Steele
Before he'd even pressed the button, I shook my head and ran from the room. I could feel the warm tears running down my face, blurring my vision as the whites of the walls and floor started to blend together
"Sir!" A nurse gasped as I ran past, the tray she was carrying clattering to the ground; I didn't stop. I couldn't. I finally made it to my goal; the rooftop garden area. It was meant to "bring joy to patients and their visitors" but it didn't do much. All it was a cluster of pots clogging the space of the roof
"I hate to say this, but I told you so." A mocking voice chuckled from behind me. My fists clenched, and my blood ran hot
"Go to hell." I hissed, not turning around as I leaned against the cement baracade
"So you've let yourself go, all for that girl...and she dies. Perfectly cliché don't you think?" He continued. I could hear his shoes bounce against the roof
"What's your problem, man?!" I snarled, spinning around to face him
"You don't really think that girl was perfect did you? I mean, she was really nothing but a whore." He grinned, seeming to know exactly what to say to piss me off
"She was nothing close to a whore." I growled, trying to keep from hitting him. His smile was sadistic, like he enjoyed causing people pain
"You know the best part about all this though?" He asked, tucking his hands into his pockets. I didn't answer, and he took it as a silent invitation to continue "Out of the two of us, I know I'm the only one who's fucked her." He grinned, looking like a humanoid version of the cheshire cat
"Excuse me?" I questioned, my internal temperature rising a few degrees more
"Yeah. She's good too, you know. She's got that whole 'innocent' thing down to perfection. And those hips....Jesus what she can do with those hips. But you wouldn't know that.... Would you Steele?" He taunted, taking a step closer
"What the hell are you on about?!" I snapped, trying my damnedest to keep my temper under control; although I could feel his words eating away at my patience and self restraint
"Honestly, that prick David and I are probably the only two who know what it feels like to be inside he-" he was cut off abruptly, my knuckles trying to plow right through his front teeth
"You son of a bitch!" I snarled, watching as he touched his mouth, his finger coated in blood when he pulled them back
"Bastard!" The doctor snapped, lunging forward and landing an uppercut to my jaw, managing to knock me back a step. Without stopping to see how much pain there was in my jaw, I reacted. I threw jab after jab, some connecting with decent force, others glancing off his blocks
"YOU SADISTIC MOTHER FUCKER!" I bellowed, smashing my fist into his nose, feeling the satisfying feeling of bone and cartilage cracking beneath my knuckles
"YOU PRICK!" the doctor snapped, touching his face as he stumbled back
"DONT YOU DARE TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" I continued, lunging towards him, hitting him in the jaw. My knuckles split again on contact, but the stinging in my hand was nothing compared to the anger I was feeling at this moment. I jumped on him, continuing to smash my knuckles against his face, yelling insults as he attempted to block my assault
"Steele!" I heard a voice shout before I was grabbed by the back of my shirt and ripped off the doctor
"LET ME GO! I SWEAR TO GOD I'LL KILL HIM!" I shouted, trying to escape the iron vice on my arm
"Settle down, son." George's deep voice rumbled, physically shaking me from my rage. I became quiet as the doctor stood up, wiping the blood from his face
"Ahh, George Jobins...I haven't seen you in what? Three.....four years?" He chuckled, wincing at, what I assume was the pain that flashed through his face
"Has it? I guess time flies when your daughters finally happy." George mumbled, his back straitening
"She was happy with me." The doctor chuckled, rubbing his jaw gently
"Until she found out you were cheating on her, with her best friend non the less." George snapped, dropping my arm
"I didn't cheat on her!" He denied, stepping towards George as if they were equally matched
"SO SHOVING YOUR DICK INTO HER BESTFRIEND, ASWELL AS COUNTLESS OTHER WHORES, ISNT CHEATING?!" George snarled, grabbing the young doctor by the shirt and lifting him off the ground
"I WAS DRUNK!" he yelled back, as if a 250+ man didn't have him two feet off the ground
"AND THAT WAS YOUR CHOICE! JUST LIKE ITS WAS ACES CHOICE TO KICK YOUR SORRY ASS TO THE CURB!" George raged, shaking him roughly
"Uh...can someone clear things up here...? We have no idea what's going on..." Luke mumbled, as he, River, and Josh peeked out from behind George
"You mean you don't know?" The doctor smirked, Georges face hardening "Well then let me introduce myself. My names Khyle Christan, holder of every first Ace ever had." He smirked down at me. So this was the bastard who cheated on her first
"Oh...I've heard about you. She told me she thought that HIV had gotten you." I told him, smiling 'kindly', George and the others trying to hide their smiles
"You wanna know, or talk about something you don't know shit about?" Khyle growled, glaring down at me from where George still had him held two feet off the ground "Mind putting me down George." He added, glaring down at the older man
"My pleasure." George grinned, dropping him
"Dumbass." River sniggered, watching as Khyle landed on his ass
"So, what's the back story here?" Luke questioned, raising an eyebrow
"I dunno...you not knowing's kinda funny..." He chuckled, glancing at me with a grin as he stood up
"Talk or I'll beat your scrawny ass." Josh snarled, stepping around Luke
"Are all of you this testy? Or have I simply hit a bad day?" Khyle grinned, crossing his arms. Without warning, Joshs' fist snapped out, catching him in the jaw
"All of you are this testy, got it. From the beginning I suppose?" He questioned, rotating his jaw as he stood back up
"What did Ace ever see in you? Your a fucking tooth pick!" River asked, crossing his arms and leaning on the barricade next to me
"Fuck you." Kyle snapped, glaring at River who simply grinned "Anyways, Ace and I started dating when she was finishing up grade 9, I was graduating that year. We dated for about 4, maybe 5 months before she finally opened her legs for me, but she wasn't the put out all the time type girl I usually went with, so it was difficult. At a party my friend was holding, I left her to go get a drink, ended up smoking a roach with a few buddies, and on my way back, I ran into one of Ace's slutty friends, and well...things escalated. I was off my ass, and had no idea what I was doing, but Ace freaked, walked home and didn't talk to me for damn near a month before I finally managed to corner her. She screamed, yelled, blackened my eye and fattened my lip. I left for medical school that fall and just got back....three months ago, I've actually been trying to talk to her since then, but she wouldn't have it; now I know why." He concluded, glaring at me
"So you cheat...but you still 'love' her." Josh tacked on, using his fingers to make those bunny ear/sarcastic quotation mark things people do
"Go to hell." Khyle glared, shoving off the wall he'd been leaning on "But I don't think any of that matters now, does it? I mean Ace is dead, and knowing our past isn't gonna change that. The only definate thing at this point is she never loved you enough to give you any. Now, if you'll excuse me, I best be off." He sniggered, walking past Luke, stopping in front of me and chuckling some more
"Oh, Khyle." George called after him
"What?" He sighed, turning to look at the older man
"This is something I never got to do." George growled, socking Khyle in the face. Khyle flew backwards, landing on the ground with a groan, and he didn't make a move to stand up again
"Let's go boys." George grumbled, resting a hand on my shoulder as he walked past me. We started down the hall, back towards Aces room. It was like an endless maze if white, but sadly, I seemed to know my way around all too well
"PAPA JOBINS! STEELE!" an excited voice screamed from around the corner in front of us, just as Lexi came flying around the corner, running into Josh and nearly falling to the floor
"Lexi, honey, what's wrong?!" George asked, looking at her in alarm
"It-its Ace! Come see!" She cried, dragging all of us back to the room
"No...." George whispered, our eyes filling with tears
"Yes!" Kelly cried, wrapping her arms around George's waist as Kira ran up to River and jumped on him, and Sarah ran up to Luke and jerked his lips to hers as the steady beep of the heart monitor filled the remaining silence.
