December 25th 2003
It's Christmas morning and Jen and Brad have been awake since 6am, both of them like little children too excited to sleep. It's now 8am and they have been waiting for the kids to wake up for two hours and the one day they actually want them to wake up early, they decide they are going to sleep in.
"Merry Christmas baby" Brad says as he pulls Jen in closer to him
"Merry Christmas baby"
"I can't believe they are still asleep"
"I know, I can't believe it either. The days we want them to sleep in they are wide awake at 5am and the day we want them to be awake, they're not"
"Well then, if they are still asleep... why don't I give you one of your Christmas presents now?" Brad winks at her and she knows what he means. He crawls on top of her and starts to kiss her neck. Right on cue, they hear River mumbling to himself on the baby monitor
"I guess it'll have to wait until later, come on babe, let's go and get him"
They get up from bed and make their way to their sons bedroom. When they walk in, they see him 'talking' to his stuffed Elephant in his crib.
"Merry Christmas handsome boy" They both say as Brad picks him up out of his crib
"Maaaaaaaaaa maaaaaaaaa"
Jen and Brad are stunned. River has never spoken before and he's just said his first 'words'.
"Did he just say-?" Jen says as she covers her mouth, shocked to what she's just heard
"I think he tried to say mama"
"That's right baby, I'm mama. Good boy sweetheart"
Jen now has tears in her eyes as River's first words were 'mama'. She takes him from Brad and cradles him so close to her. Brad is looking at them both so lovingly and he wraps his arms around both of them, giving kisses to Jen and River's heads.
"Let's go and see if your sisters are awake shall we..."
They make their way across and down the hall to Pollyanna and Ophelia's room. They quietly open the door to find both girls still sleeping. They decide to wake them up anyway, so Jen puts River down on the floor and she goes to Ophelia whilst Brad goes over to Pollyanna.
"Wakey wakey babies" They both whisper as they gently rub the girls' stomachs
"Mama" Ophelia opens up her eyes and wraps her arms around Jens neck
"It's mama baby, it's Christmas morning. Merry Christmas princess"
"Sata beem?" She wakes up more and sits up in bed
"I think we'll have to go downstairs and see won't we"
Ophelia climbs out of bed with her blankie in hand whilst Brad picks Pollyanna up who is definitely not a morning person... just like her mother.
"Polly... baby, it's Christmas" Brad whispers and rubs her back
"Chwistmas?" She replies so sleepily
"Yes baby, shall we go and see if Santa has left you any presents?"
"Yes pwease dada"
All five of them head downstairs with Norman following suit and Jen turns on the living room lights.
"Wow... look at all the presents under the tree"
"Me be dood, fhats why mama"
The girls run over to their piles and begin ripping the wrapping paper off. Jen sits down with River and helps him open his presents.

A few hours later and all the presents are opened. The girls are happy playing with their hoola hoops but they didn't understand the reason why they got toys for animals. Jen and Brad are so excited for Court to bring the guinea pigs around later and they can't wait to see their reaction when they see them.
Dinner time is approaching and Jen is busy in the kitchen, cooking the Turkey, potatoes and the vegetables. The girls are helping her make the stuffing and Brad is giving River a snack of strawberry yogurt.
"Are you hungry everyone?"
"YESSSSS" They all shout, including Brad... like the big baby he is
"Honey, can you come and help me carry all of this food over to the table"
Brad helps Jen and soon enough, they are all tucking in to a delicious Christmas dinner made by Jen herself.

"NUNU" The girls shout as Courteney comes walking in from the back door
"Hello my angels"
"Sata got us wots of pwesents he did"
"Did he? Wow, you must have been good girls and boys then"
"Is the surprise ready?" Jen whispers to Court
"Yep, they are both in the hutch, so they are ready when you are..."
"GIRLS..." Jen shouts from in the kitchen
"Yes mama?"
"Come here for a moment"
"Santa had got you two one more present each... why don't we walk out in the garden and see if you can find it"
The girls excitedly run to the sliding glass doors and Brad holding River, Jen and Court follow them outside.
"WOOK MAMA AMD DADA!" The girls instantly notice the hutch and run to look inside
"MY GUIMEA PIGS MAMA, SATA GOT ME PET"
"No way, Santa got you both a guinea pig, wow! Shall mama take them out so you can see them properly?"
Jen carefully opens up the hutch and gets the two small baby guinea pigs out. The girls immediately start stroking them and they sit down on the grass and Jen puts one each in their laps.
"So tute dada" Ophelia says, smiling and stroking her new animal
"What are you going to call them girls? What's their new names going to-?"
"PIZZA!" Ophelia shouts before Brad even has time to finish his sentence
"You're going to name her Pizza?"
"Yes pizza! Me wove pizza see dada"
"Okay, if that's what you want to call her... and Polly, what are you going to name yours?"
"Ummmmmmmm... EGGS!" Brad, Jen and Court both start laughing at the ridiculous names the girls have given their new pets
"Eggs? Are you sure baby?"
"Yes dada, me caw her eggs"
"Okay princess. Welcome to the family Pizza and Eggs"

Christmas Day is over and the children are all fast asleep. Jen and Brad are finishing tidying up the last few bits and bobs downstairs. Jen goes out to make sure Pizza and Eggs are okay and she lets Norman out for a wee.
Now they are both tucked up in bed watching 'Home Alone', just the two of them. They are cuddled together, so content with how amazing the day has been.
The movie has just finished and they are about to go to sleep. They both lean in and have a small but tender kiss, before cuddling up and wishing each other a Merry Christmas.
"Merry Christmas gorgeous"
"Merry Christmas handsome... oh, and next year we will be adding one more around the dinner table..."
