Immediately I opened my eyes, I was warmly greeted by the rays of sunlight coming from my bedroom window. I stretch a little on my bed and sleepily make my way to the bathroom...
I hate Mondays sometimes.
When I'm done with my business in the bathroom, i walk out and I look at the time its 8 o'clock I still have time, we open by 9 but employees get there by 8:30am. I walk to my closet and start looking for something comfortable to wear. I decide to just put on a black pair of jeans, matching it with a pink top and a small jacket.
When I got to the diner, it was already past 9 but Mrs Vera's car wasn't in the drive way, meaning she hadn't come yet, that's odd.
As I walk into the diner I see April, she's very pretty with her light brown hair and big brown eyes. She's one of the few people that are kinda close to me.
"Good morning April" she turns around from the table she was cleaning
"Hey Cassie" she walks over to counter and I follow her
"Um..do you know where Miss Vera is? I didn't see her car in the driveway." Pointing towards the driveway to emphasize my point
"I didn't meet her when I came either so I just used the spare key we hid under the flower pot to open the door" she says shrugging
"OK so how was your weekend?" I walk behind the counter to pick up my uniform so I can start working
"It was boring " she answers sadly
"Why? What happened? I thought you were going on a date with that cute guy...um what was his name again?" I ask tapping my chin trying to recall his name.
"Divine...I was but he stood me up, he never showed up" I think she really liked him, they met in the shop here and they really hit it off I wonder what happened
"I'm sure he had a good reason for not coming.. Did you try calling him?"
"Yea, I did but he didn't answer" she looks like she's about to cry
"Oh! Come on April, if he didn't show up then he isn't worth it " I tell her trying to cheer her up but I fail miserably
"Enough about me.. What happened to you during the weekend?" she suddenly changes the topic, I will just drop it since it's a sensitive topic for now
" Um nothing much " I shrug
"Come on, spill...why didn't Mike drop you off at work today?" That's right he usually does that, he comes to my house early in the morning to pick me up and comes to take me home when I close also but that has changed now.
"We broke up on Sunday" I say putting my head down
"What! Why?" she asks surprised
" We were on a date and I thought maybe he was finally going to propose to me but at that moment I started having second thoughts about agreeing to it so I went to the restroom but when I came back he was gone " I didn't want to tell her about Amy or any other crazy thing that happened to me.
"I decided to go to his house but on getting there I overheard him and Avril talking and I found out that they had been seeing each other behind my back " I said with tears almost falling from my eyes but I'm not going to cry again.
"What? Wait is it the same Avril I know? Your friend who lives with you " She asked confused
I sighed heavily and nodded with eyes cast down. Ashamed of my so called best friend...what a friend she was?
"Oh Cassie! I'm so sorry. Why didn't you call me I could have given them a piece of my mind for breaking your heart. The next time I see her, I'm going to break her face Cassie" she says determined, I laugh at how serious she is about breaking Avril's face but frankly I don't want that. They will get what's coming to them sooner or later.
"There's no need April, all I want to do is to forget about them and move on with my life " I start counting the money in the register to get my mind off him when April walks around the counter to hug me. I'm taller than her so she has to stand on her tiptoes while I bend down.
"Don't be sad Cassie, he is an idiot for leaving you for Avril, besides you are so much more prettier" she whispers in my ear before walking back to the table she was cleaning. The place is very quiet because customers haven't started coming in and April and I aren't talking right now, we both seem to be deep in thought.
"I have the perfect plan" she squeals excitedly facing me, then continues "we both have broken hearts so why don't we look for some one who can mend our broken hearts" that makes no sense
" And where do you suppose we find this someone?" I ask
" That's easy..." Her sentence is cut short by a customer entering the diner. We both turn to the customer... The man walks over to a table and takes a seat. April walks over to the counter still staring at the man like I am.
" I guess this will be easier than I thought " she says smirking
"What are you talking about? " still staring I ask
" Nothing, just go ask what the gorgeous man wants to buy?" I look at her suspiciously and roll my eyes. I feel nervous, I don't usually feel this way,
" I think I will pass, you go" I say going back to counting the money
"Are you crazy? Do you see that right there, that is the kind of someone that can mend a broken heart" she says...drama queen!
"Well your heart is also broken so you go take his order and let him repair yours, okay?" I just don't want to go over there, I might forget how to write, he is so handsome, six feet, blue eyes, dirty blond stylish hair and a body to kill for. I think I will just stay here.
"Um...excuse me?" He says looking at me. I look at April but she's gone. When and where did she go? I sigh and get my notepad and walk over to his table
"So-sorry for the delay, um...what can I get you" why did I stutter, Urgh!
"Well before that let me introduce myself your highness... I am Gacia Luther and I am pleased to have finally met" he says smiling, I'm confused,why Is he calling me 'your highness'
"I think you've got the wrong person, so what can I get you? " I say tapping my pen on my notepad.
"No I have not, so what is your name?" This guy might be pretty but he's really weird
"Cassie... Now what can I get you?"
"Nothing" he says. Seriously?
"If you are not going to buy anything, then I will be on my way now" I say turning to walk away
"Don't leave yet, we are just getting to know each other" I turn back to look at him with hands crossed over my chest and a frown etched on my face.
" And what makes you think I want to know anything about you?" I say crossing my hands over my chest
"Well if I am to be the one to take you to Avalon, I think we should at least get to know each other so you can trust me " he says...Oh God! this Avalon crap again.
"Like I said to the last guy Chace, I am not going any where so please stop trying" we are having a stare down right now but I seem to be losing. he smiles a knowing smile like he knows something I don't.
"OK fair well my princess. Until we meet again" he says standing up
"Not If I can help it" I mutter under my breath as he walks away
"Oh! But you can't" he says as he walks out the door. That guy has good hearing damn. I turn back to see April watching us with a grin on her face.
But seriously can't this people just leave me alone... And are there only handsome, mouth watering guys in that kingdom. Can't they send an ugly one that I won't at least have a hard time resisting.
"Well that went well" she says smiling
"Where did you go April?"she just shrugs
" I think you wasted a good opportunity Cassie, what happened? It seemed like you guys were quarrelling, what was that about?"she asks leaning on the counter
"Nothing, the guy has a messed up mind... He seems to think I'm a princess and he wants to take me back to my kingdom. I thought with what happened to the guy that tried to take me from my house last night I wouldn't be disturbed but I was wrong they won't leave me alone" I say frustrated, forgetting that I had decided not to tell her about it. Oh well the cat is out of the bag already
" Uh... let me get this straight, Mike broke up with you and when you got home you met a guy which I assume is also handsome as regards to the one here earlier and he tries to take you away to a kingdom where you are the princess and you are telling me you fucking refused?" Now that she says it, any normal person would have jumped at the idea but I'm not like every normal person besides I am not getting married to nobody!
