Natasha snuggles closer to my chest as I wrap one arm around her petty little body. She continues to sleep, I look down at her a sleepy smile appearing on my face. She may be deadly but she also can be cute and sweet when she wants to. I place a gently kiss upon her head before I slip out of bed to get ready for the day ahead. I grab my uniform and head straight for a shower.
I open the shower door stepping in so I can turn the nob all the way up. The heat sinks into my sore muscles my eyes looking straight ahead. I soap up quickly before jumping out of the shower. I put on my uniform and brush my teeth, I turn off the bathroom light and close the door. I see Natasha slipping out of the clothes I let her borrow last night. I turn around giving her, her privacy, I can feel her eyes staring at me.
"You can look now." Natasha whispers as she comes over to me.
I turn around to see she's already dress in her black leather cat suit. I eye her up and down and she playfully punched me.
"No shower?" I tease slightly.
"I took two last night. I think I'm good ." She murmurs.
There's a knock on my door, I glance at Natasha before walking over to the door to answer it. I open my the door to see Sarah dressed in her uniform, her green eyes looking at me.
"You seriously shot an arrow at dad last night." Sarah viscously replies.
"Actually two," I say, "and before you yell at me he deserved it."
"So, you could have killed him." She angrily shouts.
"Sarah you're being a little over dramatic don't you think? I knew what I was doing, I have for eight years." I answer my voice becoming louder.
"You're such a dick sometimes." Sarah voices shaking her head.
"Yeah, I must get that from dad." I sarcastically voice.
Natasha walks closer to us and Sarah just gives a eye roll. She steps back so Natasha can have room to leave.
"I'm going to go, I'll see you later."
"Yeah," I say my eyes looking over to Natasha."
Natasha stalks down the hall leaving Sarah and I all alone. I grab Sarah's arm and pull her into my room, slamming the door behind me.
"So you're screwing Natasha now?" Sarah scoffs.
"It's not like that. I didn't sleep with her last night." What is she playing at?
"But you slept with her before am I right?"
"Did dad tell you? What else did he tell you?" My voice goes low.
"He did, why didn't you tell me Natasha's pregnant?" Sarah ask her tone sounding hurt.
"I just found out last night." I begin, "Natasha..."
"You know dad's upset right? This isn't going to go well." I just give a brief nod.
"He's not touching her, nobody's touching her. Or our baby." I voice, biting my lip.
"It's dad, Hyde... if he knows so will Shield and all of you're enemies."
"I'll do what ever it takes to protect her, them." My jaw clenching with anger.
"And what about yourself?" Sarah challenges grabbing onto my arm.
"I'll be fine." I assure her. Maybe I won't but it's something I'm wiling to sacrifice.
"You should go see Fury, he's assembling the Avengers." Sarah whispers pulling me into a hug.
I clench onto her not letting her go.
"Please just promise me... promise me you'll protect yourself as well?" Sarah murmurs into my ear.
"I will," I honestly answer.
"Get going I don't want to get you in trouble, so go." Sarah says pushing me away from her.
"Yes ma'am," I reply with a salute.
This causes Sarah to let out a laugh something I haven't heard her do for a while. I grab my bow and head out the door and towards the conference room. The door scans my eye allowing me into the busy room. I stroll around the table plopping myself next to Rogers. Fury stares at me a you're late expression on his face, I reply with a shrug.
I look around the room my eyes trying to see if everybody is here. Everybody's here except for one person. Dammit Natasha.Great how do I explain this one?
"Hyde have you seen Agent Romanoff?" Fury questions everybody's eyes on me.
"I just saw her, she said she was coming here." I voice back looking at the conference room table.
Speaking of Natasha she walks into the room everybody glancing over to her. She sits next to me, I place my hands on the table while Natasha's hand go in her lap. Fury stands up straight his eyes all on us if that's even possible?
"What is this meeting for? I question plopping my feet up on the table.
"Do you have plans Hyde?" Fury challenges turning towards me.
I look around the room. "No,"
"Then shut the hell up." Fury yells at me.
I keep my mouth shut noting saying another word. Fury turns back to the group a scowl on his face. This is going to be fun. The door opens and Agent Maria and my dad come in, Sarah behind them. Great, just what I needed.
"Nick," My dad voices rings out.
"Carter," Fury begins, "what can I help you with?"
"I need to talk to Hyde. It's important." My dad tells, I roll my eyes.
Fury nods and I get up from the chair making my way over to my dad. The door opens and I follow him down the hall not really wanting to go. We go into an empty office room, he turns around to face me.
"What?" I ask, "If this has anything to do with Natasha and the baby I'm not talking to you."
"I talk to Natasha, about the baby and other things." I glare at him, "Eden you're to young to be a father, Natasha's to young as well."
"She's twenty seven." I answer, "She has a good career, so do I. So if we want the baby and from the looks of it we do, you're not telling me different. Nothing is going to change my mind."
"Eden you need to listen to me for one in you're life." He orders.
"I have listen to you, all I've done is to make you proud of me! But whatever I do it's never good enough for you, ever since mom died you have looked at me different." I claim, "I know you blame me for her death, because she picked me up from a fight we had. Then a drunk driver hit us and that changed everything."
He stares at me like I open up another wound. And I know I probably did, but it was in the heat of the moment.
"I have to get back to work." I say, like nothing happened.
I push past him and make my way into the board room, seeing that everyone is gone. I stroll down the hall and into the lab seeing Tony and Bruce working on some science stuff. Tony smiles at me holding out a blueberry, I shake my head and he shrugs. He pops it into his mouth instead.
"Spy kid," Tony winks at me.
"How's the science thing coming along?" I ask looking at what the screen.
"Good." Bruce answers looking at me.
Tony walks up behind Bruce poking him with some sort of laser thing. Steve comes in the room. Bruce cries out jumping a little.
"You really have got a lid on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?
"Are you nuts?" I hear Steve ask.
"Jury's out." Tony says, causing me to laugh.
"Is everything a joke to you?" Steve questions.
"Yeah pretty much." I add on.
Steve glares at me and I smirk at him walking away. I look at the computer that brings up Shields secrets. I start reading them, there using the Tesseract to make weapons.
"We need to have a meeting." I say pointing at the screen. "What the hell is Shield doing?" I ask
"Let's find out."
Fury comes in a scowl plastered on his face. Natasha following after him, along with Thor.
"What are you doing Stark?" Fury ask.
Uh, kind of been wondering the same about you." Tony says looking at Fury.
"You're suppose to be locating the Tesseract!" Fury yells.
"We are! The model's locked and we're sweeping for the signature now. When we get the hit, we'll have a signature within half a mile." Bruce answers looking at us.
"Yeah, you'll get your cube back, no mas, no fuss." Tony answers looking at me.
I laugh, wow is this really happening right now?
"What is Phase 2" Tony questions pointing at Nick.
"Phase 2 is SHIELD uses the Cube to make weapons! Sorry, the computer was moving a little slow for me." Steve replies dropping a weapon on a table.
" Rogers, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract, this does not mean that we..." Nick goes to finish but Tony cuts him off.
"I'm sorry Nick, what were you lying" Tony challenges pointing to the screens.
"I was wrong, Director. The world hasn't changed a bit." Steve says.
"You want to think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor? Natasha challenges raising a eyebrow at Bruce.
" I was in Calcutta, I was pretty well removed." Bruce chuckles.
" Loki is manipulating you." Natasha replies, looking at me.
Loki? I look at Natasha.
"You've talked to Loki?" I ask getting a little protective
"It doesn't matter." She hisses looking at me before talking to Bruce.
" And you been doing what, exactly?" Banner quizzes his gaze on Natasha.
"You didn't come here because I batted my eyelashes at you." I shake my head, are we really fighting?
"Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy." This is getting out of hand.
"Everybody stop fighting." I shout, causing everybody to look at me.
"You speak of peace but yet you cause chaos." Thor speaks up.
Everybody continues to keep fighting, the worst coming from Steve and Tony. I step in front of Natasha. All of sudden there's a huge boom, causing everybody to fall down. Natasha, Bruce, and I falling through. I fall farther then Natasha and Bruce, hitting my head and before I black out from the pain.
