Home. It was a term that (Name) could never understand. Some say it's a place that makes you feel comfortable, and a place you know like the back of your hand.
A place that makes you feel safe and protected. Though the shields are barely visible, the walls are enough to comfort you. In her early childhood, (Name) had a home. The days always felt warm and sunny, and everything seemed perfect.
And then came that blasted night.
(Name) spent the next ten years of her life in an orphanage, and no matter how hard it was, she kept her mouth shut. She learned to keep her mouth shut - the hard way.
The young girl changed her interests towards the medical world, however she was never intelligent enough to end up as a doctor or surgeon. Instead, she ended up as a nurse.
Her bright smile and kind words were what made the former Kazekage choose her to become his son's personal nurse, and that changed her fate entirely. From a girl who spent majority of her life alone, she found love. She found happiness.
However, it didn't last long. It didn't even last long enough for her to create sweet memories for her to cherish.
As they say though, fate leads to the most impossible events. They met again. It wasn't at all pretty. No words could describe the pain in (Name)'s heart when she saw another woman around Gaara. It hurt her, it truly did.
Broken, she left him behind without looking back. However, he chased after her.
He was just like a knight in shining armor, on his pure white steed. As for Gaara though, he was a Kazekage in a tuxedo, in his shiny brand new red Ferrari. When the rain started to fall, he was the first to offer her warmth.
Loyalty? Dedication? (Name) couldn't help but wonder what he saw in her. What did he see in plain old (Name), compared to Kamiko. All above was true, it only missed one thing. Love.
Loving the Kazekage was a risky decision. She had a two scars to prove that fact. Despite that, (Name) was glad she took that risk. The happiness she felt now is unrivalled. The feeling of waking up in the morning in Gaara's arms.. It made (Name) yearn it for an eternity.
(Name)'s eyes fluttered open the moment she felt a warm hand slowly stroking her cheek.
" Good morning." She immediately recognised it as Gaara's voice, and she sat up immediately. It was a bad choice, as she found herself groaning in pain a second later.
" Woah.. Easy there, " he blurted as he held her back. The moment (Name) laid her eyes on Gaara, the memories of yesterday came back and her eyes started to water.
" Gaara.." she whimpered, her vision slowly being clouded by tears. He quickly took her in his arms, noting that she was getting weaker, spiritually.
" The nurse.. She tried to kill me.. What did I do to her..? What is my fault? " she sobbed, her voice cracking up.
" Shh.. It's not your fault (Name).. You haven't done anything wrong.." he soothed, gently stroking her hair.
(Name)'s feelings were all mixed up, but sadness conquered the lot. Is it wrong to love him? Was she so disgusting that she didn't deserve to be with him? Did she deserves to die?
" (Name).. The Black Ops arrested Kamiko earlier this morning. The interrogation will be held later this evening. Well, you have to be there too," Gaara exclaimed.
(Name)'s eyes were lowered at the mention of Kamiko's name.
" I presume Suzuna will be there as well? "
Gaara simply nodded as an answer. He quickly sensed the fear in (Name)'s eyes. She had to be near with her almost-murderers afterall. He knew, (Name) was shocked at how many people wanted her dead.
First it was Kamiko, and then came Suzuna. The two girls were from the prestigious Oshiro clan, and (Name) was just a nobody. If it weren't for the fact that she was dating Gaara, the case would've already been closed for a certain sum of money.
Afterall, rich people can get away with anything. They just have to give away some cash.
" Let's go get some breakfast downstairs, hmm? You must be starving, " Gaara smiled, taking her hand.
Shaking off her bitter thoughts, (Name) nodded. She quickly averted her interest to blueberry scones and custard cheese tarts, desperately trying to forget the psychotic stalker with a kitchen knife and the insane nurse with a poisoned syringe.
After finishing the meal, (Name) sauntered there for a while, slowly sipping the remaining hot cocoa in her mug. Her stomach was full from the load of pancakes and pastries she ate earlier, yet she continued nibbling on a peppermint chocolate chip cookie.
Gaara and Kankurou were still eating, apparently their appetites were much larger than her own.
Kankurou stabbed the final bit of pancake with his fork and swallowed it immediately. He proceeded to wipe his mouth with a napkin and turned his attention to (Name).
" (Name). Do you know that you have to go to the police headquarters after this? It's concerning the Oshiro. "
(Name) nodded, her appetite slowly fading from the mention of the clan. " Yeah.. Gaara told me earlier."
" What has happened to you occurred numerous times before. It's just that the previous victims weren't just as lucky. They don't have their boyfriends running into the scene and save the day, " Kankurou grinned, trying to end it with a joke, but failed miserably. (Name) was horrified, thinking how she could easily be in a coffin right now instead of being here.
" You're lucky (Name). Most of Kamiko's victims didn't live to tell the tale. The cases are settled out of court. They died unjustly and in vain. They died just to satisfy the crazy bitch's bloodthirst and jealousy."
(Name)'s eyes lit up.
" Wait what? Jealousy?"
To that, she received a nod from Kankurou.
" But why? Why would she be jealous of me? Why would she be jealous of them?"
Kankurou lowered his eyes and inhaled deeply.
" Well.. Kamiko falls in love very easily, and she becomes insanely obsessed with the person. She'd stalk him, and do anything to get near him. She's really annoying, so you can guess they don't really like her. The thing is, Kamiko can't accept it if the guy is with another girl. If she can't have him , no one can have him. And you can imagine what happens next. "
" She kills them," (Name) murmured, fidgeting uncomfortably. Gaara grabbed her hand from under the table and squeezed it tightly.
" You're lucky to have Gaara, (Name). If he hadn't came for you.. Well, I don't even want to think what will happen."
The moment she set her foot out of the car, (Name) was bombarded by the media and paparazzi, some wanting information about the Oshiro, and some wanting sizzling content about her lovelife.
Everyone have their own different intentions.
" Is it true that Kamiko and Suzuna Oshiro will be imprisoned for life? "
" What is the theme of your wedding with the Kazekage? "
" How did the Council react to the announcement of your engagement? "
(Name) had no intention of answering any, and Gaara swept her away from the crowd and ushered her into the Police Headquarters. Inside, several officers were waiting to escort them to a special room where the interrogation will be held. (Name) lowered her head, feeling so tiny and pitiful compared to the high ranking officers in the building.
" Keep your head up, (Name). There's no need to be nervous. They're your people afterall, " Gaara whispered to her.
It was true. The Kazekage position was different compared to the other Kages. Firstly, it was hereditary. Only the ones sharing the same blood can become Kazekage. It was similar to a monarchical system - and the Kazekage is the king. Needless to be said, the Kazekage's wife is naturally the queen.
That was precisely what (Name) was. A queen.
The inside of the Interrogation Room had an unshakeable empty feeling, complete with the cold, bleak atmosphere. There were two sides of the room - one for the convict, and one for the officers. The only contact between both sides was through a glass window, to guarantee the safety of the interrogaters and witnesses. An office was connected to it, containing the usual office appliances.
The Suna officers bowed at Gaara and (Name), and one of them simply nodded.
" Itachi, thanks for coming, " Gaara exclaimed, returning the nod.
" Quite an interesting case here, Kazekage-sama . Who knew the Oshiro heir is a crazed psychopath... If it weren't for you, the world would've blind to her actions until the end of time, " Itachi replied, his eyes darting to the interrogation table.
Gaara smiled bitterly at those words. If word got out about the Oshiro, Suna's reputation would suffer for sure. Afterall, the Oshiro clan is one of the most distinguished clans in Suna. Their influence was almost as strong as the Kazekage clan itself.
Even Gaara was shocked about how Kamiko and Suzuna attacked (Name). He judged Kamiko as the bratty and materialistic rich girl, but in truth she was more than just that. She was insane.
And in Kankurou's case, his shock was tenfold of that of Gaara's. He couldn't help but wonder how he even dated Suzuna.
" Ah (Name), let me introduce him to you.
(Name), this is Uchiha Itachi, a member of the Konoha Black Ops. He's here to assist in the case, " Gaara voiced.
(Name) nodded, about to bow slightly, but quickly refrained after Gaara grabbed her waist.
" Wait.. Uchiha? Like Sasuke Uchiha? "she blurted. Itachi's eyes lit up. " Do you know my brother? " he answered with yet another question.
" Yeah, I've seen him several times. My friend's got a huuugeeee crush on him," she grinned.
" By any chance, is your friend's name is Sakura Haruno? " Itachi questioned. (Name) nodded as a reply.
" Don't worry, that crush is reciprocated. "
She felt a bright smile creeping up her face. (Name) knew well how much Sakura fancied Sasuke, and now that she found out the feeling is mutual, she couldn't help but be happy for the two.
" Well, the interrogation should start shortly. "
(Name) and Gaara were seated on one side of the room, staring blankly at the glass window. Several minutes later, Suzuna and Kamiko were brought out from their cells, and (Name) came face to face with the people who wanted her dead so badly.
Her face stiffened, and she unconsciously balled her fists. (Name) wasn't a saint. Deep down, she wanted the two girls in front of her to be sentenced with the maximum amount of punishment allowed by law.
" Kamiko Oshiro. Why did you attack (Name) (Surname)? " Itachi questioned, looking up from a file in his hands. On the other side of the window, Kamiko fidgeted, purposely avoiding his gaze.
" I repeat, why did you attack (Name) (Surname)? " he asked again, this time his voice raised an octave.
Again, Kamiko ignored him. She rolled her eyes and batted her eyelids as if she was dressed in a satin dress and had worn diamond studded jewellery - when in reality, she was wearing the awful orange inmate clothes, and instead of jewellery, she had handcuffs on.
" Kamiko Oshiro! " Itachi boomed, slamming the file on the table. This time, Kamiko finally looked at him.
" She..She took him away from me.." the blonde murmured, keeping the sapphire eyes of hers low.
Gaara's eyes were wide in outrage at Kamiko's words.
' Going on one arranged date doesn't make me yours! ' he mentally shouted.
" Took him away from you? " Itachi huffed, cringing slightly.
Kamiko nodded quickly. " If it were for her, I would've been married to the Kazekage! " she burst, nostrils flaring.
" That's all? You wanted to become the Kazekage's wife? What about your past flames? Are they all Kazekages? You attacked their partners all the same. The only thing that differentiates them from (Name) (Surname) is that they died."
" Whenever I like somebody, there's always another bitch that drags him away. It happens so often, I can't handle it.. " Kamiko voiced.
Itachi narrowed his eyes, flipping over to a new page of the file.
" And during middle school, you bullied your fellow classmates. Were they all bitches who dragged away your crushes? " he chuckled.
" They were annoying. "
That was Kamiko's answer. She slapped, kicked, and cut her classmates because they were annoying.
" Were they annoying, or are you just a psychopath? "
It was what everyone was suspecting all along. A psychopath.
" Every case was closed, thanks to the tradition of bribing the officers. Don't be surprised, the Black Ops had their eyes on the Oshiro clan all along. News break, being the heir of the Oshiro clan doesn't make you untouched by law. Well, congratulations. You might as well have ruined the entire clan."
That was precisely correct. Bribery, smuggling activities, black market, murder - the crimes committed by the Oshiro were outrageous. But no one knew.
Now, everything will be brought to light. The clan that they regarded so noble - the people will soon learn the truth about the clan.
" Really? What about evidence? " Kamiko huffed, clearly underestimating the military force.
" We have witnesses. Some of those who were forced to keep their mouth shut because of you.
(Name) (Surname) , one of the victims. Shizuku Ichijo, sister of victim Mari Ichijo.
Hiroshi Furutaka, tutor of victim Chie Amane. "
Itachi continued to list down the names, and the final one garnered (Name) and Gaara's attention.
" Song Chae-yeon, one of the bully victims. She was a transfer student from South Korea, and from I heard, you made her life a living hell. All these people are the witnesses, and for evidence.. Don't worry. We have loads of evidence. "
That time, Kamiko's face had pure horror written all over it. Even though the Chief Justice hasn't made his final verdict yet, everybody knew that for Kamiko, doom was no longer impending.
It was certain.
