x. on hands and knees

forgive me if there are nights
i feel like a refugee camp in the
middle of a third world country.
forgive me if when you kiss me
my lips are a cesspool of broken
promises and dreams. forgive me
if you find my body curled up on
the bathroom floor as i weep out
the indiscretions i wear so proudly.
forgive me if i have become too
much for you. forgive me if i was
never enough for you. i don't know
how to be anything else.
