Apparently Dean had broken up with Rory so the next morning Rory dragged Lorelai and Victoria out of bed at 6:00 am on a Saturday.
"Hello, did you rearrange the furniture?" Lorelai asks walking into the kitchen where her daughters are. "Yes" Rory answers.
"Good, cause for a minute there I thought we were having a problem with decorator elves and I was gonna have to call an exterminator and tent the place" Lorelai jokes. "So was there any reason you suddenly felt the need to move around large pieces of furniture first thing in the morning?" Victoria asks her sister. "I was up, it was there" Rory answers.
"Okay, good thought process" Victoria replies.
"Now I noticed that you didn't move the tv though" Lorelai says. "It was too heavy" Rory explains.
"Right, okay. Well I like this, yeah this is good. Now of course when the sofa actually faced the tv it made it a little easier to watch but you know this is good too. It'll be um, you know like the radio" Lorelai says. "You ready to go?" Rory asks. "Yeah, I am. Just one quick sec. Um why don't you uh could you put the pen down?" Lorelai asks her.
"I'm just finishing the list" Rory replies.
"Yes, we see. And as much as we love your list let's just uh finish this particular one in a little while, okay?" Victoria suggests. "Okay" Rory says putting down the pen.
"Rory, I'm concerned about you. I wish you would talk to me" Lorelai tells her. "I don't want to deal with it right now, I can't deal with it right now" Rory responds. "Fair enough, but listen I've had my heart broken before. It's really hard. It's hard for everyone, so can I give you a little advice?" Lorelai asks.
"Okay" Rory agrees.
"I think what you really need to do today is wallow" Lorelai suggests. "Wallow?" Rory questions.
"Oh yeah, get back in your pajamas, go to bed, eat nothing but gallons of ice cream and tons of pizza, don't take a shower or shave your legs or out on any kind of makeup at all and just sit in the dark and watch a really sad movie and have a good long cry and just wallow" Victoria explains. "No" Rory replies. "Rory, your first love is intense and your first breakup even more intense. Shoving it away and ignoring it while you make lists isn't gonna help" Lorelai tells her.
"I don't want to wallow" Rory insists.
"Try it, for one day" Victoria suggests. "No" Rory rejects.
"One day of pizza and pajamas, I'll rent love story, and the champ, an affair to remember, Ishtar" Lorelai starts listing movies. "I don't want to be that kind of girl" Rory tells her. "The kind of girl who watches Ishtar?" Victoria asks.
"The kind of girl who just falls apart because she doesn't have a boyfriend" Rory explains.
"That description hardly applies to you" Lorelai tells her. "It will if I wallow" Rory says.
"Not true" Victoria denies. "So I used to have a boyfriend and now I don't, okay that's just the way it is. I mean sitting in the dark eating junk food and not shaving my legs isn't gonna change that is it?" Rory asks. "No" Lorelai answers.
"Okay, so I don't even want to go there. I have things to do. I have school and Harvard to think about" Rory says.
"Honey, Harvard's like three years away" Victoria reminds her sister. "But now is the time to be preparing for it. I mean Harvard is hard to get into and I don't know why I even spend my time thinking about anything else" Rory replies.
"Because you have a pulse and you are not the president of the audiovisual club" Lorelai responds. "I'm sixteen I have the rest of my life to have a boyfriend, I should be keeping my eye on the prize right now" Rory says. "I admire your attitude" Victoria comments.
"Thank you" Rory thanks her.
"So should we rent Old Yeller too or is that just a guys crying movie?" Lorelai asks. "You're not listening to me" Rory says.
"We are listening to you, we just don't agree with you" Victoria explains. "I don't want to wallow and you can't make me" Rory tells her. "Okay, fine" Lorelai says.
"Thank you" Rory thanks her.
"So that must be the list" Victoria says as Rory starts looking at the list again. "Yes, it is" Rory confirms.
"May I see it please?" Victoria asks. Rory hands her the list. "We do not need a garden hose" Victoria says as she starts reading the list.
"We don't have one" Rory replies.
"We don't have a garden either" Victoria responds. "But maybe if we have a hose we can grow one" Rory explains her thinking.
"Can I see the pen for a second?" Lorelai asks taking the list from Victoria. "Why?" Rory asks. "Small adjustment small adjustment" Lorelai tells her.
Rory hands her the pen and she adds something to the list before handing the list back to Rory.
"Mom" Rory says. "What? It's on the list, don't you have to do it if it's on the list?" Lorelai asks.
"I am not going to wallow" Rory says crossing wallow off the list. "But I put it after going to the recycling center" Lorelai responds.

"What are all these people doing up its Saturday morning?" Lorelai asks as the Gilmore girls walk through town.
"Some people like getting up early" Victoria tells her. "You lie" Lorelai accuses.
"No they do it voluntarily" Rory joins the conversation. "Really?" Lorelai asks. "Every day" Victoria tells her.
"Jump back" Lorelai responds.
"Excuse me?" Rory asks. "Kevin Bacon Footloose Reaction to the no dancing in town rule as revealed to him by Chris Penn brother to Sean sage to all" Lorelai explains.
"Should've known" Victoria says. "Yes you should've, I don't know what they teach you in that damn school" Lorelai tells her. "What?" Victoria asks noticing that Rory's stopped walking.
"I can't go that way" Rory tells her.
"Why? We're going to Luke's" Lorelai asks. "No" Rory says.
"You pulled me out of bed at six in the morning and now you're saying no to Luke's don't you realize how dangerous that is?" Lorelai questions her daughter. "I can't go that way" Rory repeats. "Reason please?" Victoria requests.
"Because we'd have to go by Doose's market" Rory answers.
"So?" Lorelai asks. "So we might run into..." Rory starts.
"Oh" Lorelai says realizing who what the problem is. "Yeah" Rory replies. "Right" Victoria says.
"Um, you don't know if he's working?" Lorelai asks.
"I don't remember, his weekend schedule changes a lot" Rory says. "Okay, well we'll just take the long way" Victoria suggests.
"No" Rory rejects that idea too. "Why?" Lorelai asks. "We'd have to go by the school" Rory answers.
"But there's no school today" Victoria points out.
"But on his days off from work he plays football at the school with some of his friends" Rory explains. "Well at what time?" Lorelai asks.
"It varies" Rory tells her. "Okay, well we'll just go down Peach and we'll circle around" Victoria suggests a third way. "You're shaking your head, why?" she asks her sister.
"Dean lives on Peach" Rory says.
"Rory, honey, love of my life, you realize you've completely cut us off from Luke's where the happy coffee is" Lorelai comments. "I'm sorry" Rory apologizes.
"No it's okay, it's okay. Ok we'll just um well we'll figure something out" Lorelai assures her.

"Sorry" Rory apologizes as the girls have to go through trees and into an alley filled with trash to get to Luke's.
"No this is good, it's like G.I. Jane but we get to keep our hair" Victoria tells her. "I just couldn't" Rory says.
"Honey say no more, think of this as an adventure. Three girls battling the elements desperate for survival" Lorelai tells her. "Or coffee" Victoria says. "Same thing" Lorelai replies.
"You know I bet you can tell a lot about people from their garbage" Rory says.
"Yeah?" Victoria asks. "Think about it, trash is discarded aspects of people's lives. It talks about their eating habits, what they read, do they go to concerts, are they responsible, do they pay their bills on time" Rory explains.
"Yeah, you do know honey that trash doesn't actually talk at all unless it's on Sesame Street" Lorelai says. "I'm just trying to make a point" Rory replies. "That uh going through people's garbage is interesting" Victoria comments.
"And educational" Rory says.
"And stinky, and a little nuts" Lorelai adds. "There's nothing nuts about wanting to know more about human nature, curiosity is how we grow" Rory says starting to go through trash.
"Bah, we need to get you out of this early" Victoria says knocking a dirty shirt out of her sister's hands and then all enter Luke's from the back door. "Who are all these people?" Lorelai asks shocked that Luke's is so crowded. "It's the 6:00 a.m. crowd" Victoria tells her.
"I officially recognize nobody in this place" Lorelai says.
"Hey" Rachel says walking over to them. "Oh, hi" Lorelai greets her.
"Coffee while you wait?" Rachel offers. "Oh, bless you" Lorelai says taking a coffee cup from her. "So Luke put you to work huh?" Lorelai asks.
"Yeah well I figured if I'm gonna be hanging around here for a while the least I can do is help out" she explains.
"So you're gonna be hanging around for a while here?" Lorelai awkwardly asks. "Yeah, I think so" Rachel answers.
"Oh well that's nice" Lorelai replies. "Yeah" Rachel. "So, where is Luke?" Rory asks.
"Well we were kinda up late last night so I let him sleep in" Rachel tells her.
"Sleep in? Luke?" Lorelai asks. "Oh believe me it wasn't easy to get him to agree to it but in the end a little sweet talk, a couple excedrin PMs, he finally caved" Rachel says.
"Hey, there's a seat over there" Rory points out. "Great" Lorelai says still awkward. "Oh, go, go. I'll be over in a sec" Rachel tells them.
"Okay" Lorelai says as they start walking towards the table.
"I feel like everyone is staring at me" Rory says as they sit down. "Well yeah because you've got a banana peel stuck to your foot" Victoria jokes.
"I do?!" Rory asks checking her feet. "I'm kidding, nobody's staring at you" Victoria tells her. "They know" Rory says.
"They don't know" Lorelai assures her.
"It's probably all around town by now" Rory insists. "It just happened last night, it's like six in the morning" Victoria points out.
"Everyone knows that I've been dumped" Rory says. "Do you want to go home?" Lorelai asks her. "No, we have a list" Rory replies.
"Okay, great. I'm gonna order us something, any preferences? Eggs, french toast, key to the dumpster?" Lorelai asks.
"I don't care" Rory responds. "Okay, I'll be right back" Lorelai says getting up.
When Lorelai comes back she finds Kirk at the table talking to her daughters about Rory's break up. "Hey, good morning Kirk" Lorelai greets him. "Lorelai, I want to express my apologies for not voicing my concerns about that floppy haired jerk earlier" Kirk apologizes.
"Don't, uh, you need to leave now" Lorelai says knowing Rory's uncomfortable with people talking about the break up.
"I can not leave until you accept my apology" Kirk tells her. "I accept your apology" Lorelai says.
"Alright, it will not happen again" Kirk replies. "Okay" Lorelai says before Kirk walks away. "Thank you" Rory thanks her.
"Are you sure you don't want to-" Victoria starts.
"Do not say wallow" Rory cuts her off. "Swallow your coffee before you eat" Victoria says.
"I am fine" Rory insists. "But if you could see the look on your face" Lorelai says. "It's the same look you had on your face when you broke up with Max, did wallowing help you get over him?" Rory asks her.
"I'm not saying wallowing will make you get over Dean, it's part of the process. It's the morning period, it's a step. An important step, the only thing that will get you over somebody is time" Lorelai explains.
"How much time did it take you to get over Max?" Rory asks. "I'm not sure exactly" Lorelai says.
"Approximately?" Rory asks her. "I didn't clock it" Lorelai tells her. "Ballpark figure?" Rory asks.
"A while" Lorelai answers.
"Be vaguer" Rory complains. "Rory, come on" Victoria says knowing her mom doesn't want to talk about it.
"More coffee?" Luke offers walking up to the table. "Pancakes are coming right up, anything else I can get you?" he asks Rory while refilling her cup. "No thanks" Rory answers him.
"Hey, I've got some strawberries back there. You like strawberries don't you?" he asks receiving a nod from Rory.
"Yeah, I like strawberries" Rory answers. "I'm getting you strawberries" Luke says walking away.
"You told him didn't you?" Victoria asks her mother. "No" Lorelai denies. "Miss Patty did" she lies.
"Who told Miss Patty?" Rory asks.
"I don't know, nobody knows her sources" Lorelai says. "If you tell Miss Patty everybody in towns gonna know" Rory tells her.
"People have their own lives and their own problems, I hardly think you and Dean breaking up is the main thing on their minds" Victoria tries to make her sister feel better. "Oh my god" Lorelai says looking out the window. "What?" Rory asks before her and Victoria turn to see Luke and Dean fighting outside the diner.
"Oh my god" Victoria says and all three girls run outside.
"Hey, hey, hey! Cut it out!" Lorelai yells. "Break it up!" Victoria yells.
"You, back off! Come over here!" Lorelai yells grabbing Luke and pulling the boys apart. "What do you think you're doing?!" she asks him. "He started it" Luke says.
"By doing what?" Victoria asks.
"He was coming in" Luke defends himself. "Are you a lunatic? He's sixteen!" Lorelai yells at him.
"What was I supposed to do?" Luke asks. "We'll stand in the middle of the street and have a slap fight of course" Lorelai says sarcastically. "Come here" Lorelai says and her and Victoria take Luke inside.
When they come back out Rory's standing there looking visibly upset about seeing Dean.
"Hey" Victoria says as they walk over to her. "Hey" Rory says back.
"So where's that list?" Lorelai asks. "What?" Rory asks still in a daze. "The list, we've got a lot to do today. So where do we start?" Victoria asks her sister.
"Well, um we need a soap dish for the kitchen" Rory says pulling out the list.
"Ah, a kitchen soap dish. Quite decadent, but what the hell let's go" Lorelai says.

"Well that was a very successful outing for us" Rory says as the three Gilmore girls walk into the kitchen all holding bags full of stuff Rory insisted they needed.
"Yes, it was" Victoria agrees. "We got everything on the list except for the brown extension cord" Rory says as they put down their bags.
"Which will be in on Tuesday" Lorelai adds. "So I think that qualifies as a check too" Victoria tells them. "Are you happy?" Lorelai asks Rory.
"I appreciate a job well done yeah" Rory says starting to put stuff away.
"I can't wait to try the toaster pizza, it looks so gross. Which is usually the mark of a great junk food" Lorelai says. "Beeforoni" Victoria comments.
"Enough said" Lorelai replies. "I'm gonna go plug in my new air freshener, give me five minutes and then come sniff my room" Rory says going in her room. "Cheese or pepperoni?" Lorelai asks showing Rory the toaster pizzas.
"Whatever" Rory shrugs.
"Both, good choice" Lorelai says. "Hey sugars, I just heard. Where is she? Poor little thing, Rory sweetie!" Babette says coming in.
"Oh, come, come on" Victoria says as her and Lorelai take Babette outside. "Babette, I appreciate you coming over like this but Rory's not really in a talking mood right now" Lorelai tells her. "But I can help, I can tell her how you have to go through a lot of bad relationships to get to that really good one. And I can tell her about all the horrible men I've known in my day, really truly awful men. I was pushed out of a moving car once" Babette insists.
"Babette I want you to tell her all that, just not right now" Victoria says.
"Is she really bad?" Babette asks. "She'll be fine" Lorelai tells her.
When Lorelai and Victoria walk back inside they see Rory walking out of her room holding a flier. "Oh, they had some of our mail" Lorelai says making up an excuse for why they were outside. "Look" Rory says handing her sister the flier.
"Madeline's party" Victoria says looking at the flier.
"I'm going to go" Rory tells her. "You're going to a Chilton party?" Lorelai asks.
"Yes, I am" Rory confirms. "Why don't you just stay home and read the bell jar, same effect" Victoria tells her. "We're gonna be going to school there for the next two years, wouldn't kill us to be social" Rory responds.
"Ok you're right, I just gotta call Tristan and tell him there's a change in plans" Victoria says.
"No don't cancel your date for me, I can go alone" Rory insists. "Are you sure? You don't really talk to any of the Chilton kids" Victoria asks.
"Yeah Ill be fine, besides the whole point of me going is to get out and talk to new people" Rory tells her. "Well why don't you see if Lane can come with you, you know just in case the socializing doesn't turn out how you planned you got a friendly face around" Lorelai suggests. "Okay, good idea. Thank you" Rory agrees.
"You're welcome" Lorelai replies.
"Can I take the car?" Rory asks. "Yes" Lorelai answers.
"Can I borrow something to wear?" Rory asks turning to her sister this time. "Yes" Victoria tells her. "Are you both gonna give into anything I say because you feel sorry for me?" Rory asks a final question.
"Yes" both Lorelai and Victoria admit.
"I'll make a list" Rory says walking into her room.

"They really broke up?" Tristan asks as him and Victoria walk through the carnival.
"Yeah" Victoria confirms. "And Rory still hasn't told you what happened?" Tristan asks.
"Nope, all she's saying is that he broke up with her I still have no idea why" Victoria tells him. "That doesn't even make any sense, he liked her way too much to just dump her for no reason" Tristan says confused. "I know, and now she's going to Madeline's party and acting like everything's fine when she's not fine. I know my sister, I know she's not fine" Victoria complains.
"You just gotta let her deal with it her way, you know she'll tell you what happened eventually" Tristan tells her.
"Yeah, I know" Victoria sighs. "Come on, I'll get you a snow cone" Tristan says grabbing her hand.

At Madeline's party Rory hears Kaiden and Summer argue.
"Why won't you just answer me?" Kaiden asks his girlfriend. "Because you didn't say please" Summer responds.
"Summer" Kaiden says. "Can we do this later? There's a party going on" Summer asks. "Look just tell me what you were doing locked in the bathroom with Austin" Kaiden replies.
"Nothing" Summer answers.
"Nothing?" Kaiden questions. "Yep" Summer says.
"No" Kaiden denies. "Well why don't you tell me what I was doing since you seem to know everything" Summer asks him. "You are my girlfriend" Kaiden reminds her.
"Now he's a caveman, what are you gonna do knock me on my head with a club and drag me back to your Porsche?" Summer sarcastically asks before starting to walk away.
"Summer please" Kaiden stops her. "Ooh, good song" Summer says before walking away dancing.

"Ooh photo booth" Victoria says pulling Tristan over to the booth with her.
"You seriously making me do this?" Tristan asks her. "I need cute pictures of us we don't have any" Victoria insists.
"Alright" Tristan says putting money in the booth so they can start the pictures. The first picture is just a cute one of them smiling, then for the second Tristan kisses her. When the third picture takes the simple kiss had already been heightened into a long passionate one, and for the fourth Tristan leaving kisses down Victoria's neck.
Even after the pictures are done they still stay in there making out for a few more minutes.
Then they finally get out and look at the pictures. "Oh my god" Victoria laughs.
"They're porn" she says showing them to Tristan. "They're not that bad" Tristan tells her. "I wanted cute and dorky not Merder prom scene" Victoria pouts.
Tristan simply laughs and kisses the side of her head.

"Kaiden, stop it" Summer says later on when her and Kaiden are still fighting.
"You're making me chase you around the whole party" Kaiden complains. "Just trying to have fun" Summer says.
"Ok you won't talk to me you won't dance with me, why the hell did you even come with me?" Kaiden asks. "Stop yelling" is all Summer says back. "Summer, please can we just go?" Kaiden asks her.
"No" Summer answers.
"Please" Kaiden asks again. "No, I'm sick of fighting with you. I'm sick of hearing twenty times a day 'you're my girlfriend'" Summer tells him.
"Ok could we possibly do this somewhere where a room full of people aren't staring at us?" Kaiden asks. "I think we should break up" Summer finally says. "I really want to go outside and talk about this" Kaiden says.
"Then go, bye" Summer says walking away.

"Oh sorry" Rory says walking into what she thought would be an empty room and was shocked to see Kaiden sitting alone at the piano.
"No problem" he replies. "I'm sorry" Rory says again taking a step closer this time.
"About what?" Kaiden asks. "About you and Summer" Rory tells him. "I don't want to talk about Summer" Kaiden says.
"Okay, so how'd you do on that biology test?" Rory asks trying to make conversation.
"What?" Kaiden asks. "The test. It was hard, wasn't it?" Rory says.
"Yeah, it was hard" Kaiden says confused. "I got a B-plus" Rory says walking over and standing next to the piano. "What are you doing?" Kaiden asks.
"Talking about the test" Rory says as if it's the most obvious thing.
"Why?" Kaiden asks. "Because you said you didn't want to talk about Summer" Rory answers.
"I don't" Kaiden confirms. "Okay, so I moved to biology. Sorry did you want to talk about Spanish?" Rory says. "You just loved it didn't you?" Kaiden asks.
"Loved what?" Rory asks him.
"Seeing me nailed like that, it must have been a great moment" Kaiden clarifies. "Not really" Rory answers honestly.
"Please. You loved it, she loved it, everybody love it" Kaiden scoffs. "I did not love it" Rory says sitting next to him. "I really liked her too" Kaiden admits.
"Yeah, I know" Rory replies.
"So where's your boyfriend tonight?" Kaiden asks. "He's not my boyfriend anymore" Rory tells him.
"Why not?" Kaiden asks her. "Didn't want to be" Rory says. "Idiot" Kaiden comments.
"So is Summer" Rory tells him.
"You think you'll get back together?" Kaiden asks her. "He was pretty set in his decision" Rory answers.
"When did it happen?" Kaiden asks actually caring. "Yesterday" Rory tells him. She feels strangely comfortable opening up to the guy that usually bugs her.
"Wow" is all Kaiden says.
"It was our three month anniversary" Rory adds. "That sucks" Kaiden says not knowing what to say.
"Yeah, it does suck" Rory agrees. "Do you think you guys will?" she asks about him and Summer getting back together. "No, no. No, no, no, no, no" Kaiden says with no hesitation.
"So no?" Rory jokingly asks.
"No" Kaiden says one last time. "Hey, I'm sorry I gave you such a hard time for a while" he apologizes.
"Oh, that's okay" Rory lies. "It is?" Kaiden asks. "Well no, but you're sad" Rory admits.
"Yeah, well I am sorry" Kaiden genuinely apologizes.
"I accept your apology" Rory accepts. "Oh man, it's a great party huh?" Kaiden asks.
"Yeah, not bad" Rory says. "It gave me a chance to catch up on my reading" she adds. "You are very odd, you know that?" Kaiden tells her.
"Thank you" Rory takes that as a compliment.
"You're welcome" Kaiden says amazed by her. Then they just sit there in silence looking at each other.
But then after an internal conflict Kaiden decides to go for it and slowly lean in. He pauses for a second and when she still doesn't move away he kisses her. Rory kisses back for a while but then pulls away... crying.
"I'm sorry, what did I do? Did I bite your lip or something?" Kaiden asks.
"No, it's not you. I just- I have to go" Rory says running out of the room.

After a VERY long wait episode seventeen is finally done.
I hate myself.
I'm sorry like genuinely sorry I kept saying "a few more days" or "sometime this week" and it's been over a month.
I really didn't think it would be this long I just had zero motivation and complete writers block
