Was it acceptable for a bunch of adults to be drinking excessively in a waterpark? Probably not but it didn't stop them.
"This isn't a place to be daydrinking fam" Jj observed the group who sat closest to the slides.
He'd finally moved from lounging on the sun beds to socialise with the other group, most of them already dispersing from him to find something to do.
"Listen lad, every time there's an opportunity for me get shit faced, I'm taking it" Harry replied, his glass hoisted in the palm of his hand.
Everyone who had met Harry had always questioned his inability to hold a glass properly, but he'd never conformed to changing his ways. He still held it like an idiot regardless.
"You finally found a partner to go up there with you?" Jj asked referring to the slide.
"I did, it's not even scary, Jj you're a bitch" Addelyn commented bravely.
She was past tipsy at this point, her words escaped without thought and she was finding herself laughing at the most boring things. A pigeon had flown past her before and she'd found it hilarious, it was rather embarrassing on her behalf.
"No, Harry's just fat man. I was scared he was going to squish me or somet"
It wasn't unfamiliar that the boys used slang, you'd expect being so popular they'd at least try smarten up their language but nope. They were still common as hell.
"He's not fat" Addelyn retorted her hand instantly reaching for his thigh.
Harry gulped at the sudden gesture, she was acting Ballsy, really ballsy infact and he didn't know how to respond to it.
He was clearly more sober than her at this point, him having a higher alcohol tolerance and he was left divided.
He didn't necessarily want to move her hand, he'd quite enjoyed the physical intimacy she'd given him through the day but if he didn't call an end to it soon, how far would it actually go?
"Erm. You're crushing my knee lad" he muttered peeling her fingers from his clammy skin.
Yet again, she looked hurt by his comment. He was just a king at fucking shit up. It seemed like his speciality.
"That's basically like calling my hand fat or something" she whined standing up from her seat "I'm finding something to do"
Her tone seemed bitter and it was clear to everyone, even Harry himself that she was offended.
"Reckon you should go after her bog, I know a pissed off chick when I see one" Freezy sighed placing his drink down on the table.
"Nah bro. It's too warm to be chasing girls across water parks. fuck off"
It wasn't like his reasoning wasn't acceptable, if anything he didn't have to chase after her, she chose to be offended by a comment that wasn't necessarily even offensive in the first place.
Addelyn found herself stumbling a lot more than she had hoped to. It was just her luck to storm off when she was in such a state.
A sudden urge to vomit had risen and before even seconds later she was hurled over the closest bin. If anyone had seen this, they'd never let her live it down but luckily with a scan of the area not many people were around, not that she knew personally at least.
"You alright there love?"
She hadn't heard that voice before and her head whipped in his direction, her head spinning too much for her liking leaving her head in the bin once again.
So much for first impressions.
"Come here" his tone was soft as she felt a hand scrape the remains of her hair behind her head.
She was too far gone to complain at the invasion of personal space instead gratefully taking the support, heaving once again.
It had taken her a fair few minutes to recover, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand before finally taking a look at the person who'd been of assistance.
The boy looked around his mid 20's, his eyes hazel and his hair a shaggy shade of blonde. It was closer to brown if anything but the sun had its effect.
He was attractive to her acknowledgement. She'd half expected him to look like a creep but she was pleasantly surprised when he didn't.
"Sorry about that" she apologised horrified at her actions moments ago.
It was like all alcohol that she had consumed prior to being sick didn't even exist, like she'd had a deep clean.
Now sober, she seemed more horrified than ever. Especially knowing a random had just held back her hair after throwing up.
"It's fine love, we've all been there" he laughed.
His accent wasn't anything like her own, it was clear he was Irish from the get go.
"So, what's your reason for day drinking" he asked her seriously "rough day?"
"Just no better time than the present" she told him casually.
Of course the conversation had now attracted some attention from her peers. Moments ago they'd seen their friends in a bin and now she was talking to a random, this seemed out of sorts even for Addelyn.
"Ey up beautiful, finally got your head out the bin" Freezy was the first one to intervene in the conversation, sensing Harry's frustration purely by his tensed knuckles and frown as they spoke.
"What's up freezy" she kept her head low.
She was completely embarrassed by her actions after she'd stormed off from Harry. Why was so she so temperamental?
"Just wondering if you were coming back to us anytime soon, bogs missing ya"
"Oh shit, I didn't realise you were taken" The mans eyes widened at the comment.
"Ahh, I see. You trying to pork my friend over here lad, I don't blame you fella. unfortunately she's off the market" Freezy muttered quite confidently, an obvious twinge of sarcasm.
"No im not?" Addelyn argued back.
Who were they to determine who she spoke to? The guy was just being friendly.
"Yep, you are. Let's go"
And within seconds Freezy had her by the wrist sprinting at full speed giving her no other opportunity than to follow.
"That wasn't on cal what the actual fuck" she hissed "he was helping because I was throwing up, not trying to hump me fuck sake"
"You could see it in his eyes" he held his fingers in front of her face "they're porking eyes"
"Oh shut up"
"Leave her to it man, she can talk to whoever she wants" Harry spoke quietly.
The comment came out a lot more defeated than he wanted it to, like he was salty about it when in reality that's exactly what he was.
"Harold, listen to yourself for one fucking minute lad, she's been all over you all day and you've pushed her off you. Admit you fancy the fuck out of her and crack on but don't do this I'll pretend I'm a nice guy act because it's not fucking you"
Freezys comment had left more than one person startled, Infact the whole group was now silenced by it, Freya joining the conversation, putting her hands on the back of Addelyn's shoulders.
"Mate I beg you just leave it alone, I've not got the head for this right now" Harry begged.
He seemed genuinely affected by the comment and so did Addelyn.
"I think you two should go for a walk or something" Freya pushed Addelyn forward.
"No. I don't wanna go for no fucking walk. Cal's right, don't all you guys try stop me from talking to people on his behalf when he makes no effort his self, it's a fucking joke" she shouted back at Freya.
It's like she'd forgotten moments previous they'd shared quite an intimate moment and kissed.
Was this really how it was going to be? The two of them causing friction between the group because neither of them were less proud than the other to make their move.
"Bit harsh that lad" Jj commented back an obvious attempt at trying to back his friend.
"Nah bro, leave it. She's right. I don't" Harry shook his head "sorry though, I can see why you're getting so pissed off over it. You'll know what I mean but what happened. I promise I meant it, I wasn't fucking with your head or anything. It was serious"
He looked so lost and hopeful in the moment that she'd understand what he meant and accept that was his attempt at making his move but instead she just shook her head.
"I don't wanna talk about it, I'm going back to the villa"
"I'll come with you" Talia offered.
"Don't ruin your day over something as silly as this" she smiled "I'll see you back there babe"
No one made an attempt to follow her, no one other than JJ.
He seemed like the only one reasonable enough to be non biased about the situation. He wasn't completely pally with Harry himself so he'd have a fair opinion and he knew this aswell as the others.
"Make sure she's alright please" Harry asked him grabbing the glass from the table once again "I'm getting shit faced. I can't be bothered anymore"
"I'll join you haroldinho" Freezy sat down patting his shoulder.
Addelyn was enraged, by her own emotions, by Harry's admittance, by Freezy interfering like that, everything really.
"Ay Addz, come on now. Please don't make me run fam I'm boiling" Jj panted catching up to her.
She was on the corner of the park now, waiting for an Uber as he approached her.
"I know you're just going to big Harry up and say he's great and he did nothing wrong so please leave it JJ" she begged.
"I was only going to say at least give him a chance man" he sighed "I don't sometimes like him but he's got a good heart and Kate was a douche to him man, she really hurt him"
"This isn't a guilt trip" she snapped "it isn't my responsibility to fix that"
"I never said it was"
"Then leave it alone"
And that was the conversation between the two. Tense and non rewarding.
