Aside from the mellow music and sound effects of the video game Kenma was playing, the room was quiet. The boy sat on his bed with you close by. Slowly, you crawled closer to your boyfriend. Your arms tucked around his left arm snugly. Kenma stiffened, almost flinching because you somewhat restricted his movement.
"Do you mind?" He grumbled in your direction. Feeling a sharp spike pang your chest, you swiftly untangled yourself from him.
"Oh... " You mumbled, feeling your voice drop. "I-I'm sorry to bother you." Kenma wasn't directly looking at you, but he could sense the bleak look in your eyes. He loved your eyes; a pretty (e/c). They were the only pair of eyes he never minded looking at him. Simply imagining how they cloud with heartache made guilt wash over him. He paused his game, turning to look at you.
"Oh no," Kenma put down the control upon noticing how you drew away from him. "I didn't mean to snap at you, I'm sorry." He moved closer, seeing the tears that began to brim in your eyes only made him feel worse. Kenma never let your clinging bother him, in fact, he almost always enjoyed it when you gave him affection when you were alone.
But Kuroo had been forcing the team to do more intense training during practice and Kenma hadn't gotten much sleep last night either. The boy had a long day, which resulted in him snapping at his beloved significant other. He didn't think before he made a snarky remark. He didn't stop to wonder if you had a long day just like he did.
"Honey, please don't cry," Kenma told you, gently reach out to hold your cheeks. He kissed your forehead, then your temples, then under your eye. Kenma muttered countless apologies, promising he absolutely cherished your affection and attention.
"I love you," Kenma assured you softly. "I don't want you to go anywhere, I'm so sorry, sweetheart." Kenma wrapped his arms around you, tugging you closer. You easily gave in to his embrace, hugging him tightly. You felt a few tears escape, but Kenma was quick to wipe them away. Seeing your cry because of his thoughtless actions hurt worse than any drills Kuroo could ever make him do.
"I'm so lucky to have you, (Y/n)," Kenma told you, gently stroking your hair. "Never let me forget that, okay?" You nodded your head, your head against his chest.
"Okay," You whispered. "It's okay. I love you too, Kenma."
