“Adam, Jenny, Time for school,” called a woman from the bottom of the stairs,
“OK mum,” groaned Adam from his bedroom,
“Jenny, that means you as well” their mother, Mrs Price called, but by the time Jenny walked out of her room and headed for the bathroom, Adam had got dressed, eaten his breakfast and was now sitting at the table working on his computer,
“hurry up Jen we're going to be late again” he shouted as Jenny came out of the bathroom and walked down the stairs,
“Oh shut up we've got ages yet” she protested, pouring milk into her breakfast bowl,
“Well by the time you've finished pruning yourself we'll be late,” Adam snapped,
“Now you two best behave yourselves,” their mother said as she walked into the kitchen dressed in her work clothes, she had her golden brown hair thrown into a bun, with a few strands dangling down her face, “I will be home late tonight, I'm working a double shift, so make sure you do your homework and there's microwave meals in the freezer so there is no need to order take away. Please behave yourselves” she pleaded and kissed them both on the head, “I'm going to be late, love you” she called as she grabbed her keys and headed for the door,
“Bye mum” Jenny and Adam called to her as she left the house.
“Come on Jenny, if we're late again...” Adam moaned half an hour later,
“Oh relax will you, I'm almost ready” she answered as she continued to brush her hair and Adam paced up and down holding his bag and laptop, every couple of strides he gazed at the clock on the kitchen wall, 7.15 they had five minuets to get to school. “How long does it take you to brush your hair?” Adam complained,
“I'm almost ready,” Jenny shouted running into her bedroom,
“What are you doing?” Adam yelled getting annoyed with her,
“Getting my jacket” she called back and walked out of the room still searching for it,
“Jenny, come on” Adam screamed, getting more and more angry at her.
After a few minuets she had searched in her room, the living room and was now looking in the kitchen, opening each cupboard, “Yeah, the cupboard is a great place to look for a jacket, it's right up there with checking the washing” Adam said sarcastically, Jenny stopped as her face went red with embarrassment.
“Please tell me you've checked the washing,” he pleaded as she walked to the wash basket,
“Oops” she said innocently as she held up her jacket,
“I can't believe you've been searching for ages just because your being stupid, we're not at school, you don't have to act blond yet” Adam snapped,
“Well acting stupid is better than being stupid like you” Jenny sneered back at him as she put on her jacket,
“I'm not stupid”
“yeah, that's why you have extra help at school” she said spitefully,
“Well at least I try at school, you act stupid so you can be popular,” but Jenny didn't respond she was too busy looking at the light's in the kitchen, they were flashing on and off, “And you know full well why I have those lessons,” Jenny spun around to see the television, it had turned on and was flicking through the channels. “I don't understand words like I do computers” Adam continued, clenching his fists and squeezing his eyes closed to control his rage,
“Adam, Adam calm down!” Jenny shouted and grabbed hold of him, trying to get his attention. “Please Adam, you have to calm down” she looked around at the room, now everything was flashing on and off, and you could tell from her voice that Jenny was getting scared, “Adam!” she screamed as the CD player sent sparks and the curtain caught on fire, Jenny quickly ran into the kitchen turned on the tap and filling a glass with water, she poured the water onto the curtains and distinguished the fire, but she suddenly jumped back when the CD player exploded beside her.
“ADAM! Please, stop it!” she cried tears in her eyes.
Suddenly Adam snapped his eyes open and looked at the damage he had caused, everything slowly stopped flashing and Jenny ran to him throwing her arms around his neck,
“I'm so sorry Adam” she cried as he hugged her back. They both looked around the room in amazement, “did I do that?” he asked looking at the pieces of what was the CD player, “what happened to the curtains?” he asked when he saw that they had a burn whole in them.
“They caught on fire, I was so scared, don't ever do th-” Jenny started, “Oh no!” she screamed and ran into the kitchen to see the sink over flowing with water. In her rush to put out the fire she forgot to turn off the tap, she quickly ran over to it and tried to turn it off but it was stuck. “Oh no, please, please stop, stop” she cried as she continued trying to turn the tap.
Adam ran over quickly to help his sister, “it's not working” he exclaimed, then the tap snapped and a spray of water went flying at Jenny, she screamed and shielded herself with her hands waiting for the water of hit her... but it didn't... she slowly moved her hands to find that the spray of water was suspending in the air above her, frozen like an ice pop, “did I do that?” she asked looking at Adam who stared at the frozen water above her,
“Well I don't think it was me,” he said as he reached up and touched it, they both looked at each other in amazement. What was happening to them?
Kelly woke with a start she must have fallen asleep because when she looked at the clock she saw that she was late for school, she quickly got changed and reached for her school books then suddenly the night's events came flooding back to her when she saw the book.
Jenny and Adam didn't get to school until the second lesson, but when Jenny walked into her maths class she was met by Rachel,
“Jenny, You will never guess what happened this morning “ she exclaimed as she dragged her to the desk that Kelly was sitting at,
“Wanna bet” she quietly added recalling the mornings events, then sat in between Rachel and Kelly,
“Well you know the Pit's” Rachel started as she leaned in towards Jenny and Kelly as if she was about to tell a big secret,
“Yes, the waste lands they call a field” Jenny added with a small giggle,
“Well, I walk past there every morning on the way to school,” Rachel continued “Well this morning I walked past as usual, but as I walked something really strange happened,” she explained and moved her red hair out of her eyes then continued with her story, “When I turned around instead of looking at mud there was grass and where that big tire was, there was an oak tree and I swear none of it was there before I walked past.... I think I did it and I know it sounds weird but when I was walking past I was imagining that there was grass and a big oak tree and then I turned around and it was just how I imagined.” Rachel explained with a worried look on her face, “I know it sound crazy, but you have to believe me, you do don't you?” she asked hoping her friends didn't think that she was 'loosing the plot'.
“Well it does sound quite... well are you sure, I mean your eyes could have played tricks on you,” Kelly explained quite confused about the matter,
“I know what I saw, you have to believe me” Rachel protested,
“I believe you Rachel.” Jenny said quietly “because something like that happened to me and Adam this morning,” she explained, feeling like a big weight had been lifted off her shoulders,
“Really? How weird, has anything happened to you this morning Kel?” Rachel asked,
“No, not this morning, but last night there was – no it's stupid doesn't matter.” Kelly answered slightly embarrassed.
“Tell us Kelly, what happened?” asked Jenny,
“It was nothing really guys,” Kelly protested wishing she hadn't said anything.
“well there is no harm in you telling us then is there?” Rachel said persuasively as Miss Penny walked into the room,
“well it isn't that big of a deal, but last night when I got home, I emptied my school bag and found-”
“Kelly Jones! Class has started and you are still chatting, I have half a mind to put you in detention again,” Miss Penny interrupted.
“ahh” the class teased,
“Sorry Miss” Kelly solemnly replied and didn't say another word all lesson, but nodded her head when Rachel quietly suggested that they would meet in the library at break to talk about it.

Ok so what do you think? This chapter was mainly about Jenny and Adam. I just love both of them, their relationship with each other is so fun to write.
Adam made a CD player to blow up!! lol What do you think about Jenny and Adam's mum?
