Senpai entered his dorm room to be greeted by the same question he's heard for at least a month or 2 now. "Hey, can I borrow your computer again?"
"No." Senpai decided to go with something blunt and to the point, he was tired of them asking.
"Why not?"
"Because I said so, do I need a reason why?"
"Yeah, you can't just say no with no real reason! That's rude!"
"And? Rudeness is a social construct, at least that's how I see it!"
"Gh-" Before Senpai knew it he was being pinned to the wall by his roommate.
"You've been hanging out with that lemon head freak, haven't you?"
"A-and..? He saved my life, ok?"
"Oh did he now? Or was he just saving you for later, like he tried to do to me?"
"You... You know him?"
"Course I do, jackass! He's been hunting me for over a year now, he saved my life too only so he could have me as a snack later! I- I ran away, I thought he'd never find me but now he probably knows where I am thanks to you!"
"What..? No, there must be some confusion here! The guy I met was nice, he treated me with respect and-"
"You don't know, trust me! He acts kind and, that's where he gets ya! Next time you see him he'll try chasing you for fun!"
His roommate let go of him before giving him a slip of paper. "The address on there. Go there if you want to know the truth."
Senpai watched as his roommate left the dorm, mumbling something about 'needing fresh air'. He didn't know what to do, he could go to that location but was it worth the risk? They probably just said that to trick me, make me give up MY stuff! Senpai went to bed, he was tired and he didn't want to think about anything right now.
In the end Senpai decided he would just ask Lem about what his roommate said. It took him a few days to decide this, and during that timeframe he noticed his roommate hadn't returned. Senpai went to the alleyway him and Lem always met up at before calling his name. "Lem! You here?"
Lem came out of the shadows, there was a bit of red dripping from around his mouth as he spoke. "Hiya! You need something?"
"Yeah... What's with the red on your face?"
"Oh, that? Here, I'll be right back!"
Lem returned with... two burgers, one was half eaten while the other was unopened.
"So I found some... what do humans call it, I forgot... Cash! And turns out you can trade it for other meats then just the butcher meats! So I traded all the money I collected for a burger for me and you! I didn't expect you to come here today though, you don't typically go for walks on... whatever day of the week this is!"
"It's Sunday but yeah, I typically don't... I just have something I need to ask you, you know?"
"Ok, but here!" Lem handed the burger to Senpai, he opened it to find it was covered on ketchup.
"That's a lot of ketchup..."
"It looked so tasty and red, I had to get it! Not as tasty as it looks, but still good!"
Senpai liked ketchup anyway, so he started to eat the burger before asking the question he needed to ask.
"Yeah, so about my question... Do you eat people? Like, hunt them and shit?"
"Yep! But I only hunt people when I'm bored or when their rude!"
"You... You aren't joking???"
"Of course not! Why?"
"You- you mean you actually... I mean, is this address familiar to you?" Senpai showed Lem the address he was given.
"Hmm... Oh, that's my secret meat box!"
"Your secret meat box has an address..?"
"Yup! Here, I'll take you there right now!"
Lem grabbed Senpai's hand and just like that the two teleported into a big building. It was dark and smallish, there was the strong smell of blood and Senpai noticed there were a few fridges on the wall. At least he assumed they were fridges since it was a secret meat box, he couldn't see very well.
"Welcome to my secret meat box!"
"This place isn't exactly... Box shaped?"
"I like using words in ways that don't make sense!"
"Oh."
Senpai walked around for a bit, he heard his footsteps, it sounded like he was walking on something wet. He finally found a lightswitch and flipped it to find... His roommate's dead body, he was mauled to pieces, it barely looked like a person. Senpai screamed, catching Lem's full attention.
"TH-THAT'S MY... I- MY- WHAT THE FUCK!?"
"Oh yeah, him? He was a real jerk, yea know? He kept bullying these two high schoolers... or were they middle schoolers? Either way, he kept bullying them for no reason! So I killed his friends that bullied those two, but he ran away! I finally found him though, and now he's dead!"
"Lem... Y-you wouldn't do this to m-me... W-would you..?"
"Why would I? You're sweet, but not in an edible way! Also I like you!"
"Oh... I'm sorry, I just... This is all so sudden, I didn't think you were actually a cannibal..!"
"I'm not a cannibal! I don't eat other monsters, I eat people! Also, it's the same thing as you eating that burger, right? I mean, meat comes from animals and all animals have feelings!"
"So you're saying I should be vegan..?"
"Plants have feelings too though!"
"Ok then... What exactly are you saying..?"
"I'm saying that you should just do what you wanna! Humans spend too much time thinking about morals and what's wrong and right! I mean, your not even human and you care so much, you even hide in that human form!"
"With all due respect... This isn't a 'human form'. I'm not, a demon or a monster... I'm a game character brought to life, remember? I don't have another form, it's just... This."
"Hmm... That can't be right..!" Lem sniffed Senpai again, it was weird but Senpai was curious what he was trying to figure out here. "Nope, I can definitely smell another form under your skin!"
"But, I've tried transforming before, I don't have anything like that..!"
"Huh, oh well I guess! I guess I'm just smelling you wrong, or maybe it's some sorta scent hider you're wearing! Like perfume!"
"I mean, I'm wearing deoderant..?"
"I don't know what that is. Anyway, I'm still hungry so I'm gonna eat more of this dude! Want some..?"
"No thanks..."
"Ok, more for me then!"
Senpai thought about it, maybe Lem wasn't wrong, maybe he did have some other form behind all of this? What if I haven't found it because I'm not trying hard enough to find it..? "Uhh hey, actually I had a question?"
"Hmm?" Lem was covered in blood already, Senpai couldn't help but gag at the sight.
"How exactly did you find your... Monster form? Or, were you born like that?"
"I was born like this! Just, I was a little smaller, and my teeth were flat little rocks!"
"Oh... A-actually, I wanted to know if uhh... Maybe I could, I dunno... Try a piece? Of the meat, I mean!" Senpai ran his hand through his hair, he felt awkward but wouldn't anyone?
"Sure!" Lem tossed a finger at him, he somehow caught it. "Why the change of heart?"
"Oh, no reason! I just... I feel like you aren't wrong about the whole... Other form thing, and I wanted to maybe... try living a bit more... uncivalized?"
"Pfft! If you wanna be more 'uncivilized', you gotta think of it differently, dummy! I like to call it 'living outside the box'! C'mere and sit down, I cam help you out with your lil situation!"
Senpai sat down, the blood from his now deceased roommate was on him now, he felt a little digusted but he managed to keep cool.
"S-so... I just- bite into it..?"
"Mhm!"
"Wh-what if I don't like it..?"
"Then you don't eat it! But hey, you don't know till you try!"
Senpai slowly took a bite out of the finger it was surprisingly easy to do. His eyes widened, this was really good..!
"Well..?"
Senpai looked at the body then back at Lem before asking, "You- you gonna eat all of that? Because I'll gladly-"
"Go ahead! Just save a little for me, alright?"
"Mhm!" Senpai grabbed a severed arm and bit into it, his mouth felt like it was in heaven!
"God what have I been missing out on!" Senpai said between bites, and Lem couldn't help but notice Senpai's teeth looked sharper.
"Huh, so I was right..!" Lem stated quietly.
"What was that? I didn't quite hear you..!"
"Oh, I was just thinking out loud!"
"Mmm, ok!" Senpai didn't think twice as he ate, he missed lunch today and got he didn't realize how hungry he was until now! Lem smiled, he was glad he made such a neat friend, Senpai was fun to hang with.
