sky giving a hint of who was next.
"Here comes our third place team, Lamia Scale. Can Lyon Vastia, the ice wizard who rivals Fairy Tail's Gray Fullbuster, bring the heat in today's battle or will his team just get frozen in their tracks?" Chapati Lola continued.
"He doesn't have to do it alone, don't forget the cute little God slayer Chelia Blendy and the wizard saint Jura Neekis are extremely powerful as well," Mato commented.
"I agree, that team could claim the title today," Yajima added.
"Lamia Scale isn't the only team in third place, they are in very good company" Chapati Lola started as water burst out of the ground and rained down on everyone.
"With Mermaid Heel" He finished.
"Beautiful ladies, don't be fooled by their sweet looks, they are definitely not delicate little flowers," Yajima said.
"They have the calm exterior of their leader Kagura Mikazuchi for some fiery intensity," Mato said.
"Let's hear it for our second place team" Chapati Lola said and the cheers were ear hurting loud.
"What a shocker to see this guild who are usually at the top spot play catch up, is this the end of an era? Their twin dragons Sting and Rogue have a major bone to pick with Natsu and Gajeel from Fairy tail after that crushing defeat on day four. Can they settle the score?" Chapati Lola questioned as the Saber's walked out. If anyone would look close enough they would see everyone but Minerva looked relaxed and like a weight had even taken off their shoulders.
"Let's give it up for the three year champs the might Sabertooth" Chapati Lola said.
"And now in first place the guild who is making a historic comeback after literally falling off the map seven years ago, let's welcome Fairy Tail" Chapati Lola yelled and the cheers got louder and louder as people waved fairy tail flags.
"Well this is it, you ready?" Rogue asked.
"Yeah, she may have helped us out but I'm still gonna beat Lucy" Sting grinned looking up at where Lector was next to Frosch as they cheered.
"They are definitely getting a different welcome from all that booing during the games welcoming ceremonies" Lyon said before looking in shock at the members.
"Wait a minute" Chapati Lola said.
"Strange" Yajima commented.
"Ahhh," Mato said. The members that had come out were Erza, Gray, Juvia, Gajeel and Laxus.
"Unbelievable Team Fairy tail is keeping us on our toes by this completely unexpected roster change. The man who single handedly defeated Sabertooths twin dragons and the Mistress of Destruction have been replaced" Chapati Lola said.
"By Juvia? And Laxus?" Lyon yelled.
"Natsu is out of the competition as well as Lucy-san," Rogue said.
"That's alright with me, in fact that's the best news I've heard all day. We can't stand up to Natsu and I. As much as I want to fight Lucy she would wipe the floor with us" Sting smiled.
"I suppose you're right," Rogue said.
"After such a strong showing in the last round this decision is a real head scratcher, what could be the reason?" Chapati Lola asked.
"Hmm, hopefully nothing bad has happened," Yajima said. The crowds were not happy with the news but at the same time they were still ecstatic to see the fights that were going to happen.
"Very smart sixth master," Mavis smiled.
"To be perfectly honest with you it was the only real choice that I had, there is a chance that winning the games would get our poor Lucy back through more official channels. However in a situation like this we must explore every option. We can't put all our eggs in one basket even if Lucy told us not to come after her. Everyone is focused on the games and we will cheer our fighters on with gusto. That is what the public will be seeing but some of our most capable mages will set out on a secret rescue mission" Makarov said.
"A two pronged strategy nicely done" Mavis complimented. Natsu, Mirajane, Wendy, Patherlilly, Carla and Happy at the moment were rushing towards the palace. But they weren't the only ones on the move either. Lucy's plans were starting to come together as she heard the clangs and yells of fighting in the hallway.
"All right guild members show us your magic, your skill and the bonds that tie you together" Chapati Lola called.
"This is it, the last round of the Grand magic games will feature a full team survival game" He announced and fireworks went off.
"Strap in pumpkins because there's a special arena for our final fight. The entire city of Crocus itself" Mato said.
"The teams have already spread throughout the battlefield and are waiting on standby" Yajima said.
"The combatants will rush through the city battling any opposing guild members they encounter. Knocking out or incapacitating an opposing wizard will net the victorious mage's guild one point on the board" Chapati Lola explained.
"First each guild must elect one member as its leader but there's a catch to this rule" Yajima said.
"None of the other guilds will know who the other team's leaders are," Mato said.
"Defeating a leader is worth five points, this means it's theoretically possible for each team to score 45 points meaning every guild has a shot at winning the title" Chapati Lola said.
"Should the teams work together or should they split up to take the Gold?" Yajima questioned.
"Strategy will be a key factor this round" Mato said.
"Listen, we have to win this just in case the rescue plan fails and Lucy's plans don't work" Erza said.
"Let's hope that Natsu and the others can get her out of there," Juvia said.
"She's not the only reason we're fighting," Gajeel said.
"Gajeel's right we are winning this for all of our friends in fairy tail" Gray said even though most of Fairy tail knew that Erza, Gray and Laxus were fighting for Lucy.
"It's the very least we can do to thank them after seven years of heartache they deserve nothing short of victory" Laxus smirked.
"Who will stand at the pinnacle of the magic world? We're about to find out, let's rumble" Chapati Lola yelled. With that the Grand Magic Games started, most of the teams split up into groups or singles all except for one team. Fairy Tail was standing together, their eyes closed in concentration.
Lucy's POV
Hearing a lot of clanks I smiled as I got up and walked to the bars.
"Lucy what was that noise?" Yukino asked.
"One of my plans is starting to work, I'm not about to sit here while the world is in danger from a Princess that thinks looking into the future is a good idea" I said as I started to flick the cell bars hard enough to make a chiming noise. It didn't take long until he appeared.
"Took you long enough, Dorenbolt" I said.
"Sorry about that but it took Lahar longer than he thought to find where they put you" Dorenbolt shrugged.
"And my keys?" I asked.
"Already taken to a safe place which we will be heading to now" Dorenbolt said.
"What about Lahar?" I asked.
"He went to stop some troublemakers from breaking into the castle. Cobra, Midnight, Angel, Racer and Richard have the knights' attention while Jellal, Meredy and Ultear and making sure that the Princess won't get in our way while also finding your future self and Arcadios" Dorenbolt explained.
"So far so good but we should still be careful, nothing continues to go this good for long" I said as Dorenbolt finished opening the cell door.
"What do you mean? The Princess is trying to save us by going back in the past to stop Zeref. She also is going to use the hate against the dragons that will attack" Yukino said.
"The gate isn't a weapon, it is nothing but a portal through time. As soon as those two doors open dragons will come out of it and it will be too late. The only thing we can do is stop her from being foolish and opening the gate" I huffed as I walked out of the cell.
"Are you coming or not?" I asked Yukino, who was looking shocked.
"I...I...Are you sure it is only a gate through time?" Yukino whispered.
"Yes," I answered.
"If we explained to Princess Hisui-" Yukino started.
"She wouldn't listen because she is set in her beliefs, we also don't have that time. Are you forgetting that they locked us up here even when we had nothing to do with the eclipse project... Well I didn't have anything to do with it" I corrected.
".....Okay I'll go with you" Yukino said and I nodded.
"Let's go then, I hope your ready for this Doranbolt" I said.
"Lahar and I have been ready ever since we spoke to your future self, we are part of the Rune Knights for the magic council so we shouldn't be breaking the rules but it's better than the world ending. Hold on tight" He said as we each grabbed one of his arms.
It took mere seconds for Doranbolt to teleport us away from the cells that we had been held in to a rather empty apartment.
"We use this place as a crash house if we either leave work too late or are working in this area and don't own a house here. No one will be here for today so we are fine, here are your keys. Your lucky you sent me to get them since the floor was booby trapped to give out from underneath" Dorenbolt said as he handed me my keys and Yukino hers. I let out a sigh of relief and gently stroked the keys feeling them give off warmth and hummed in what I could only guess was happiness.
"Loke, is everything okay?" I enquired as the lion spirit appeared, his hair shadowing his eyes.
"I wish it was Princess. We tried our hardest and we didn't let anyone open our keys but to use them on the gate we don't need to be summoned" Loke explained and my eyes widened.
"Who did they get to do it? They needed a Celestial mage" I said as I narrowed my eyes. This wasn't all that bad yet, we could still fix this.
"It's that so called Princess, she is a Celestial mage herself" Loke growled and I closed my eyes pinching the bridge of my nose. Of course she had to be a Celestial mage so now all she had to do was open the gates, they were already unlocked.
"Damn we weren't planning on them having been opened" Dorenbolt said.
"Don't worry even if the dragons come through. I have a plan for now. We should wait for the others as well as Natsu and whoever goes with them. How are you holding up Loke?" I asked and he hugged me.
"We are all fine for now but in a few months not so much" Loke said as he buried his head in my shoulder.
"In that case I'm going to purify you guys first then see the old Stach face. It will probably use up most of our time but I don't have a choice, you guys are my first priority" I decided.
"What do you mean to cleanse them?" Yukino asked.
"I'll explain while I do it, I'm going to need your keys. Doranbolt I need you tk stand guard. Loke," I said but was cut off when Loke gently kissed me.
"I'll go back to the celestial world, tell the King and calm the others down" Loke said before kissing me once more, pulling back, winking and then disappearing back to the celestial world. This had started to complicate themselves and I wasn't sure what else would go pear shapes but there was one thing that I did know. I wasn't going to let anyone innocent suffer nor was I going to let my friends risk their lives against dragons without some serious backup.
