"Why, Rick? Why would you risk your life for a douche bag like Merle Dixon?" Shane asked Rick as everyone watched.
"Hey, choose your words more carefully." Daryl said to Shane.
"No, I did. Douche bag's what I meant." Shane said.
"I suddenly like Shane a lot more." Madelyn whispered to Glenn, making him roll his eyes in amusement. It may had only been a day since Madelyn met Glenn but she really did like him. He was definitely best friend material. Glenn like Madelyn too. He was glad he decided to save her and Rick's life after all.
"Merle Dixon. The guy wouldn't give you a glass of water if you were dying of thirst." Shane said.
"What he would or wouldn't do doesn't interest me." Rick said. "I can't let a man die of thirst, me. Thirst and exposure. We left him like an animal caught in a trap. That's no way for anything to die, let alone a human being."
"So, you and Daryl? That's your big plan?" Lori asked before Rick turned to look at Glenn, making him sigh.
"Oh, come on." Glenn sighed.
"You know the way. You've been there before, in and out, no problem. You said so yourself." Rick said. "It's not fair of me to ask, I know that, but I'd feel a lot better with you along."
"That's just great. Now, you're gonna risk three men, huh?" Shane asked.
"Four." T-Dog said, making Daryl scoff.
"My day just keeps getting better and better, don't it?" Daryl asked sarcastically as he cleaned his arrows.
"Yeah, you see anybody else here stepping up to save your brother's cracker ass?" T-Dog asked.
"Why you?" Daryl asked.
"You wouldn't even begin to understand." T-Dog said. "You don't speak my language."
"That's four." Rick said.
"It's not just four. You're putting every single one of us at risk." Shane said to Rick. "Just know that, Rick. You saw that walker. It was here. It was in camp. They're moving out of the cities. They come back, we need every able body we got. We need them here. We need them to protect camp."
"It seems to me what you really need most here are more guns." Rick said.
"The guns." Glenn said, looking at Madelyn, making her eyes widen.
"The guns." Madelyn said.
"Wait, what guns?" Shane asked.
"Six shotguns, two high powered rifles, over a dozen handguns." Rick said. "I cleaned out the cage back at the station before I left. I dropped the bag in Atlanta when Madelyn and I got swarmed. Madelyn, you saw that bag."
"It's a big bag, Shane. I may not be fond of Merle, but those weapons, we'll need them." Madelyn said. Shane looked at Madelyn before looking at Rick.
"It's just sitting on the street, waiting to be picked up." Rick said.
"Ammo?" Shane asked.
"Seven hundred rounds, assorted." Rick said.
"You went through hell to find us." Lori said. "You just got here and you're-you're gonna turn around and leave?"
"Dad, I don't want you to go." Carl said.
"To hell with the guns. Shane is right." Lori said. "Merle Dixon? He's not worth one of your lives, even with guns thrown in."
"We could all lose our lives without those guns, Lori." Madelyn said. "Let's say a swarm of walkers end up here. How will be defend ourselves?"
"I have to admit...I think Madelyn is right." Dale said.

The sun had set and the camp were all eating dinner. Rick, Daryl, T-Dog and Glenn hadn't returned yet from the city and Madelyn couldn't help but hope that they were okay. She experienced how dangerous it was there. Anything could happen if they weren't careful.
"This is some good fish." Shane said.
"I gotta ask you, man. It's driving me crazy." Morales said.
"What?" Dale asked.
"That watch." Morales said.
"What's wrong with my watch?" Dale asked.
"I see you everyday, the same time, winding that thing like a village priest saying mass." Morales said.
"I've wondered this myself." Jacqui said.
"I'm missing the point." Dale said.
"Unless I've misread the signs, the world seems to have come to an end." Jacqui said. "At least hit a speed bump for a good long while."
"But there's you every day, winding that stupid watch." Morales said.
"Time. It's important to keep track, isn't it? The days at least. Don't you think?" Dale asked as Amy got up.
"Where are you going?" Andrea asked her.
"I have to pee." Amy said. "Jeez, you try to be discreet around here."
Everyone laughed as Amy left and carried on eating dinner, telling stories and laughing. It was the first time Madelyn genuinely felt happy since everything started.
"We're out of toilet paper." Amy said before she screamed, making everyone turn around and see Amy's arm being bitten by a walker. Everyone screamed and ran from the fire.
"Oh my god." Madelyn gasped, quickly grabbing a baseball bat. Shane quickly got up and began shooting the walkers whilst Madelyn went to hit the walker, only for it to get back up again. Then she remembered what Daryl said. Go for the brain and that's what she did. She smashed the head of a walker over and over again until its brains were oozing out. Madelyn was covered in walker blood but she didn't care. These walkers killed her husband, they were the cause of her miscarriage. She wanted to kill them.
There were people being bitten into, people fighting back and people running. Shane led the women away whilst Dale, Andrea, Madelyn, Jim and Morales continued fighting and shooting the walkers. Every walker head that Madelyn smashed only made her more angrier. These walkers ruined her life and she was going to make as many of them pay.
"No! No!" Andrea yelled as she tried to run to her sister who was now bitten in the neck. Jim managed to quickly hit the walker away from Amy, allowing Andrea to see Amy who was quickly dying.
Madelyn continued beating the walkers until she felt a hand grab her arm. She turned around and found herself face to face with a walker, making her gasp. She tried to fight it off but the walker was surprisingly strong. Just as it seemed like Madelyn's life would come to an end, an arrow was shot into the walker's head, making it drop dead instantly. Madelyn gasped and turned around, seeing Daryl standing not too far away with his crossbow up. Daryl saved Madelyn's life. Before Madelyn could even say thank you, Daryl quickly left to fight other walkers.
It was obvious that Rick and the guys were back and saw what was going on. Daryl's thank you would have to wait. Everyone needed to defend the camp.
