Chapter 29:

Alpha Simmons POV:

I groaned and slowly opened my eyes, looking around. I growled lowly when I realized I was in my no good daughters room. Everything came back to me and I roared in anger, jumping up. That son of a bitch tricked me. We all thought he was dead, but I saw him with my own eyes taking my daughter away.

I jumped up and stomped my way through the house hitting my men awake as I went.  I made my way into the kitchen to find my Beta standing there shaking in fear and anger. “What is going on?” I snarled demanding to know why he was acting like this.

“Sir. They’re all gone. The women and the children. Every single one of them is gone.  I had our tracker follow their scent and it led him back to the Richards territory.” He said shakily, probably afraid that I was going to take my anger out on him, and usually I would. Right now, though, I just wanted revenge on the Richards pack.

They better be ready for war, because I’m coming.

Liam’s POV:

I woke up with Ally clutching to me even tighter than usual. I sighed knowing that things wouldn’t be this peaceful for long, especially since Alpha Simmons had seen Anthony. He would be out for blood now, and I feared that it would be soon. I would have to get everything ready for war today. I didn’t want us to be unprepared.

Ally began to stir and I grinned down at her as she sleepily opened her eyes and yawned            before staring up at me. “Morning beautiful.” I said before leaning down and pecking her lips softly. I leaned my forehead against hers and just stared into her eyes.

“Ally. I know you aren’t going to like this but starting today you’re going to have to stay with the rest of the women and children in the safe house. I’ll be with you as much as possible, but I have to help prepare the pack.” I said softly while running my hands through her hair gently.

She sighed and nodded in understanding. “I figured.” She said and then buried her head into my chest and snuggled closer to me. I held her tight to me knowing that I had to get up soon. We couldn’t waste too much time, and I wanted to make sure Ally was all settled in at the safe house.

I didn’t like the thought of her not being with me at all times, but I had to deal with the pack and I needed to know that Ally was somewhere secure while I did that. That way I would be less distracted and could get everything done faster. Then I would have time to spend with my mate.

Sighing, I stroked Ally’s cheek once more before removing my arms from her and sitting up. “Alright angel, we have to get up now. You can spend the first part of the day with me while I inform everybody about moving to the safe house and make the rounds to see all the fighters and prepare them. Then I’m going to have to meet with the other Alpha’s and talk strategy.” I said down to business and she looked at me in wonder.

“Liam, you’re going to make such a great Alpha.” She said in admiration and a sense of pride enveloped me. My mate thought that I was going to be a good leader. She respected and admired me and it meant more to me than anything in the world.

I immediately kissed her passionately while holding her tight against me, and her fingers curled into my hair as usual. I grinned against her lips before pulling back and standing up. Now we really had to get going. There was a lot that needed to be done today.

We both quickly got ready and I grabbed Ally’s delicate hand in my own while I lead her out of the house. Then we proceeded to go from house to house in the pack informing all the women and children that they need to report to the safe house tonight. Most of their mates would be joining them until the actual war started.

When the fighting begins the women will all go down into the actual safe part of the safe house. The basement of sorts is sound proof and once the door is sealed its almost impossible for even a werewolf to get in. The women would have to open it when the fight is over and when they’re sure its safe.

The room may seem like a prison or something but it’s actually cozy with couches and TV’s. There’s a kitchen area with food stocked so nobody would go hungry. There are even beds and extra pillows and blankets down there. My father thought of everything when he had it built. We’re just lucky that its never been needed before.

Ally and I were just about to go talk to the fighters of the pack when Adam ran up to us with tears streaming down his face and his little body shaking in fear. He instantly ran into our legs sobbing while Ally looked at me with distress written all over her face.

I immediately picked Adam up and held him so I could see his face. He was still shaking when I asked, “Adam, buddy, what happened? Tell Mommy and I what’s wrong so we can fix it.” I began wiping the tears from his face as his lip trembled when he began to speak.

“I-I-I was walk-king and and l-looking f-f-for you when-n-n some man ca-ca-came out of the w-woods. H-he grabbed me and t-t-told me that I b-b-better watch out, and that they-y-y w-were going to h-hurt me and my m-m-mommy. H-h-he gave me th-this.” Adam chocked out and handed me a tear stained note before he completely broke down again.

Dear Liam,

I know we don’t know each other but you have made me very angry by taking all my toys and playthings away from me. You also helped that little rat take my daughter from me and now you’re going to pay. You’ve got a nice boy there. Real cute. I’m sure he’d grow up to be quite the nice strong slave. Oh, and that mate of yours is a real looker. I can’t wait to get my hands on her. I bet she’s a fun little thing. I can’t wait to run my hands through that long blond hair of hers and put my hands all over that little body. You won’t mind, right? After all, you deserve this for what you’ve done to me and my pack. And, for what? To help out that little mutt, Anthony? I just hope it was worth it, because I will get my revenge. Just you wait. Have a nice day Liam, and say hi to Alexandra for me. Tell her I’ll be coming for her soon.

                                                                                                                                                Sincerely, Mark Simmons.

By the time I finished the letter I was shaking in pure rage and I barely noticed that Ally had taken Adam from me and was cradling him in her arms and soothing him. Once she saw me about to shift she instantly laid a calming hand on my cheek and looked up at me, scared and confused.

Without a word I softly grabbed her hand and quickly led her back to the house. I needed to talk to my father right away. When we got there I told her, “Ally, take Adam upstairs and pack anything you two will need for the next few days. You’re going to the safe house, now.” I told her and she obeyed without question, because she could tell house important and serious this was.

Once she disappeared I stormed into my dads office where he didn’t seem to be doing anything particularly important. My anger was rising as I clutched the note in my hand. I threw it on his desk and bellowed, “How could this happen! Somebody got into our territory and scared my son to death before threatening him and giving him this note. How could our patrols let this happen! What if they had hurt him?! What if they had killed or taken him?! My mate would have been crushed! I would have been crushed! You need to do something, dad! If you don’t, I will!”

My father stared at me in concern and he looked thoughtful for a few seconds. “Son, I’m sorry that this happened. Something must have gone wrong with the patrol.” He said calmly making my irritation spike once again. He was being calm at a moment like this.

One of the enemy pack members snuck onto our land to terrorize my son and threaten him and my mate, and he seemed to not even care?! What kind of Alpha and father was he? My eyes flashed as I glared at him sitting there coolly at his desk.

If he wasn’t going to do something, I was. I would track down every wolf on patrol and punish whoever was to blame for this intrusion. It’s unacceptable that somebody got in without detection. Somebody was going to pay for letting a dangerous wolf get so close to my son.

Scenarios of what could have happened ran through my head, and I knew I was about to shift at any moment. My wolf wanted out and he wanted blood. He was furious that this had happened and he wanted revenge right now. First he wanted to punish all the wolves currently on patrol and then he wanted to run to the Simmons pack right now and tear the throat out of their Alpha for threatening his mate.

I growled dangerously at my father and he just stared back at me with an emotionless mask on. I could tell he was just as mad as I was, but I couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t jumping into action right then.

Suddenly I felt two arms wrap around my waist from behind and my wolf calmed down slightly just from the touch of his mate. She nuzzled her face into my back before standing on her tiptoes and peppering kisses along my collarbone finally relaxing me enough to where the shaking had stopped.

I stared at my father one more time. “This is your last chance to do something, dad. Otherwise I’m taking matters into my own hands” I said in a business like tone and he nodded in understanding before standing up and I was about to breathe out a sigh of approval when he spoke.

“Son, I’m not going to do anything.” He said matter-of-factly and held his hand up before I could scream at him in frustration. “See I can’t do anything because I talked to the werewolf council this morning and gave up my spot as Alpha.” He said and my mouth dropped open as Ally gasped in shock from behind me.

How could he just give up his position as Alpha when we were about to go to war. “You’re just abandoning your pack when they need you the most. We’re going to war with the most ruthless pack and you’re just giving up. We need you!” I practically yelled in annoyance and surprise, and then he did something totally unexpected. He smiled.

“No son. They don’t need me. Not anymore. They need you. Congratulations, Alpha.” He said with pride before bowing his head in submission showing that I was now above him.
