"Jonathan, you idiot." Letting out a long sigh you shifted uncomfortably atop the wooden chair you'd dragged over, hands clutching a wet towel that you attempted to use to cool down the navy haired man all the while accidentally drenching the sleeves of your shirt.
After watching the mansion turn into a fiery inferno both yourself and Speedwagon couldn't help but stand by idly and watch the fight progress eventually being there when Jonathan was shot out of the house barely conscious- leading to the three of you now taking refuge elsewhere recovering from any injuries sustained.
"Ah, excuse me." Turning your head towards the room's door and seeing that it was cracked open your eyes right away settled on the form of a blond woman, her hands carried a new bowl of water and it appeared as though she was there to take your spot.
"Oh, sorry about that. I'll leave him to you then." Pushing yourself off the chair and setting the towel aside, you watched her let out a soft hum, the both of you swapping places before she looked towards where you stood.
A sense of familiarity sparked up between the two of you for a mere second.
"Erina?" The name slipped out from between your lips and it appeared as though the woman's smile grew, a nod was spared in confirmation and her blue hues lit up.
"And you're (Y/N)? Wow, you look amazing."
"You do too." Quickly returning the compliment it seemed as though the two of you maintained eye contact for a minute or two unsure of how exactly to continue or if the conversation needed to be continued.
"Well, I should let you do whatever it is you came here to do. I just didn't want JoJo to overheat." Your concern was clearly shown through the way your eyes flickered towards the man and without much thought, she'd reached out resting a hand on your shoulder.
"You go and rest. He's in good hands."
Sparing the woman another nod you slipped out into the hall releasing a sigh, although your eyes right away trailed to the side seeing the form of another person lurking by a window. "Shouldn't you be resting?"
"Shouldn't you be too?" Firing back the blond let out a hum, his cane was slightly raised into the air pointing over towards where you stood in a mock accusing manner before his attention trailed out a nearby window. "I was just heading out to get some fresh air. Care to join me?"
Pursing your lips a soft hum left you, "If you don't mind of course. I could use some fresh air too." Seeing him turn in place you found yourself walking alongside the man trailing outside till the night's brisk air nipped against the skin of your face.
"A man's encounters are woven by the fates..." Hearing Speedwagon declare that you couldn't help but spare the man a curious glance, your attention shifting away from the moon above towards where he stood.
"What do you mean by that?"
"I mean that every one a man encounters is up to fate," Trailing towards a nearby bench the blond settled himself into it allowing his wooden cane to rest off to the side. "Wouldn't you say so?" Extending a hand he patted the empty spot beside him, an unspoken question which you understood right away moving over to occupy the seat.
"I suppose you're right. But I certainly think some encounters could be better." Side eyeing the man you watched him let out a cough into his hand knowing exactly what you meant by that.
"It was merely something fate intended."
Leaning back into the bench you let out an airy huff similar to a quick laugh, "I can't argue much in that case then."
A silence ensued after your words were uttered but it didn't feel awkward, more like something comforting compared to the chaos of what happened throughout the week.
"Say Miss (L/N), do you mind if I inquire on something?" Turning his attention away from the sky above towards where you sat he could hear you let out a hum in response, assuming that meant he could continue. "How long have you known Mister Joestar?"
Pulling your legs up from the ground to wrap your arms around them another hum left your lips, "Seven years? Give or take. Why?" Turning your head to the side and resting your cheek along the point of your knee you eyed the man, brow quirked up.
"I was just curious. The relationship the two of you have seemed like something that stemmed from childhood, although I assumed there was something more to it." At the mention of something more, he could see your eyes move back towards the building, a sort of memory resurfacing from the look of it.
"That I can't be too sure of myself, Speedwagon. If there is anything else, that would remain a mystery to me as well. Although I think Jonathan and Erina- the blond girl- would be a cute couple." Your own feelings for the navy haired man were still a big jumbled up mess and to say you were avoiding them would be an understatement.
If you didn't have to address the issue- then you wouldn't. Simple as that.
"I see." Letting out a low hum afterward Speedwagon's attention moved away from where you sat moving back up towards the sky. "Well, in that case, I hope that we can become better acquainted with one another Miss (L/-" "(Y/N), just call me (Y/N). Miss (L/N) makes me sound old."
Hearing you cut him off Speedwagon couldn't help but smile softly, his eyes lingered across the side of your face catching sight of your own lips curled into a smile.
perhaps the two of you would become good friends instead of acquaintances.
"Well then (Y/N). I hope we can become great friends."
Spending a few more minutes outside the two of you eventually headed back in parting from one another in order to get some rest, and now racket from down the stream the next day remained the center of your attention.
Yells caught your attention, but as you drew closer and as a familiar checkered patterned hat came into view did you understand why. The tall man had been standing within the small river, ripples vibrated from his legs, and from the looks of it he was punching a frog.
What a weird man.
Observing the scene from where you were, your eyes trailed towards Jonatan and Erina seeing their surprised expressions from when the frog swam away unharmed. "This is hsien-tao." Explaining that the tophat wearing man addressed the two.
"Hsien-tao?"
"You can just call it Hamon." Chiming in on what Jonathan was inquiring on you trailed closer towards the trio seeing that they'd turned their attention towards where you stood just across the stream. "Hey, Mr.Zeppeli."
"(Y/N)? You know him?"
A nod was given on your end towards your navy haired friend and the answer left your lips like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Yeah. He's the teacher I talk about."
"(Y/N), glad to see you're doing well." With a quick tip of his hat, Zeppeli turned back to face Jonathan explaining what had happened with the frog and rock. "My ripple energy passed through the frog as ripples then smashed the rock."
"JoJo! I know the stone mask hasn't been destroyed! Dio, the Man of the Mask, still carries it!"
"Dio?!" Both yourself and Jonathan called out the name in surprise, the two of you were under the assumption that the blond had died back when the house burnt down- but honestly, you should've known better than to assume something like that.
"You mean to say Dio's still alive!?"
"Yes. I've been hunting that mask for decades! To destroy the mask, and slay all who've worn it!" Proclaiming that the man then raised a hand pointing towards where Jonathan stood, "You are destined to war with the mask! You must learn the ways of hsien-tao, or you will perish! You, and all humanity!"
Taking in what was said Jonathan held onto a nearby tree, his mind ran through each and every word. "Does this mean (Y/N) knows how to use hsien-tao?"
"Unfortunately not so much." Taking a seat along the Riverbend and crossing your arms a sigh in disdain left your lips. Zeppeli had been trying to teach you the ways of hamon wherever he could, but the concept of it was something you just couldn't seem to grasp leading the man to teach you about Ripple clan history instead.
"(Y/N)'s body, unfortunately, fights the use of pure hamon leaving her unable to use it for the most part." Explaining that Zeppeli mimicked how you were, crossing his own arms. He still couldn't quite understand it himself- but that all just went along with why he'd been trying to aid you in whatever way he could. "But you JoJo, I can practically already see it flow through you like the very river I stand in."
Casting his gaze towards where you sat then towards where Erina stood Jonathan felt a sense of purpose, of course defeating Dio was the main source of it all but in doing so he made a promise to himself to keep innocent people out of his battle.
"Will you allow me to teach you the ways JoJo? To teach you how to defeat Dio and rid this world of the stone mask?" Standing tall Zeppeli eyes the navy haired man sternly, Jonathan's expression remained unchanged from its determined state.
"I will, to protect those I care about! And rid the world of a great evil!" Clenching his hand into a fist Jonathan's tone of voice was firm, serious even and anyone could see as plain as day that he meant each and every word.
It was admirable that Jonathan would proclaim something like that and you could only wish there was more you could do to aid in his journey.
Perhaps Zeppeli or someone else could help teach you something else that could aid the navy haired man.
