Chapter Two

Welcome To The Hunt

The Olympian council all left each other to their own devices, flashing out of the throne room in blinding arrays of light, each a colour respective to their assumed domains. Their light reflected off of the golden embossed surfaces with a serene beauty as they each departed in eerie silence.

One by one they all disappeared until it was only Artemis sat in her throne with Perseus standing a few feet away, arms folded in casual anticipation for what the Goddess was going to do next. It was pretty clear to him that from the get go his challenge was going to be extremely painful.

"Come on Asgardian," Artemis beckoned him with a wave of her hand. She stepped away from her throne and began to rapidly shrink until she was about half his height, if that.

"The girls will be dying to meet you, and I must admit I am curious to find out more about an Asgardian Demigod." Artemis nodded slowly, already deep in thought.

"I literally just told you all that I'm not a Demigod." Perseus told her with a quick nonchalant shrug. He realized that if she really wanted to keep calling him a Demigod then there wasn't a whole lot he could do about it.

"I know, but you didn't actually explain what you are, so it will be simpler when we tell my hunters that you're a Norse Demigod, unless his highness has any smarter ideas?" she asked with an edge of sarcasm that was plain and present in her words.

"It's weird to hear that. I know you were mocking me, which is fine because you're a Goddess, but please don't ever actually say that. It's not me, not yet at least." he muttered in response, hoping that she'd at least do that much for him.

So far she'd shown herself to be at least willing to give Perseus a mutual respect which almost betrayed her tags of hating men. How hard could this challenge actually be if this was what passed as someone that hated all men?

"Hmm." she hummed to herself quickly, expression unchanged. "This will definitely prove to be an interesting time while you're with us." Artemis grinned evilly.

Perseus let out a breath that he'd been holding for quite some time. With each passing second it was clearer and clearer that his time serving with the Hunt was going to be mostly painful, at least to begin with.

"Well then, let us be off, I'd hate to keep my new patrons waiting." he smiled back, though most of the smile was forced. It seemed that Artemis registered this with amusement before she clicked her fingers and they were elsewhere once again.

The disorientation was intense just as it had been the first time but his body was starting to adapt to the forced relocation and it didn't stick around half as long as it had previously, that was a good sign that he wasn't going to be rendered to his knees forever when that happened.

He truthfully hoped that he wouldn't be subjected to it much more as it was a horrible way to travel in his opinion.

This time they materialized in a thick forest of healthy green trees that formed a great canopy above their heads. In the distance there was running water, a creek by the sounds of it.

That was probably going to annoy him if he didn't automatically tune it out soon. He could hear birds rustling in the distance, and small animals running around the undergrowth a few dozen yards away. The moonlight was strong tonight, shining through gaps in the canopy, illuminating the forest floor where it could.

Artemis led the way and soon enough they were back at an encampment surrounded by way more girls clad in silver than he'd initially seen. So only about half of them had accompanied the Goddess when they had tracked him down to that garage? That must have meant that the other half stayed as a defensive garrison for their campground.

As soon as they noticed him on approach to the perimeter they drew their bows at him, despite their Goddess being right beside him. Their disposition towards men was brutally unbalanced in favour of his challenge. The Goddess didn't seem to be an impossible task, but these girls were giving him the feeling that he wouldn't sway them.

"Girls, enough. A lot has transpired on Olympus and as it turns out, you'd be extremely foolish to take on this Demigod." Artemis told them, bluffing slightly to ensure that they didn't actually try to kill him.

While Artemis was sure that eventually they'd probably succeed in subduing Perseus, she knew that there would be losses and that would be too much for her heart to bear if she was able to avoid the bloodshed.

A few slacked their bows and let it go, the others were a little more hesitant. It was only when the girl with the spear came up to the pair of them that the others seemed to register it and relax to the point that Perseus wasn't going to be intentionally attacked for the time being.

"Milady, do we know who his parent is? Is he one of us?" Thalia asked frantically, a measure of excitement in her voice. She looked at him curiously. She'd seen that he'd been capable of wielding lightning so to her the possibility of a distant relation elevated her mood immensely.

She was a lot warmer towards him now than when they'd previously met where she'd been neutral and held mild intrigue towards him.

"No, it's far more complicated than that Thalia, I'd rather we told you all together. Gather everyone at the campfire." the Goddess told her in response.

The girl nodded and began to round up the others. Perseus looked extremely confused and Artemis noticed this. Usually she wouldn't bother to give him any advice for free but there was something about him that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

There seemed to be a unique sense of light in the boy that she'd not seen before. It was almost like she was trying to convince herself that perhaps Perseus could be the one to succeed with such a task, and maybe she'd make a unique friend in the Asgardian before her.

"A few ground rules. These girls have all come from horrible backgrounds, they've all suffered terribly at the hands of males and simply do not trust them, and they will not trust you. If you are to succeed in your task, you're going to have to earn the trust of every single hunter in my camp." Artemis folded her arms and had a smug look on her face. He only saw this as a chance to rise to the challenge and take it head on, by the horns, as was his way of life.

"I suspected as much, and I will respect that. I will protect anyone that has suffered at the hands of man, that very much includes your hunters Lady Artemis." he told her confidently.

Artemis had to admit, this male was already seemingly above the rest of them, he'd come her way and was still confident in his task, even though the odds were against him. Artemis had three thousand years of hating males, so what chance did this one have? True he was one of a kind in terms of heritage, but that changed nothing.

At the moment.

"Agreed, I will specifically tell them that you are not to be attacked. In the camp your job should be obvious. You're incredibly powerful and I think that if we train you to be a real hunter then as the Hunt we can start tracking down some very strong monsters. Your job just to clarify is to strengthen and protect my Hunt and keep the girls safe. If you do that well enough then we'll see where we are with your task." she told him, watching as his expression remained the same.

"If you're wondering why I am acting calmly around you so to speak, I do not like you by any means, nor do I like this preposterous task set by my father, but I do respect the strength that you have, and hope that you have a matching strength of character to boot. I do not believe that you will succeed on your task but I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to have someone such as yourself essentially guarding the Hunt. Now let's go and tell the girls." Artemis strutted off towards the fire that had been put up in the time that they had been talking. Perseus sighed and followed, hoping that he didn't get an arrow in the ass anytime soon.

An hour and a half later and everything had been covered, to his surprise the girls were more in awe of anything else. A Norse Demigod? They'd never considered the possibility that there was more out there than their own origins.

They were asking questions, most were whispering for some of the older hunters to be the ones to ask but that was ok, it was understandable that some of them would shy away from him. They wanted to know how he squared up in terms of strength to the Demigods that they knew.

"During our meeting, that banshee Aphrodite tried to charmspeak him." Artemis began, quickly cutting Perseus off when he'd looked puzzled as he didn't actually know any Demigods.

"He resisted, then she tried harder and administered her strongest level of charmspeak. He broke through it and rejected her from his head completely. She was so shocked that she shared with us that no mortal had ever done that before.

The boy has the mental strength and willpower rivalling that of Gods." Artemis explained calmly, not really having an opinion of the whispers that began to spread out amongst the girls.

This was all a very new concept for their whole world, she wasn't about to reprimand the girls for gossiping and chatting about it, especially when it was likely going to be what they were doing for the next few days anyway.

One of the older hunters, whose name Perseus hadn't actually heard, had stood up and approached them both from the other side of the fire, she had a quizzical look plastered over her face.

"With respect Lady Artemis, the boy has been set a nigh unachievable task. All of us joined the Hunt for reasons regarding males, what will we achieve by treating him as a part of the Hunt?" she asked.

He'd figured out from the context of a few of their words and questions that they all seemed to have joined the Hunt from different time periods, some of the older ones were actually a lot older despite looking like teenagers.

They were immortal, or half immortal as Artemis had told him, they would never age but they could be killed in battle. Artemis, a Goddess, was fully immortal meaning that she simply could not die, but there were ancient laws that could cause much worse damage.

Perseus sat somewhere in the middle, he could die in battle but he was entirely unconnected to the ancient laws that restricted the Gods of Olympus, something that he was sure would come in handy sooner or later.

"Because this was his challenge Phoebe, a challenge set by Zeus himself, you'd do well to remember that I am bound by this just as much as you are. I would appreciate it if you would all be civil with one another, I'm not asking you to buddy up and be best friends, I have my doubts about this challenge as well but that is what it is. If he shows any disrespect or hurt anyone then I will personally hand him over to Hades, and he knows this." Artemis announced, fully quelling anyone who would have further questions in line with Phoebe's.

"Which, despite it being my fate in question, from an outside perspective I would have fully agreed with, just so that we're all on the same page." Perseus commented after the silence had fallen upon them once again. The crackling of the fire was therapeutic but there was still much to be discussed and he needed to figure out all of his new duties.

"So how many different powers do you have? And do you have a weapon?" Thalia asked, she took to him a lot better than the others did, what with sharing a similar control over lightning. He considered this for a moment before he felt a slight tinge grow around him. Artemis was the only one who could also see this.

"See, it's funny you should mention that, I think I'm about to. Lady Artemis, the hunters need to stay clear, this could have the potential to cause some damage, I'm not sure just yet." he told the Goddess seriously as he backed up well away from the fire and the hunters, giving himself enough space for whatever was happening.

The aura only seemed to grow around him furiously. The girls could now clearly see it alongside Artemis who'd detected it at the same time as Perseus had.

'To he who should be worthy to wear the hide of Leviathan, should also be worthy to wield the power of Yggdrasil, gifted from the world tree itself.' a voice from the heavens boomed above them before a lightning bolt struck him dead on, engulfing him completely from head to toe before he no longer had to resist it, it naturally became a part of him.

After the dust and smoke had cleared he saw the piercing gaze of thirty something immortal girls and a Goddess, all staring in shocked silence as the scene before them unfolded.

"Percy you uh..." Was all Thalia managed before a stream of armour links began to actively burn away his clothes before weaving itself around his body.

Soon enough his regular clothes had been replaced by a gleaming suit of armour crafted from the hide of the Leviathan itself. The next thing that happened was an arrow of light struck the ground besides where he'd been standing but before the object in question struck the earth, he caught it and slammed it into the ground with added force.

Their world erupted into powerful tremors that caused even the hunters to have to actively focus on keeping their footing.

Everything came to a standstill and the world resumed at it's normal pace. "Awesome." he grinned before making his way back over to the group. The spear in his hands couldn't seem to decide what it wanted to be.

In that moment Odin's words seemed to make sense in his mind. The ever changing weapon, a gift from Yggdrasil itself. The tree of life had granted the wearer of the Leviathan's armour a weapon in the choice of whatever the wielder wished, which to him seemed open to abuse but he couldn't really imagine that there were many weapons like this in existence.

He only knew of three or four others that were made out of this material. As it turned out, it's quite difficult to forge weapons from the cores of dying stars.

"Did you call me Percy? Haven't been called that before." he muttered slightly as he walked back over to the fire, this time fully clad in armour. He was holding his new 'weapon', swinging it around his hand somewhat harmlessly, definitely mindlessly. Luckily it was sat in the form of a long pole with no offensive edge.

"Yeah, is that not short for Perseus? I thought it'd just be easier, definitely less formal as well." Thalia shrugged somewhat, not bothering for whether or not he preferred it.

"If you want formal then use his title. He's the son of the Asgardian King, which makes him the Prince of Asgard." Artemis told them, looking smug as she did. She couldn't help but smile as Percy slowly turned on his heel and deadpanned at her betrayal.

"Thank you, my Lady." he told her quietly, not caring for that title or the sarcastic mocking that it was no doubt going to bring his way. It was strange but being around the Gods in the throne room had recovered a lot of his memories.

Memories that had previously been blocked, kept as hazy gaps in his mind where he simply didn't know what had happened. He chalked it up to being around such concentrated sources of divinity, but the longer he stayed near Artemis the more of those mental blocks seemed to have lifted. It wouldn't be long before he remembered everything from his old life.

"But really, please don't. We're not in Asgard right now, so I'm totally not a Prince, right? Let's just stick with me being a normal-ish Demigod." he told them, a clear plea in his eyes for them to not use any honorifics for him.

He assumed that they wouldn't anyway, sheerly because they were likely to hate him from the get go and use any excuse to not respect him.

"Could you explain what just happened, as it was not very clear at all." Artemis asked him, pulling him back on track. She was intrigued by the fact that he'd seemingly been smitten from the sky only to then have been declared worthy enough to receive some armour and a weapon.

"Christmas came early." Percy told them, looking straight into the silver eyes of the Goddess with an animalistic toothy grin that had an effect of the silver eyed Goddess, a feeling that she'd not felt in many centuries. He'd gotten more brash almost immediately after coming into contact with these new toys of his.

"Ignoring how Christmas is a Christian construct, what is the point of getting a new weapon? Your axe looks to be in a perfectly good state of repair." Artemis pointed out, trying to shift her focus away from herself and what she was currently feeling. If she could preoccupy her mind then she could address the issue later in private, and just why the Hades that had come over her.

"Well, no, it's not." Percy told her without taking his eyes away from the solid staff, swinging it around to his heart's content, "It was appropriated from the Yule, which is a celebration in honour of the Wild Hunt, and my father, so it's perfectly acceptable for me to say it." he told her with a wicked grin splayed across his face.

"So, just to be totally clear about what just happened?" Artemis asked with wider eyes. She let the question hang in the air for a moment while Percy looked around, admiring his own armour, feeling the external surfaces of the chain links that folded around his body. He was clearly just as impressed with it as everyone else was.

The thought of it being just as much of a surprise to him seemed slightly strange to Artemis at first but as she thought about it she realized that it was the same as what most of the other Gods did for their children. Perhaps she was assuming their differences lied in everything?

The immediate thought going through a lot of their minds was how much damage that armour could take. Did it mean that with a new suit of armour he was able to be dealt far superior levels of harm than they would previously have been able to administer?

Sadistic thoughts ran through a few of their heads as to how they could find new ways to overcome this latest obstacle and deliver fresh pain to their latest punching bag. Of course Percy was totally oblivious to all of that as he was far too enamoured with checking himself out.

"I just got a few gifts from my father, that's all. The hide of Leviathan, slain by Odin and fashioned into this beautiful armour by Wayland, the God of the Forge, and this," He held up the pole of smooth dark grey metal that almost looked like it was liquid metal in his hands.

"-is a gift from the world tree itself. It's melded with the ancient soul of Yggdrasil, which I have a faint inkling of whom it once was. The weapon is forged from the heart of a dying star, only a few more weapons like it in existence. This is possibly the only one that has the ability to change form." Percy told them all before the weapon in his hand glimmered into a sword that curved outwards halfway through the blade before he slammed it into the ground.

Another lightning bolt came down and struck him but it seemed that it had no effect on the Asgardian. He stood once again, the sword morphed back into what seemed like a spear.

It was a glimmering metal that Artemis didn't recognize as being Olympian in origin. When he said that it was forged with the heart of a dying star, did he mean that it was just super dense carbon atoms all bonded together or that it had literally been forged by the heat of that star? It seemed fairly far fetched even to her, but here it was, something that she simply couldn't identify so there had to be some truth to it.

"Well that's really something. So what does that make you, the prince of the universe?" Thalia asked once again, this time she showed absolutely no resentment towards Percy but excitement for him to be with the Hunt.

Artemis couldn't believe it, already her lieutenant was showing acceptance of him and it had been less than two hours. It was remarkable, granted Thalia was probably the one most likely to turn around and accept him anyway as her entrance to the Hunt had been under rather extenuating circumstances in the first place, but still, that kind of time frame was definitely impressive.

"No, like I said, if we were in Asgard then I would of course be a Prince, but otherwise just Percy or Perseus will be fine. Either way I've taken enough of your time. Lady Artemis?" Percy told them before standing slightly away from the fire.

Artemis couldn't believe how casual and calm Percy was taking the entire situation. He likely didn't realize the amount of physical abuse that was heading his way, whether backed by ill intention or not. The looks on many of their faces seemed to only back up Artemis' suspicions. They were seeing him as a new, very dangerous type of prey. One that Artemis wasn't convinced that they would be able to take on.

"That about wraps things up here. Like I said, Perseus is an exception to our rules about males, no purposely attacking him, I'm not entirely sure how well the outcome from a rash decision would be, but he is a very level headed individual who has already gone out of his way to show me a respect that I have not come to expect from some of my patrons, so try not to disrespect each other in the time that he's here and I'm sure we'll all be able to get along quite well. In the morning we've got a special training session planned. And Perseus here has volunteered himself to be a dummy." Artemis smiled evilly.

"Percy." Percy muttered under his breath, already appreciating the shortened version of the name. Only the Goddess noticed this but she said nothing. He'd noticed that she'd managed to get it right a few times but seemingly resorting back to the formal version.

He didn't mind her calling him Perseus, he just for some reason quite enjoyed her being more informal with him. He casually looked over at the Goddess with a face that seemed to portray fascination with the deity, not malice or ill will for her basically throwing him to the wolves that were her huntresses, but rather sheer interest in who she seemed to be behind the legends he knew.

The girls all cheered at the revelation that in the morning they'd all have their chance to try and throw a beatdown his way. They cleared the camp up before those who weren't watching the perimeter overnight decided to go to bed and get as much rest in as possible, they knew that it was going to be a long day, and they were all going to give it their best shot at taking him down or causing as much damage as possible.

Meanwhile Percy decided to go and find a suitable spot to claim as his own. Ten minutes later and he'd settled on creating an elevated pitch for a shelter next to the creek. He had picked out a lofty embrace within two trees on which he'd hung several canopies of leaves.

A faint rustle somewhere below him made him aware of the godly presence nearby. At first he didn't make any kind of movement that would suggest to her that he could tell she was there, he wanted to see what she would do if she believed stealth to be in her hands.

She knew all too well that someone like him would have heard or felt her coming towards him, she wasn't trying hard enough to hide her footsteps for him to have genuinely not noticed her approach.

Not that she particularly knew the extent of his senses.

This Asgardian was a whole new level of unexplored territory.

"Percy." he heard Artemis' voice call out. He stopped fiddling with the layers of leaves that he was weaving a fresh canopy out of and simply craned his head enough for Artemis to be able to see his gleaming platinum eyes.

They were powerful enough to make a mortal woman swoon. His eyes alone held a power that Apollo would ruin the world with, irreparably changing the gene pool of the population to be filled with Half Bloods.

She said nothing to him but she held her expectant look so he decided to drop down gracefully, landing next to her with a soft thud.

"Yes milady." he said with a deep bow. He couldn't see it, but the bow had caused Artemis to faintly smile, but she knew to let it go before he saw. He'd feel far too smug to know that the Goddess had already smiled because of him, he might get funny ideas about the likelihood of actually completing his impossible task.

What was the likelihood of him achieving success?

She'd been bowed to before, it was customary to be bowed to, she was a Goddess after all. It wasn't the fact of the formality that had actually made her smile, it was the fact that it was him, the Asgardian Prince, that was bowing to her with no inclination necessary, he simply recognized that she was someone to bow to.

"I want to train with you for a little bit so that I know your skills myself before I plunge you into the deep end with the girls. If I know what you're capable of, I can gauge a training exercise that will test both you and my hunters. First things first, archery." Artemis told him.

She immediately noticed that he'd subconsciously backed up and paled slightly. A look of constrained fear and mild resentment flitted across his face before it was replaced with a look of lax fear.

So he didn't like archery.

Not a great start considering that she was one of the famed twin archers.

"But I can't shoot. Like, I really can't shoot. I'd be more accurate throwing a spear over a hundred meters than I would be shooting an arrow a dozen feet." he argued, but he sighed when the stern look on the Goddess' face told him that he wasn't going to get out of it as easily as that. Archery it was.

Artemis herself pulled out a silver bow with a wooden grip. It had ornate embroidery running the full length of the bow, intertwining at the tips with where the silver string was held. It was a beautiful show of craftsmanship and it deeply fitted the profile of the moon Goddess.

They followed the creek downstream until they came to a more secluded part of the forest. The sounds of nature became more prominent the further away from the camp they got.

In that moment he wondered whether or not she was leading him to a secluded part of the forest so that she could murder him and bury his body... No, that wouldn't work, she likely knew that he could go nuclear and rain lightning down upon most of the forest... Probably.

Because of this ridiculous challenge that Zeus had bestowed upon them, Artemis found herself alone in the company of a male with a weapon in both of their hands and as of yet she hadn't killed him. This wasn't doing well for her reputation.

"The tree over there, I want you to pin this target on it." she said, holding up a circular wooden target that had a red circle crudely painted on it. It had flecks of fresh paint on it that could easily be scraped away to show what was likely months of hard target practice. It looked like it had once even experienced bullet holes judging by the fractures in the wood.

"Where did you get that? I didn't notice you carrying it." he said with confusion before he accepted the wooden board and made his way over to the tree, trudging through the crisp leaves that had fallen from the trees. It was strange because it was damn near the height of summer, there probably shouldn't have been that many leaves around.

"I conjured it up. It was made a few days ago, stop asking questions. We've only got all night before you need to be rested enough to dodge arrows flying at terminal velocity." Artemis quipped with a smirk. Great, he thought to himself, his working day was going to be so much fun now.

"Terminal velocity doesn't mean much if you're capable of hauling an arrow into orbit. Can your hunters do that?" he asked with a single raised brow. He enjoyed the silence that he received in answer to his question before walking back over to her with an amused smile on show.

It might not have been anything to her but to him it was the smallest inclination that she might just be capable of giving him some banterous jests in his time with the Hunt. Once the target was pinned he returned.

"Where is your bow and arrows?" Artemis asked him incredulously. Pulling her own bow into her hands. The twelve year old was showing him up badly.

He grunted before shaking his spear in an odd way before it melded into glimmering metal before expanding outwards forming a beautiful bow.

"What metal is your weapon made from Perseus?" she asked him curiously, taking sight of it for the first time in its raw element. She truly had no idea how to even begin to describe the shifting weapon.

"I don't think it's made out of any metal. The weapon is a manifestation of Yggdrasil, the tree of life. You are welcome to try to hold it but before I would hand it to you, it should be placed on the ground. Any who are unworthy simply cannot carry it and would be crushed under its weight, ugh, not saying that you are unworthy but Yggdrasil is particularly picky." Percy told her. The Goddess went wide eyed.

"Really? How much does it weigh?" she asked stupidly before trying to pick up the bow. It was evident that after a few moments, she simply could not pick it up. Spending more time would be futile.

She felt her grip close around the bow and the weight of it intensified around her fingers as she put more pressure into trying to lift it off of the ground. Never in her life had she ever been labelled as unworthy but this was a weapon made for a Viking Prince, she didn't mind not being worthy by the standard.

Was her perception of Vikings even correct? The boy was nothing short of outstanding so far...

"I truly do not know. Probably about three hundred billion tonnes. That seems to be around the range of power it beholds." Percy explained before picking the bow up with one hand.

"Anyway, onto the archery. Prepare to be shocked, I don't expect to ever be using this bow again just so you realize the gravity of how bad I am." he explained to the Goddess who sighed.

He pulled back the string on his bow and before Artemis could stop him because his stance was all wrong, the legendary weapon fired and a lightning fuelled arrowhead soared into orbit way above them, narrowly missing blowing up the moon.

"Yeah, no, turn that thing back." Artemis demanded straight away. It was evident that if he was able to miss an un-moving ground target and nearly hit the moon instead, that he should never practice with something that powerful before learning at least the basics.

The heat of anxiety had reached her face as the realization of just how powerful this boy could actually be, had hit her. It was astounding, the sheer potential of the Asgardian Prince was dizzying.

She had no doubts that if, if in some crazy world he managed to succeed with getting the Hunt to not only like him but trust him, he would be an extremely powerful man.

"You didn't have to fling it into space with lightning either." Artemis scolded him casually, watching through eagle eyes as the bow morphed back into a perfectly smooth pole of apparent destruction.

She couldn't help but be fascinated by it all. She knew of stories that originated from the northern lands towards the end of the Roman Empire when Diana had been roaming the lands she'd come to know as Europe.

She never expected there to be any truth to these Norse Gods. But... Here they were, or at the very least here he was. Was he even really a Demigod? All they knew was that he was the Son of Odin and that he was quickly showing them all that he was extremely powerful.

If that was the standard for Norse Demigods then Artemis was truly thankful that the two of them had never clashed with one another in the past, she feared that the children of Olympus might have been thrashed under the Viking might.

Perhaps not with an army of Spartans...

"I refuse to let you be that much of an accidental threat to everything around you. From now on you are not to unleash that weapon's true destructive capabilities unless yourself or my girls are under a genuine threat. And you are never to turn that into a bow unless I give you express permission." Artemis told him with a stern flash in her bright silver eyes. Percy understood the gravity of what she was telling him but gave her a well natured smile and nodded in agreement.

"You'll train with myself or Thalia exclusively and you will use a basic training bow that we will provide you with. We will spend a few hours each day working on your form and the basics of archery. If you progress at the rate that I expect you will then it won't be long before you're shooting arrows with the best of us." Artemis admitted slowly. Her eyes were intent and focused, trained on trying to perceive him at his very core. It was like she was talking through him rather than at him.

"No problem but I think that archery may well just be the one thing that I suck at and never get a basic understanding of." Percy answered with a shrug, retrieving Artemis' wooden target from the tree.

"Actually... Do you mind if I play around with this for a bit?" Percy asked, holding up the wooden target. Artemis nodded silently, watching as he put the target back on the tree and walked back over to where they'd been standing with the bow previously.

Percy morphed his weapon into a beautiful, gleaming platinum axe that he immediately pelted at the tree two dozen feet away. The power behind his throw and the apparent unfathomable weight in the weapon collided with the poor tree and decimated it right down to a stump studded with fractures of wood.

"Hmm, maybe I'll get Thalia to teach you how to hold back on an attack tomorrow after your thrashing." Artemis smirked at him. Percy groaned, trudging down the hill to fetch his weapon of mass destruction before they made their way back up the creek and the hunter encampment.
