After attempting to kill time by giving the social worker a tour of the house. We were now traveling down the corridor that goes to the front entrance where we started

"Very spacious," she observed as she proceeded along the corridor and examined the picture frames on the walls.

As I watched her enjoy the photos on the wall, I answered hesitantly, "Yep."

"So, where is he?" She remarked this as she looked away from the photo of Jahseh and Jenesis she was looking at.

where's who?

"Excuse me?" I remarked, my face puzzled.

"Where's the baby?" She was perplexed as well.

"Oh yeah right, right the baby," I remarked as I began approaching Gekyume, who was in the play pin flinging his hands in the air.

As I took Gekyume and placed him on my chest, I remarked, "There you go."

Gekyume turned back and waved to the lady, who reciprocated with a smile.

"How adorable!" She continued to make amusing expressions at Gekyume as she spoke. I made every effort not to bust out laughing in front of her.

"I'm Solána, Gekyume's'mother,' er, guardian... sure," Solana said, smiling and shaking the social worker's hand. with her hair, drawing my and Aileen's attention.

"Hello, my name is Aileen, and I'm just checking in and asking some questions," Aileen explained.

"May we?" Looking at both Solána and myself, Aileen said.

"May we what?" Solana laughed a little and then looked at Aileen and then at me, puzzled.

"Take a seat somewhere?" Aileen expressed her confusion as well.

poor girl

"That's right. Over here, um "Solana said as she approached the dining table.

I mentally cursed myself as we headed to the dining table and found the bottle of wine remaining on the table. I needed to find a way to divert the social worker's attention.

hopefully she didn't notice it earlier,

"Aileen," I began. "Has anyone ever told you how gorgeous your eyes are?" I remarked, drawing Aileen's attention back to me as I was walking behind her. Then eventually I moved in front of her and walked back towards the dining table, periodically looking at the table as I reached for the wine bottle,

"Stokeley, wow. Thank you, "Giggling, Aileen put some hair behind her ear and blushed. I took the wine bottle and slid it behind my back while holding gekyume with my other hand.

I returned to the dining table after putting the wine bottle in the sink and placed Gekyume in Solana's arms.

As I moved past Aileen and pulled out a chair for her to sit in, I said, "Here, let me help you with that."

"Thank you," Aileen replied as she took a seat in the chair after I pushed her in. I sat right beside Solana who still held Gekyume in her arms.

"Alright let's get started," Aileen said, placing the clipboard on the table and her hands flat on the table.

"How are you guys doing? Do you guys change your mind about not being guardians of Gekyume?" Aileen started off.

Solana began by stating, "Uhm wow." "Well, I don't believe so b-" Solana began to speak before I abruptly cut her short. "We both want to be the parents of Gekyume," I stated emphasizing the word "both" as I looked at Solana, who remained silent.

Solana remained silent the rest of the night after that inquiry. Aileen gazed at me every time she asked a question, waiting for an answer.

-

"Alright, thank you for having me," Aileen said to both Solana and me, "additional social service workers will be stopping by at strange times in the future, just a hint for the future, don't close the door on them," she joked, while Solana glanced at me with a horrified expression.

"Alright, thank you, Aileen," I murmured as I carefully closed the door behind her and turned to say something to Solana before she beat me to it.

"You slammed the door in her face?!" She said before I could even speak.

"Don't be mad at me; at the very least, I wasn't drunk; I was just making sure you didn't get caught," I added, raising my voice somewhat.

"Are you serious?" Solana said it with a sneer. "Yeah, you got drunk while I was looking after Gekyume. I'm starting to think I'm the only one that wants Gekyume." I shouted this while pointing toward Solana and yelling obscenities.

"YOU ACT LIKE YOU ONLY TAKE CARE OF HIM! PLEASE "Solana exclaimed while laughing. "You've watched him once! Okay. ONCE! How many times did you go to the studio to get high or go out to sleep with other girls while I was watching him? Because I messed up once, don't act like you're the big guy." Solana reprimanded me before walking upstairs with Gekyume in her arms.

"You were the one who initially stated that you didn't want to look after Gekyume." As she stood at the top of the stairs, looking at me, she murmured making me feel guilty. I stood there watching as she walked into her room and shut the door.

My head sank and I mentally cursed myself out, before heading upstairs and lightly opening Gekyumes bedroom door,

"I'm sorry, Gek, that your parents were taken away from you; I'm sorry we can't be the parents you desire or require. I promise you'll be raised by someone wonderful, but I don't think it will be me or Stokeley." As she changed his clothes, Solana lifted him up and kissed his forehead before placing him in his bed. "Goodnight."

She turned around and breathed loudly through her nose, before turning out the lights and bumping my shoulder as she left the room. I looked at Gekyume as he yawned and started closing his eyes, before walking out

"So you really don't think we could be the parents to Gekyume?" I said as I followed Solana who was walking downstairs again.

"No Stokeley, you said it yourself, were not made to be his parents." She said as she made her way towards the dining room and started wiping the table down.

"That was before everything was okay, I was in a depressive state of mind where I couldn't even take care of myself, that was when I was scared to take care of a child, it was new to me, I went from being happy and making music with my best friend to losing my best friend and having to take care of his baby, I wasn't ready," I said as I leaned against the table, trying to get Solana's attention.

"And you think I was?!" Solana lightly raised her voice as she turned away from the table to confront me."We were both weren't ready Stokeley; the only difference is that you fled while I stayed," Solana stated as she lowered her voice again and walked back into the kitchen

"Okay and I'm ready now, I'm ready to raise Gek, I wanna do it now. I'm ready to be his parent." I said getting in front of Solana so she didn't ignore me. She just stared at me for a few moments as tears welled up in her eyes, before dropping her head to look at her feet.

I sighed and drew her into my arms, clutching her tightly as she sobbed quietly on my shoulder. I gently stroked her back with one arm while wrapping the other around her head. She returned the hug, her arms around my waist. That's how we stayed for a while.
