During the next few days, it'd begun to feel like Jonathan was avoiding you, that and the fact he was barely around.
You'd expected your stay at the Joestar mansion to be lively, you know spending time with one of your closest friends. Though instead of that your time was being occupied by his adoptive brother, the blond taking the time to check-in at least once a day.
Oddly enough.
But now speak of the devil, a knock rang out from your room's door merely leading you to let out a groan in response. The blankets of your bed were pulled over top of your face and the strong feeling of being unmotivated was what left you huddled within them all morning.
Hearing the door open a long sigh came from whoever had entered, "What even are you? A caveman?" From the tone and sound of their voice, you could quickly come to the conclusion that Dio had strolled in.
"Is there something you need?" Mumbling that out through the comforter the blond in question simply crossed his arms leaning across from where your bed sat.
"I have no clue as to what you'd just said."
A long sigh left you before the covers were pushed away from your face and the room's cold air instantly nipped at your skin, "I said is there something you need?" Keeping your eyes fixed to the ceiling a slight huff left the blond.
"Good god I feel bad for whatever chap marries you later on in life and has to see you like this in the mornings." Right away you huffed out in annoyance towards what he'd said, moving to sit up and somewhat glare at the blond albeit in a friendly manner though.
"I'll say it again, is there something you need?"
Tapping his foot against the ground he bobbed his head in a yes manner, "Yes actually there is. Get ready we're going out today." It wasn't as much of a question as it was a statement and you could only blink at the blond- proceed to roll your eyes, then lay back down.
"What if I don't want to."
Rolling his eyes once more the blond turned in place stepping over towards where your wardrobe was, "You need to leave the room one way or another, I swear you're going to shrivel up in here and die just because Jonathan stopped hanging around you." Cracking open the dual doors and looking through the outfits stored inside he let out a hum. "He's an idiot."
Sitting back up once more your gaze trailed across the room settling across Dio who's been critiquing the outfits and dresses hung up within the wardrobe. "Is this your way of a pep talk? Because if so I think you need to work on the pep part."
Rolling his eyes at what you'd said he merely ignored it, pulling one of your dresses from its hanger, "We're going into town so please look presentable. I don't want to look like I'm walking around with a homeless woman." Resting the article of clothing he'd chosen the blond spared you a look before slipping out of the room.
Looking at the dress a slight grumble left your lips, he wasn't wrong of course- you were certainly butthurt about Jonathan but nothing the blond had said really brightened your mood. There was someone else occupying the navy haired boys time, which was fine- if he would've told you who or anything along those lines.
But then again that made you feel like you were too clingy with the boy. He was allowed to have his own friends and do his own thing after all.
Reluctantly slipping out of the warm confines of your bed and looking over at the chosen dress a huff left your lips, it was one of the more patterned ones you owned that was a yellow and white colour with some frills sewn onto the bottom of the medium length skirt.
"Of course he'd pick this one" Talking to yourself once more a long sigh left you, there was no reason to continue moping and perhaps the blond had something up his sleeve to actually lift your mood.
Not that he seemed like the kind of person- but he was you know...trying his best.
Tidying yourself up and changing you slipped out into the hallway, eyes right away trailing towards Dio who'd been leaning against a wall opposite to your room's door. "Ready to go?"
"I still don't know what we're going to do. You really just came into my room, called me a caveman, said to get dressed and to make sure I don't look homeless." Restating what he's said in your room the blond couldn't help but let out a faint quick laugh, covering it up almost instantly with a cough.
"Well, it looks like you've done a sufficient job at not looking homeless. So let us be on our way." Stuffing his hands into the pockets of his trousers Dio began walking down the hall towards where the front door was, his eyes shifting back a few times to make sure you were trailing behind.
Lingering behind the blond as the two of you walked the town's shops easily stole your attention, the knick knacks and trinkets they displayed within the windows each told different stories.
Taking notice that you'd slowed down and disappeared from his peripheral Dio turned in place, amber hues briefly scanned the crowd before seeing your (H/C) stand out against a building's brick wall, your hands were lightly pressed into the store's glass display practically ogling what was inside.
A snide remark wanted to leave his lips comparing you to a child but he quickly closed it stopping anything from leaving, simply choosing to wait for you.
"Isn't it pretty?" Moving his attention towards where your index finger pointed his eyes landed among a simple necklace, something he wouldn't typically bat an eye at if not for the engravings on it.
"The necklace?"
A nod was given in response to the assumption, "Yeah the one with the bird on it. It's a swallow."
"And you just know that because?"
"Because my father likes to research birds?" Answering like it was the most obvious thing you turned observing the way one of Dio's brows arched up and his arms crossed over one another.
"Ah right. Because that's something all fathers do."
Raising a brow at the response you turned some more to face the blond, "Well what did yours do?" You knew it wasn't the best of questions to ask considering both his parents had passed, but you couldn't help but be curious.
A faint scowl stretched out across the blond's expression as soon as you'd finished the question, he hated his father with a burning passion so divulging into it wasn't something he was willing to do.
"He certainly was no father to me." After he'd stated that the blond pursed his lips, a frown was sneaking its way onto his expression before he'd shook his head not wanting to dwell on the subject any longer. "Would you like to go in and look at it?"
Feeling like there was too quick of a change in subject but not wanting to press on more you gave a slight nod followed by a quick 'sure'.
Nodding his own head Dio turned in place stepping towards the store's entrance proceeding to reach out and tug at its handle and hold it open. His other hand then motioned towards the inside of the store, a subtle way of saying 'ladies first'.
Stepping into the store you could now safely say it was some sort of antique shop. An array of mismatched items were scattered along wooden shelves and the smell was similar to how you assumed an elderly woman's house would smell.
Not overbearing but that sort of lavender-flowery smell.
"Oh good, it's a junk shop." One of your elbows right away nudged the blond drawing out a slight huff from him.
"It's an antique store and besides, you know the old saying don't you?" Beginning with that and trailing through one of the many isles your eyes trailed across the many different objects before reaching out to hold an hourglass turning it upside down. "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
Reaching out to take the hourglass from you Dio let out an uh huh kind of noise moving to place the item back onto the shelf. "It's all really just things people have no idea what to even do with, take a look at that over there. Old withered away books. I bet the inks already faded away." Pointing towards a section of dusty rose coloured books Dio then folded his arms over one another.
Rolling your eyes at the comment, you made your way over towards the books. There had to have been something important to them that led them to have been put there. "Alright bet. If there's something interesting in here, you buy me something from this store and if there's nothing in here then I buy you something."
Raising a hand to rest it beneath his chin he pondered over the conditions you'd laid out, "I'll take the bet but if I win you have to do whatever I say for the rest of the day." Opting to change his side of the bet amber hues lingered over your expression seeing a somewhat cocky smile creep across your lips.
"Alright, I'll accept the change. Now let's see who wins." Reaching out and tugging one of the middle books off the shelf you brushed away some of the dust that'd collected over time along the cover, the title 'A tale of two cities' was strewn about the cover, and faded drawings decorated the sides like a border.
Letting your hand linger on the cover page for added anticipation it was flipped open soon after and both yours and Dio's eyes landed on a crisp inky signature taking up the back of the cover.
The name 'Charles Dickens' was scribbled out followed by an added array of lines.
"Nothing in the book huh?"
"Shut up."
