You were reading in the garden when Loki found you. You were so focused on the story you didn't hear him come up behind you. A gentle hand was placed on your head and you jumped. "Sorry little one." He laughs as he sits in the grass next to you. "It's ok. How was your trip?" "Fine but I have to go back." He sighs as he props his head up with his hand. You sigh and shrink into yourself. You missed Loki dearly when he would go on trips to Midgard. You always asked if you could come along but he would say it's too dangerous. "How long will you be gone this time?" You ask shyly knowing whatever answer you get will hurt. "Only a few days." "Oh." "Hey don't be sad my love. I have a surprise to make up for me being gone all the time." You couldn't help but smile. Loki always gives the best surprises. "You my darling wife get to come with me this time. I arranged it with Thor and the other avengers and everything is good to go. Surprise." You practically attack him with hugs and kisses. "Thank you Loki. I've always wanted to go there. I love you." You squeal as he rolls around with you on the grass. "You're welcome little one but we are leaving in the morning so run off and get packed."
"Just hold on tight and you'll be fine." He says as you and him step into the bifrost beam. You grab on to him like life depended on it. You didn't like the seemingly endless feeling of falling. "(Y/N) open your eyes. We're here." He coos as you notice you're on solid ground. The Midgardian sun was harsh on your eyes at first but with a few blinks everything came into focus. You looked up at a large white building with a huge A on the side. "Welcome dear sister to Midgard and the Avengers compound." Thor booms as he walks towards you and Loki. You sprint to the thunderers open arms and jump in them. Thor hugs you tight before placing you back on the ground. "Come in and meet the team." That's when your smile changed. You always get nervous when meeting new people. You're a very quiet and shy person all around. Loki noticed the change and placed a hand on the small of your back. "They are nice. It will be ok I promise." He whispers with a gentle kiss to your temple. "Just wait here and I'll let them know you guys have arrived." Thor says gesturing to an area with couches then leaving. You sit and Loki follows. "What if I say something wrong or they don't like me?" You ask as you fidget with your emerald necklace Loki gave you when you first started dating. "Oh sweetheart I'm sure they will love you. And they know you're Asgardian so they are used to the way we speak because of Thor. Just relax my love." He says pulling your hands away from the necklace to be held in his.
Thor returns with the rest of the team and Loki introduces you. "Hello everyone this is my wife (Y/N)." You smile and give a small wave. "Thank you for allowing me to come. I've always wanted to visit Midgard and meet its people." One by one you learn their names and what they do as avengers. "How about you two rest then we'll go out for dinner." A man you now know as Tony Stark says while the others nod. "Sounds good. Let's go to our room dear." Loki says standing up and offering a hand. Once you're down the hall the team all look at Thor. "So let me get this straight. She's his wife?" Tony asks with an arched brow. "Yes she is. I know it may seem they are an odd match but she does him good. Keeps him grounded. He really cleaned up his act after they got married. He doesn't want to disappoint her. A fair warning though, she's very shy, somewhat skittish and how you say, daydreams a lot. Don't be surprised if you have to get her to refocus sometimes." Thor laughs leaning back in his chair. The team nods and disperse till dinner.
"And here is where we will be staying. This is my room when I come here. It's nothing fancy like back hope but it gets the job done." Loki says as he opens the door. You walk in the large room and feel very comfortable. Sure it's not home but knowing it's Loki's gives you a sense of calm. "It will do just fine. Oh what's this?" You ask pointing to an electronic display mounted on the wall. "Oh one of Tony's gadgets. It controls everything in the room. Lights, heat, even the shower water." You marvel at the device and push a button that says lights. That takes you to a different screen where you can change the brightness and even the color. You laugh when you change it to green. You try out all the different color options before Loki intervenes. "How about you test the bed and give the lights a rest. They aren't used to being changed so quickly." He laughs guiding you away from the gadget. You slip off your shoes and lie down in the bed. It's very plush and cozy just like the one back home. "Like it?" You hum in the affirmative as you stretch out. Loki cuddles close to you and gives you a kiss. "Just rest for now. I can tell you're tired from the bifrost. Got a few hours till it's time for dinner, that should allow you to have a nice nap." "Will you nap too?" You ask not really wanting him to leave you alone in bed. "Yes for a little bit. Then I'll probably go see what restaurant Stark picked out for tonight. I won't leave till I know you're asleep though. Would you like to change?" You nod and in a flash you're in comfy lounge clothes so you don't mess up your dress by sleeping in it. "Thank you." "Not a problem my love. Have a nice nap. Love you." "Love you more." You say through a yawn.
Loki shakes you gently to wake you. "Little one it's time to get up." "Dinner time?" You ask as you rub your eyes. "Mmhm dinner time." You change and follow Loki to the garage. He opens the door if a black sports car. You look at him and it with an arched brow. "What is this?" "My car I use while I'm here." Is it safe? Are there no horses?" "Oh my sweet love. Midgardians don't really use horses. They used to but someone invented transportation that doesn't need a horse. I assure you it's safe." With his reassurance you get into the car and he follows. He shows you how to fasten your seatbelt then makes his way out to the road. This new experience makes you nervous and you fidget with your necklace again. "What's wrong darling?" "I don't like how close the other cars get. It's like they will hit us." "No one will hit us. I have a protective spell on. We will be fine." He says taking a hand from your necklace and bringing it to his lips. You instantly relax and start to enjoy the ride.
"Sorry we are late. This little lady just had her first car ride." Loki says pulling out your chair at the table. "How did you like it?" Steve asks as Loki takes his seat next to you. "It's definitely not a horse but it was fun." "Bucky and I remember when people first started buying cars. Right buck?" "Yeah we were pretty young though. Tony's dad, Howard Stark, was going to invent a flying car in the 40s. And we are still waiting on it." Bucky teases as Tony rolls his eyes. As you wait for your meals you look at the artwork that's hung around your table. You're really focusing on one piece when you feel your hand being squeezed gently. You're quickly brought back to reality as the others lightly chuckle. "I did it again huh?" Loki just smiles and nods. "I'm sorry." "You're fine darling. Natasha just had a question for you." You look over to her and give her your undivided attention. "Was just wondering how you and Loki met." She says before taking a sip of wine. "Oh in the village back home. My mother was a dressmaker. She made dresses for the queen and other ladies of court. I would help her when needed. One day the youngest prince came by the pick up his mothers dress that needed mending." "And the rest is history." Loki hums as he puts his arm around you and pulls you closer. "Was this before or after you destroyed half of New York?" Tony laughs. The others laugh too but you're confused on why. You know it was a bad thing he did, he was imprisoned for it, but why is it a joke now. "Ah let's not bring up the mistakes of others. I believe you are the cause of that whole Ultron business." Loki sneers back. "But back to the question. It's both. We were married after my time in prison. I was told if I didn't change my ways I'd never see (Y/N) again. That was one thing I couldn't lose. I made a promise to never disappoint her again and I think I'm doing a good job keeping that promise. Right my love?" "Yes a very good job."
On the way back to the compound you were still trying to understand why Loki's mistake was funny. He could tell something was on your mind but didn't want to pry into your private thoughts. "What's on your mind darling?" "Why did everyone laugh when Tony talked about when you destroyed the city? I don't understand why it was funny. It was a bad thing." "Yes it was a bad thing and a bit awkward too. I was bad but I've changed and now a good guy. Midgardians use jokes like that to make a weird situation easier to handle. Tony make the joke about me then I used it against him with his own wrong doings. See on Midgard not everything is good or bad. There are times good people do bad things. And bad people do good. The whole team have gray areas. So the joke wasn't making light of what I've done, just trying to make the subject a little easier to talk about. Does that make sense?" "I think so. Who knew Midgardians are so complicated." "Yes complicated creatures indeed." Loki laughs as he gently pats your thigh.
"Wake up little one. Come on wake up. I've got a day full of Midgardian things for us to do." Loki hums as he leaves kisses on your face. You slowly open your eyes to see his big blue ones. "Ah there she is. My beautiful wife. How did you sleep?" "Fine. You?" You yawn as you stretch under the blankets. "Best sleep I've had here. I can only guess that was because you are here. Now let's get you up and ready. Got lots to do and see." "What about breakfast?" On Asgard it was very uncommon to skip breakfast. It was something people did before even getting dressed for the day. "We will be having something called brunch. It's a mix of breakfast and lunch food. It's served later than breakfast but earlier than lunch. Roughly around 10am. But if you're super hungry now I can get you some fruit or something?" "That sounds fun. I think my morning tea can hold me over till this brunch." You say as you make your way to the bathroom. Once dressed you ride in Loki's car again, able to enjoy it more now that you are used to it. First stop on Loki's list of things to show you is something a little familiar. He helps you out of the car and you walk up a grassy hill still wet with morning dew. "Darling where are you taking me? My dress is getting wet." "Someplace that I'll know you'll like. It will remind you of home." He says as you just reach the top of the hill. You look out over a large market place that's already bustling with people. "This is called a farmers market. Farmers bring their crop to sell as well as other artisans. Remember that wooden ring I got you that has your name carved into it? I got it here." "Oh I loved that ring, well before I lost it while helping mother." You sigh as you reminisce. "Maybe the craftsman is here again and I can get you a new one." You and Loki make your way through the marketplace looking at all that was offered. It really was just like the village market back home. You were amazed by how something like this could be so similar. The ring seller wasn't there but you did get a beautiful landscape painting to take back to Asgard.
You have brunch in this small restaurant that's full of people. "I guess from the amount of people this brunch thing is popular?" You ask as you look at the menu. "Yep especially on the weekends. Very popular with young adults to meet up with friends." A server is walking by with yellow drinks that looked good. "What are those?" "Oh those are mimosas. Orange juice and champagne I think. You want some? They are bottomless here." Your eyes grow wide at the word bottomless and you nod. Once your orders are taken it's not long for your mimosas to arrive. You take a sip and are delightfully surprised. The flavors complement each other so nicely. "I will be making these for my friends back home." You hum as you take another sip. "Want to head to the car while I pay?" Loki asks after your meal. You nod and leave the little restaurant. You are walking for some time but haven't seen his car yet. You were sure you went the right way so you keep walking. You end up in a large park and that's when you knew you may have taken a wrong turn somewhere.
Loki comes to the car and sees you're not there. He immediately panics. "(Y/N)! (Y/N) where are you? Little one!" He calls out on his way back to the restaurant. Maybe you came back because you forgot something and he didn't notice you passing him. "Excuse me. Hello, yes did the woman I was with happen to come back in here?" He asks the server you both had. Unfortunately the server shakes their head no. "Oh gods." Loki gasps as he rushes back out to the sidewalk. "Darling where have you gone?" He asks himself as he speeds back to the compound. The team was already lounging on the couches when he came bursting in. "We got a situation! (Y/N) is missing! We went to brunch and I told her to go to the car while I payed but she wasn't there when I came out." He says excitedly trying to get all the information out quickly. Thor helps him sit down as Tony pulls up a hologram map of the city. "Alright I want everyone to take an area to search. Loki you should probably stay here just in case she finds her way back here." "No I'm coming with you. She's probably scared and... oh gods what if she was taken?" He says frantically as he fists his hair. "Loki you need to take a deep breath. Here drink this." Thor says hand him a glass of whiskey. "Can't you track her with a spell?" Clint asks being that he's experienced Loki's magic first hand. "No I'm not a bloodhound." He snaps but quickly apologizes. The tears are threatening to spill out over his cheeks but he wipes them away. "Don't worry Loki we'll find her. We're the Avengers." Bucky says as he gives him a gentle pat on the back. With a nod the team gear up and start their search.
Meanwhile you find a bench near a fountain. You've been told ever since you were a child, if you're lost just find somewhere to sit and someone will be able to find you easier. You sit and watch the people come and go. You don't know how much time has passed because time on Midgard is different. You bring your knees up and tuck them under your chin. You start to cry thinking Loki will never be able to find you. "Miss why are you crying?" A small voice asks next to you. You look up to find a small boy no more then 10 sitting next to you on the bench. "I seem to have got myself lost. I don't know where I am or how to get back." "Oh you're in Central Park. Where are you from?" He asks handing you some tissues from his backpack. "Asgard. You?" "Oh really? Like Thor the avenger?" You couldn't help but laugh at his excitement. "Yes like Thor. I'm married to his brother, Loki." "So you're a princess?!?" He gasps as his eyes grow wide. "Yes. How did you know that?" "Well I did a report for school on Thor and learned that he is a prince. And that makes Loki who is a good guy now a prince. So if you're married to Loki that makes you a princess. That's how it works in Disney movies. If a girl marries a prince she becomes a princess. Simple." He shrugs causing you to laugh again. "What is your name?" "David. Yours, your highness?" "Nice to meet you David. I'm (Y/N). You don't need to call me your highness. (Y/N) is just fine." "Would you like me to sit with you till you're found?" "Oh you don't have to. Your parents will probably wonder where you are." "I'm sure they will be ok with me helping a princess." He says as he pulls out his phone to tell his parents what he's doing. "Oh would you happen to know anyones phone number? To let them know where you are?" You shake your head no and he puts it back in his pocket. "Well that's no good. I guess we just sit here. Mind if I do my homework?" "By all means go ahead. Studies are very important." You say as he pulls out his binder.
"Any sign of her yet?" Tony asks in the earpiece to the rest of the team. "Not yet." They all sound off. Tony and Sam are searching from above. With the compound being home base the rest of the team take different areas of the city. Thor and Banner in the north. Clint and Natasha, East. Bucky and Steve, West. Wanda and Vision, South. "I know she doesn't know the city but any idea where she might have wondered to? Like a bookshop or park?" Vision asks in the coms. "Maybe a park but the restaurant wasn't near central." Loki says as he paces the floor. He watches the security camera feed for any chance you wondered back to the compound. "Anyone near central?" Thor asks as Banner try's to keep up with his large steps. "We are. Heading there now." Steve and Bucky reply. "You take north I'll go south. Meet at the zoo." Steve says as he starts to run. Bucky uses his ex-assassin skills to quickly look through the crowds of people.
"What's school like on Asgard (Y/N)?" "Oh probably the same as here. Classrooms, books and teachers. What's your favorite subject?" "Gym. Even though people say that's not a real subject." "What's gym?" You ask and he looks at you funny. "It's a class you get to run around and play different sports. It's really fun. I'm sure Thor would have loved gym if you had it in Asgard." "Ah I think we had something like that. It was just called training. We would learn and train how to fight with swords and shields. Most of the girls would sit and watch the boys. I certainly did." You laugh as you remember sitting in the grass with your friends when you were young. "Yeah the girls sit on the benches too in my class. They don't want to mess up their clothes or hair." "What are you working on now?" You ask as he starts another worksheet. "This is history homework. We are learning about World War Two in class. That's when Steve Rodgers became Captain America. You know Captain America right?" "Yes I met him the other day." "And this friend Bucky Barnes? The man with the metal arm?" "Oh yes I met all of the Avengers." "That's so cool. I'd like to meet them some day." He sighs as he works on his paper.
"I think I see her by the fountain. Not sure yet." Bucky says into the earpiece. "Be careful. She gets scared easy." Loki says praying it's you Bucky found. He walks closer and starts calling your name. You look all around to finally see him waving. "Yes it's (Y/N). She seems to have someone with her." Bucky laughs as he gives the location to the team. "Thank the gods someone found me. I wouldn't know what I would do if I was stuck here. Oh I'd like you to meet a friend I made. This is David, he has kept me company." "Wow you're Bucky Barnes. I'm learning about you in school." David says with wide eyes. Bucky offers his hand to shake David's. "Thanks for keeping my friend safe. You're a true hero." "Yes absolutely. Thank you so much." You say giving him a hug just as the rest of the team start to walk up to the fountain. "Glad you're safe sister. Loki will be so relieved." Thor says giving you a hug. The team all thank David and take a few pictures with him. Even giving him a special Avengers pin before Steve and Bucky walk him home. Thor and the rest of the team get you back to the compound. Loki was waiting in the couch area as you come up the steps. You both rush into each other's arms. "I'm so glad you're ok little one. I was worried sick. What happened? How did you get lost?" He asks using his thumb to brush away your tears. "I'm not sure. You said to go to the car. I must have made a wrong turn and ended up in a park." "Oh my love what will I ever do with you." He chuckles before kissing your cheek.
