Gonna be honest.... when i first read the books i hardcore shipped boragorn. y??? bc its 1) enemies to lover 2) isildur's heir and prince (basically) of gondor so its just the LOTR version of RWRB and 3) bc of boromir's death scene
buttttt i've had some time to think it over and now i have theories, headcannons, potential multships (??) and a justification for why ultimately aralas is in fact superior to this ship
...obviously.
okay so this is the bottom line of my theory: Aragorn never loved Boromir, BUT Boromir DID love Aragorn.
AND I HAVE PROOF

BECAUSE of course we have this ultimate question: did boromir and aragorn have chemistry in the fotr movie?
and as an aralas shipper you probably expect me to say nooooo he only had chemistry with legolas, theyre perfect for each other blah blah blah
AND WHILE ARALAS IS THE PERFECT SHIP AND I WILL DEFEND IT TO THE END OF MY DAYS

But do i still ship ironstrange???? absolutely. same thing with aralas and boragorn - i will stan aralas to the end of my days, but do I still take a noisy sip of figurative tea out of my "bros being dudes" mug during that one scene in lothlorien in fotr where boromir says mY fAtHeR wAs a nObLe mAn to aragorn and theyre staring into each others eyes very unstraightly???

or boromir's death scene: "i will follow you, my brother my captain my king", are you freaking joking me?????? sirs?????

another one is when (in the books, this was only referenced in the movies) they're clearing out the snow blocking their path in the misty mountains and aragorn and boromir have this very very strong like ✨M E N✨ dynamic where they kinda lean toward each other in any sitaution
obviously we dont even half to talk abt the most obvious one: the "he is no mere ranger!" "so this is isildur's heir" "hadho baad, legolas" scene where the tension is just ROLLING off the screen
EVEN THO I SHIP ARALAS I CANNOT TELL YOU THAT THEY DIDNT HAVE SOMETHING IN THESE MOMENTS

HOWEVER i do have a headcannon just like i do for gigolas, gimli x legolas, which i talked abt in one of my aralas chapters that makes everything with aralas and boragorn make sense
aaaaaaand this brings me back to my original pointtttttt: boromir was 100% in love with aragorn but aragorn didnt love him back bc a certain blondie with daddy issues exists

AND IF HE WASNT IN LOVE WITH HIM HE HAD SOME SHIT GOING ON FOR HIM OKAY IN MY MIND ITS CANON
and bc of this tension between them in fotr (bc obviously aragorn isnt an IDIOT like he KNOWS boromir likes him but like??? what can he do he has legolas) i feel like their interactions would go something like this:
"It is so easy for them..." Boromir murmurs, staring contemplatively at Frodo and Sam. The two are huddled next to each other, cloaks wrapped tight around their shoulders for warmth, the last embers of the fire smoldering at their feet. Sam runs his finger's through Frodo's hair, whispering something the others cannot hear, and both of them smile softly despite the cold.
"They are in love," Aragorn answers simply. "It is natural." Boromir turns to him.
"And what of you and the elf?" he asks. "Do you love him?"
Aragorn does not answer, and Boromir bristles at the pause in the conversation. He turns away once more, settling the firewood more comfortably in his arms.
"Forgive me, it was not my place to ask-"
"No, it is alright," Aragorn amends, catching him by the arm before he can walk away. He smiles slightly, gaze falling to the Earth. "Yes. I do love him."
When he looks up, Boromir gives him a signature roguish grin, but there is sadness in his eyes. He steps towards Aragorn and claps him firmly on the shoulder, as brothers would. The firewood leans on his free arm.
"I am happy for you," he says, then nods his head at the two hobbits. "And for them as well."
Aragorn watches him walk back in the direction of the camp with a steady gaze that he is certain Boromir can feel on his back.
"I would have you find happiness also, my friend," he mutters almost inaudibly to himself. He turns his gaze to the rocky ledge below which they are camped, and upon which Legolas now stands. Undoubtedly he has heard the conversation in full, with his elven-ears.
"But I cannot give you what you seek."
Yeah. something like that.

yes contrary to popular belief i am in fact an actual writer (IK IK - SHOCKING) and i wrote that a while ago on a whim except instead of frodo and sam it was two of my ocs, but this isnt an OC rants book (although.....) and i wasnt gonna do a whole thing explaining that so y'all get frodo and sam instead

this is a ship where the characters PHYSICALLY LOOK GOOD AT EACH OTHERS SIDES AND AS A COUPLE but had absolutely no interaction in the books or movies whatsoever at all

another great example of this is winteriron, in the marvel fandom. tony x bucky, im sure yall know it. PURELY BASED ON VIBES. PURELY BC THEY LOOK GOOD TOGETHER. they have LITERALLY NO interactions ever in the whole ass mcu. ITS THE SAME THING WITH MF BORALAS.
and dont try to deny (IVE SEEN PPL DO THIS ON AO3 FICS OF THEM YALL) being like "oh boromir would've fallen in love with legolas bc hEs aN eLf and hes like rLY pReTtY and boromir would've been iNtRigUeD bY hIm" ABSOLUTELY NOT.
with that reasoning, literally EVERYONE, MF GOLLUM can be shipped with legolas.

you'd end up with 4352, 4253, 4235, 4532, 4523 and so on and so forth
except in this case it isn't 4325, its legolas, boromir, aragorn and faramir
