"Nah," Dana answered, "that's not really my style."
I sighed. He rubbed his eyes.
"How about 'Die In My Arms' by Justin Bieber?" He asked, excitedly.
"I do not sing Justin Bieber."
"I know! How about 'Classic' by MKTO?"
"Yes!"
"Bless the Lord! We found our song!"
We high-fived and hugged.
"Okay," he said, "let's get to work."

Two girls were currently on stage. They were doing okay. They were singing 'Sledgehammer' by Fifth Harmony.
One was clearly better. The judges were writing down stuff. My head was reeling.
They finished and pranced off the stage.
Dana gave me a wink from across the wings, then we both made our way to center stage.
"Dana, Marley, what are you singing?"
"Classic by MKTO." I answered.
"Ooh, girl you shining!

And the don't make you like they used to, you're never going out of style!" Started Dana while looking at me.

The judges were writing endless notes and Austin stood up and cheered. I smiled, that must be good. I ran backstage.
There, I hugged Dana.

"It was amazing, Mom!" I exclaimed to my computer while chatting over FaceTime with my family.
"It sounds like you're really having fun, sweetheart."
"I am," I answered, "I'm having the time of my life!"
Suddenly, there was a knock on my door.
"Gotta go, love you!" I exclaimed.
"Love you too, Marley, have fun!"
I smiled and finished the chat.
"Coming!" I chimed while running towards the door.
Once I opened it, I saw Dana.
"Oh, hey!" I said, "what are you doing here?"
"I checked and saw we have the same class schedules. Figured I'd walk you there."
"Yeah, let me get my bag." I said with a smile.
I closed my room door and we made our way to class.

Chemistry seemed to last forever. I almost fell asleep twice.
I was doodling on the back of my notebook when I felt someone tap my shoulder twice. I turned to find a brown eyed and haired kid.
"Do you have a pencil?" He asked eagerly.
"Let me check." I said while leaning to my bag and scavenging for a pencil. I find one and hand it to him.
"Thanks. I'm Cole, by the way."
"Marley." I said with a smile.
"You sang with Dana, right? I heard you were amazing!"
"Thanks," I said while blushing.
"Ryan!" Suddenly screamed our Chemistry teacher, making me jump.
"Yes, Mr. Tyler?"
"If you're gonna be talking in my class, then you're gonna make up for it in detention."
"Technically, you can't keep us in detention, we have rehearsal. It's part of the show's rules. And besides, I wasn't talking."
"Watch it, Ryan. I got my eye on you."
"Real mature," I whispered to myself.
Class ended with a bell chime. I grabbed my bag and left the room.
"Marley, wait up!"
I turned to see Cole screaming.
"What's up?"
"Come with me. I wanna introduce you to some guys. They're dying to meet you."
"What? Meet me?"
"Yeah, your audition was the best. Everyone's talking about you."
"Oh, lord."
"Relax," he said while taking me by the hand, "they'll love you."
