The rest of the day seemed to pass by quick in preparations for the engagement, soon elders of the Verma and Rathore family arrived at the Malhotra mansion, they all greeted each other when Kartik asked, "Baaki saab kahan hai?"
Sania: Buss pounch hi rahe hoge, just as she said this the youngsters of the clan arrived- They greeted everyone and touched the elders' feet. When Ishqi was touching Savitri's feet she pulled her up and hugged her. No one really noticed except Kartik, "Tai Ji toh bhaiyya ka rishta yahin fit kareingi" he mumbled smiling-
A smile appeared on Ahaan's face as soon as he caught sight of Ishqi, "Ishqi was looking gorgeous in a colourful printed lengha and black top. Her hair was tied in a dutch braid ponytail while her emerald earrings and glowy makeup accentuated the entire look. She looked enticing and cute at the same time.
Ishqi looked up and saw Ahaan standing on top of the stairs smiling at her, when their eyes met time seemed to stop for a moment. "Ahaan was also looking very handsome in a matching black suit, he'd paired it with black loafers and an expensive diamond Rolex watch. His hair was gelled back and he wore his iconic "AVM" bracelet, he looked insanely attractive and Ishqi thought so too.
Ever since they'd met, this was the first time where they hadn't fought upon just one glance of each other, something seemed different after the afternoon in the mall.
To break them from their trance Sarla Auntie said, "Engagement ke time mein sirf daas(10) minutes reh gaye hai, aab Sonu ko bolva hi lijiye"- "Gi Sarli Ji, bikul" Savitri replied as she gestured Kartik to get Sonu from her room but Dadi stopped him-
Dadi: Ishqi puttar, tu ja ke Sonu ko ley aai gi?
Ishqi: Of course Dadi ji! Uss ka room kahan hai?
Dadi: Ahaan hai na, woh tujhe baata de ga- she spotted Ahaan standing on the stairs, "Ahaan puttar, jaa Ishqi ko Sonu ke room mein leja-"
Ahaan: Ji Dadi-
Kartik (inner voice): Wah! Inn dono ki godfather toh Dadi baan rahi hai- I never thought I'd see this sight!
Ishqi went up to Ahaan while the adults sat in the lounge to wait for Sonu to arrive- He led her to Sonu's room while they kept glancing at each other along the way.
Sonu's room door was open, she ran up to Ishqi as soon as she spotted her- Sonu pulled Ishqi into a tight hug, "Ishqiiii, thank god tum aagayi, mein inti der se tumhara hi wait kar rahi thi" she tore from the hug, "Mujhe samaj hi nahi araha ke iss lenghe ke saath kon si jewelry pehno"
Sonu pulled Ishqi into the room and sat on the stool while Ishqi matched different jewelry sets with her clothes. Ahaan stood by the door adoring their bond, "Humesha se mujhe ek aise life partner chahiye thi jo meri family ke saath bond kar pai, someone who they all love. Ishqi bilkul waisi h- EK SECOND! AHAAN!!! HOLD YOUR HORSES!! Yeh tu kya fazool baatein sooch raha hai, she's still that batameez, ajeeb language bolne waali, clumsy and irritating girl...and you've literally only known her for 2 days! You don't know how she actually is..Tu yeh saab mat sooch" he mentally said-
"Yes! Yeh saab se acche lag rahe hai" Sonu exclaimed bringing Ahaan back into reality while Ishqi helped her wear the necklace-
"You look beautiful Sonu" Ishqi said making Sonu blush- "Tum bhi amazing lag rahi ho Ishqi, kyun Ahaan bhaiyya?" Sonu looked towards her brother who immediately became conscious but couldn't control his nod and the smile that crossed his face.
Ishqi and Ahaan shared an eye-lock while Sonu observed them both, "perfect" escaped her lips, Ishqi cleared her throat and said, "Let's go downstairs Sonu, saab wait kar rahe hoge"- Sonu nodded and Ishqi and Ahaan both took Sonu down to the lounge where everyone was seated.
Sarla: Wow Ji, humari hone waali bahu toh bohot sundar lag rahi hai, kyun Raj? she said making Raj blush while he lowered his gaze and nodded.
Dadi: Chalo, aab sagai kar lete hai- They all went up to the setup stage for the engagement, Raj and Sonu stood opposite to each other and exchanged rings while everyone clapped for the duo.
Fast Forward: When the engagement ceremony was successfully completed Sonu and Raj performed a beautiful dance, then everyone had dinner together and left for their respective houses. It was decided that the Mendhi ceremony would be held the next day as early as 2pm. Ishqi and Ahaan have both decided to take a break from work on the day they have wedding functions to attend.

( Ishqi's Part )
On a sunny Saturday morning Ishqi woke up with the blazing sound of her alarm clock, she didn't snooze it because she was actually looking forward to the day ahead of her. Ishqi couldn't quite put her finger on what but something had changed. She extended her arm and grabbed her phone which was sitting on her side table- It was 10am, she shot up from her bed and got dressed into a t-shirt and some jeans.
She headed downstairs and had breakfast with her family then got busy preparing for the Mendhi function that was being held at the Malhotra mansion in the evening.

( Ahaan's Part )
It was 10am and Ahaan was obviously already up, it was his sister's mendhi function after-all, he wasn't going to laze around all day. He was busy giving orders to people to set up things properly. "Carnations nahi orchids lagane hai" "Move it to the right..no no left" "Hurry up!!" "Put more fairy lights" "You forgot to put the led lights!!!" were the only things he kept saying.
After hours of yelling out directions and commands, when things seemed proper and complete he finally went into his room to get dressed and prepare himself for Rhea's annoying clingy behaviour that he knew was coming up.

All the guests started arriving in the Malhotra mansion but his eyes only searched for her, he himself didn't know why. She too was eager to catch a glimpse of him...the restlessness they felt was confusing them both.
Ahaan's eyes were glued to the door waiting for her to enter, when she did their eyes met. The world ceased to exist for a while, both didn't have any strong feelings for each other then but they sure felt attracted towards one another. Ishqi and Ahaan both started walking towards each other, why? No one knew-
When they were close enough Ishqi said, "Hi AVM!"- "Hey Ishqi, you look nice"- she smiled, "thank you"- Just then someone called Ishqi to apply henna, she nodded and left from there.
Unknown to them both, Kartik had seen this interaction of them, he grinned, "Nice? Pehli baar bhai ko kissi ladki ko compliment dete hue dekha hai, wah! yeh bhai ko ho kya raha hai", he mumbled-
"Ishqi effect" he heard from behind him, Kartik turned around to see Tara standing there smiling, she had also seen Ishqi and Ahaan's cute little interaction.
Tara: Ishqi effect horaha hai Ahaan bhaiyya ko-
Kartik: Ishqi effect?
Tara: Ishqi Effect, seedha dil nahi dimaag kharab karti hai but in this case oulta horaha hai- And Ahaan bhaiyya ka asar bhi di par horaha raha hai-
Kartik: Really? Woh kaise?
Tara: Matlab di kabhi bhi weekend ke din alarm nahi lagati but today she did and didn't even snooze it once- Aur phir ghar par sab se pehle ready hogayi and hum saab se keh rahi thi "hurry up everyone, AVM ke ghar jaana hai" "AVM wait kar rahe hoge, unhe late aane waale log pasand nahi"
Kartik: Oh my god!! Aur bhai toh kissi ladki ko maangne ke baad bhi compliment nahi dete aur Ishqi ko milne ke 2 din baad hi de dia!
Tara: Waise Kartik, Inn dono ke beech kuch toh chal raha hai-
Kartik: Hmmm, pata lagana pareyga, Lekin first we need to make sure ke inn dono ke beech Rhea na aaye-
Tara: Rhea?
Kartik: Rhea is someone whose obsessed with bhai- but she's very clingy and bhai doesn't like her. Kuch saalon se bhai ke paas aane ki koshish kar rahi hai but he's not interested. Agar usse pata chala ke Ishqi ke liye bhai ke dil mein kuch horaha hai toh she's going to kill those feelings before they even start properly-
Tara: Oh-
Kartik: Hmm, tum buss hope karo ke Rhea bhai aur Ishqi se dour rahe-
Tara: Yeah-
Tara and Kartik agreed to work together to ensure Ishqi and Ahaan's feelings wouldn't be destroyed by Rhea.
Meanwhile someone who the Malhotra siblings' had hoped wouldn't come entered the house, Kartik immediately spotted her, "Look" he said to Tara while pointing towards the door, "She's here- Rhea, Rhea Mehta"

While Ahaan and Ishqi had just started developing some unsure feelings for each other the villain of their story, Rhea had already made an entry. Would these mere feelings turn strong or would Rhea poison them before they even begin properly? Only time would tell- ✨
