i wake up the next morning and find chris's button down on the floor. i decide to throw it on over my bra and underwear and i walk downstairs. i scrunch up my hair to attack an itch on my scalp.
me: good morning scott
his face was buried deep in his eggs before he looks up at me. his eyes grow big and he quickly turns away and laughs
me: what?
scott: what are you wearing!
me: boy, are you not gay?
scott: i am but still!! he laughs
me: calm your pants big boy. where's chris?
scott: he's-
the door opens and i see chris holding a bunch of groceries. he looks at me doe eyed as i get out the apple juice from the fridge. he drops the white plastic bags on the counter and runs over to wrap his hands around my waist.
chris: what are you wearing
me: your shirt
chris: yeah and it's very cute just not around my brother he kisses my cheek
me: okay you are so overreacting! i laugh and rip his arms away from me
i close the fridge and open the pantry the get out a bagel. i pop it in the toaster and pour myself a glass of apple juice. chris sits at the counter next to scott and we all talk about tonight.
chris: what time did mom want us over
scott: she said 4 ish
me: what do i even wear to this sort of thing i say placing my hand on the counter and leaning my hips back, crossing a leg over the other
scott: nothing too fancy i mean just some sweats
me: okay not that i wouldn't love to wear sweatpants i cannot wear that to meet my boyfriends family
chris: like he said, just nothing too fancy
*pop*
i quickly get my bagel out of the toaster and i remember this thing alex used to always make for me.
me: hey do you have anyone cinnamon sugar?
scott: uhhh i should
he gets up out of his chair and tosses me a small container of cinnamon sugar. i start to spread some butter on my bagel and i sprinkle the delicious powder on top, making a slight mess on the paper plate.
chris: what are you doing?
me: just try it
chris: i-
before he can get out a sentence i stick the bagel in his mouth. he takes a bite and i take my breakfast back. he lets out a mmm!
me: i know right!
i sit next to chris and enjoy my meal with my glass of juice and chris holds my exposed thigh. i finish up eating and spend the whole day lazy. i throw on some leggings and an old BU sweatshirt. i put on some cute nikes, grab my phone and run downstairs.
we drive and drive until we parallel park outside what i can only assume is chris and scott's childhood home. i let out a deep breathe and get out of the car. chris places his hand on the small of my back before he gives a knock on the door. an older woman opens the door.
chris and scott: ma! both their boston accents come out
lisa: oh boys come here! i missed you she hugs both of them separately
chris: ma this is y/n
lisa: hi! it's so nice to meet you she hugs me. i hug her back
me: you too ms evans!
lisa: please, call me lisa. come in!
she invites us inside and i see two woman with what looked like their husbands. a bunch of kids come running around scott and chris's legs. they looked to be anywhere around 7 to 10 years old. they were all saying uncle chris! and uncle scott! one of the kids questions me
boy: who's she?
chris: kids this is y/n, my girlfriend
all the kids go oOoOoO!! and i blush and introduce myself. the kids names where ben, noah, james, amelia, and ana. she made it very clear it was ana, not anna. i bend down to their level
me: hey guys!
amelia: you're really pretty she says swinging her torso around
me: oh my gosh thank you! i move the hair out of my face and smile but look at you! gorgeous girl
ana: what about me? she asks excitedly
me: you are very gorgeous too! and you boys, so handsome!!
they all smile and amelia attacks me with a hug. the rest of the kids follow and i almost fall over. i stand up and introduce myself to the rest of the family.
i meet carly and her husband mike, and shauna and her husband steve. steve seemed a little standoff-ish but he kept looking me up and down. i get a little uncomfortable and we all sit on the couch and i get to know them. chris, scott, mike, and steve were very into the football game on the screen.
carly: so boston university? did you got there?
me: yeah i actually grew up like an hour from here
shauna: small world!
me: yea!
we continue to make some small talk and ben, one of the kids on the younger side, runs up to me and starts patting my thighs.
ben: y/n will you come play hide and seek with us?
carly: oh ben-
me: oh don't worry about it. ben it would be an honor
he gives me that cute little kid smile and grabs my hand before dragging me out to this beautiful backyard. it was massive and had a bunch of trees and bushes to hide behind.
me: alright who's it i place my hands on my hips
james: you!
me: what! how is that fair!!
noah: rules of the game he shrugs his shoulders and curls his lips in with a smile. i could tell he was the mature one but he was still just a kid.
ana: i'll be it with you!
me: well there's three girls and three boys let's make this boys against girls!
amelia: okie!
we all start counting in sync and we close ours eyes. 1...2...3...
we get to 30 and open our eyes. come on guys let's go find em!
we start looking around all the trees and we find 2 out of the three boys. hah! gotcha i say turning the corner of a tree and finding james. he giggles and tries to run off but i catch him in his tracks and pick him up. he giggles and kicks his legs until i set him down with all the other kids.
noah: what's your job y/n
me: well i'm an actress like your uncles
ana: that's so cool! what have you act in?
me: well did you guys watch that new tangled live action!
all the kids say yes and i tell them i played rapunzel and they all gasp.
amelia: so uncle chris is dating a princess?
me: you could say that
amelia: how'd he pull that one off?
i laugh with the kids and we play a few more rounds of hide and seek before chris and scott come running outside.
chris: hey why don't you go inside we got it
me: okay!
ana: kiss kiss kiss!!
chris: oh ana come on-
ben: what you can't kiss your girlfriend! she's pretty!!
chris: oh what are you trying to take my girl mr man?
ben: no!! he giggles before chris sweeps him off his feet and runs around with him.
i watch for a second before i make my way back inside. i sit with carly, shauna, and mike for a minute and find out we are all pretty similar! steve is no where to be found though.
me: hey where's the bathroom?
carly: oh all the way down that hall to the right
me: thank you!
i stand up and make my way down the hall. i hear a man on the phone.
steve: baby i'm almost done here i promise i get to see your pretty face soon
