Your feet hit the pavement as you ran away from those soldiers chasing you. They yelled out your name as they chased you down. They couldn't catch up to you at the pace you were running. As you ran, you kept your sword down in your sheath to protect it at all cost. You ran around a corner and neared a brick wall dead end. You tried to turn around, but the soldiers got there in time to block off your path.
Soldier: There's nowhere to run! Kill him!
The soldiers charged at you with their swords, but you only placed your hand on the handle of your sword and quickly sliced a soldier's neck into two. You sliced two more soldiers and dodged an attack. You shifted away from a soldier's sword attack and countered by rushing pass him and sliced his back. The last soldier swung his blade, but you easily evaded and sliced his throat with your sword. You placed your sword back into your sheath and walked off, but the last guard was still standing holding his neck.
Soldier: H-hey! Y-you can't wa-walk away from m-me yet!
Suddenly, the slash mark at the soldier's throat was lit up in electricity and the man's head exploded into pieces. His corpse fell to the ground as soon as you walked away from the alley.
The sword you used was Thunderbolt's Reign; Raijin. It was the Imperial Arms that was handed down to you by your Kung Fu master before he passed away long ago. It was a sword that was powered by the element of lighting. One cut will send 1,000 electrical volts into one's body and will paralyze the victim. A slice to the neck or face would be instant death and will explode the head of the victim. But that wasn't all.
Raijin's Trump card was called the Storm of Terror. It had the power to create a thunderstorm and to have full control of it. You never had to used your Trump card, though. The sword was already powerful enough.
However, the Imperial Arms had a weakness. Raijin was too strong to handle on one's own. Using the power of Raijin will require the user to drink a cup of water to regain their strength back. It was temporary, but it was still a down side.
And that was the problem now.
You weakly trotted through one of poor villages in the capital. You walked slowly, struggling to stand up, desperate for a drink.
(YN): W-water.....
Man: Give me some food now!
The man tried to stab you with a knife, but you weakly dodged and sent him a quick backhand punch to his face and quickly sliced his head off with your sword. You dropped to your knee and stabbed the sword into the ground to support yourself. Another man charged at you and aimed a punch, but you grabbed his fist and slammed his head down on the handle of the sword, then you kicked him down and sliced his neck with your sword. The man's head was lit in electricity and exploded to pieces, blood splattered on your left leg.
You were struggling to stand and your legs gave out. You fell face first on the ground and dropped your sword. Your vision was nothing but a blur, but you did spotted someone standing over you. The person was too blurry to see clearly, but you could tell that it was a woman. She had long blue hair hanging all the way down to her knees and she had on a hat. You were too weak to defend yourself if she was another enemy. Close to reaching unconsciousness, the woman bent down and reached out her hand to you. But then, you suddenly passed out. Everything went dark.
Your eyes slowy opened and you saw yourself in a dark cage. It appeared to be like a dark dungeon. Your vision was still a little blurry, so you couldn't really tell. But you did knew that there was somebody standing over you again. It was the same woman you saw on the street. She bent down and placed a wooden cup on the ground near you. You looked confused, but then you weakly reached out for the cup and took a sip.
It was water. The very thing you needed. You slowly drunk the whole cup and placed it back on the ground.
(YN): Could..... Could I have another cup?
???: Sure.
The woman picked up the cup and walks away. You took your time to turn yourself on your back and closed your eyes. Soon, the woman came back and set the cup of water on the ground next to you. You opened your eyes and reached for the cup to drink the water down. You set the now empty cup down and started breathing normally. You could see clearly now and your energy level was back to normal.
You looked up at the woman who saved you and observed her closely. It was the woman with the long blue hair and the hat. She was wearing a black and white general apparel with long black sleeves and an appealing short white skirt along with tall white high heel boots. She also had a weird looking tattoo on the revealing part of her chest.
(YN): Thank you, ma'am. I'm (YN). What is your name?
???: My name is Esdeath. I'm a general in this Empire. I saw you losing your energy when you were outside, so I brought you here to help you out. Do you feel better?
(YN): Yes. Thanks again.
Esdeath: You're welcome. I notice you have an Imperial Arms. It's called Raijin, right?
(YN): How did you know?
Esdeath: I've studied many Imperial weapons in my time as a general. They all come quite in handy. Especially yours. How did you get your hands on one?
(YN): One of my masters from my Kung Fu classes gave it to me. He wanted me to have it knowing that he'd pass away after that. I don't even know how he got the weapon.
Esdeath: Interesting. I'm glad I could be a help to you.
You picked yourself and looked around the room. Then you bowed your head down to the woman standing in front of you.
(YN): Thank you again, ma'am. I wouldn't know what to do if I was stuck out there like that. I don't know how much I can repay you.
Esdeath: Then why don't you make it up to me by joining my team?
Esdeath reached out her hand in a offer, making you confused for a second.
Esdeath: Your Imperial Arms is very interesting to me. I'd like to study it more. I would also like to add a force like yours to my team. It'd do you a lot good.
(YN): ....
(YN): Since you've helped me out, I would gladly return the favor.
Esdeath: Excellent. Come. I want to show you to my team.
After leaving the cell, Esdeath showed you around the place. You were aware of the torture rooms that were in the place. She explained that it was her "Torture Chamber", and from there on you already knew she was a little crazy. But you didn't say anything about it.
Esdeath shown you the rest of the castle and both of you came to the conference room. In the room, there was a group of people playing around with each other for some reason. They all stopped when they saw you and Esdeath.
Esdeath: Everyone, I would like you all to meet someone. (YN).
???: Hey, you're that guy the commander brought in earlier. I'm Wave. It's a honor to meet you.
???: I'm Kurome.
???: I'm Bols. I can tell you're going to be a valuable member of our team. If you join, that is.
???: I'm Seryu Ubiquitous and this is my little friend, Koro! Koro, say hi.
White Dog: *barks*
???: I'm Run. It's a pleasure to meet you.
???: Oh, I'm Dr. Stylish, but you can call me Mister Stylish. Can I call you "Care Bear"?
(YN): No, no. Just call me (YN). Anyway, this is the team?
Esdeath: Yes. We're called the Jaegers. We're a team of officers that are tasked to eliminate the villainous group of assassins, called Night Raid. Do you know them?
(YN): Oh, yeah. I've heard of them. They terrorized my part of town. My hometown thought they were just a myth.
Esdeath: The Night Raid assassins are indeed real. We are to protect this Empire from their cruelty and dishonesty. That is why I will need to ask you again.
(YN): ....
Esdeath: If you join the Jaegers, you are willing to put your life on the line when on duty. Are you sure you're up to the task?
This isn't the first time you've been in the fighting game. You only killed people for self defense, but you never took someone's life intentionally. This could be a hard decision for you to make, but at the same time, what other option was there? The soldiers you killed from earlier was chasing you because of a crime you caused, and that was just stealing some food. A poor man has to what he has to do to survive on their own. You were sold to the Empire as a child by your parents anyway. You probably won't get to see them again. The Jaegers were offering you care, that's what you really yearned for. There was no need to reject the team that helped you out from the beginning. That was your final answer.
(YN): Please allow me to join the Jaegers. I will fully devote my life to you and I want to protect this team at all cost.
Esdeath: Excellent. Welcome to the team.
Wave: Alright! We have a new member!
Dr. Stylish: Hmm. Good decision, mate.
Esdeath: There's just one more thing to settle.
(YN): What's that?
Esdeath quickly spun around and performed a spinning hook kick to your face, kicking the blood out of your mouth. You was sent all the way across the room and collided against the wall. You fell to the floor in a lot of pain.
Esdeath: You failed the reactionary. Anyone around you could be an enemy and you have to be aware of that. You need to keep your guard up at all times. You have to do better than that.
Wave: Ouch.
You sat up and wiped the blood off your lip as you hung onto Esdeath's words. Be on guard, at all times.
The rest of the day for you was getting to know each of the members individually. Each member didn't have much to say about themselves. To be frankly, all of them were weird in their own way. Wave always smelt like fish because of where he came from. Bols was just creepy looking, even if he was nice from the inside. Kurome was quiet and was very protective about her little bag of cookies. Seryu was just an outrageous "justice-freak". Dr. Stylish seemed to be like a homosexual who flirted with you the entire time. Esdeath is very sadistic and obsessive with torturing people. Run was the only "normal" member of the Jaegers, except that he's TOO nice.
But yeah. That's your crew. It would be surprising to see how you would fit in with everybody.
When nighttime arrived, Run showed you to the new room that you would be staying in. After Run left, you closed the door behind you and observed your surrounding. It wasn't a bad room. In fact, it was almost like a luxury. There was a nice big bed, a huge bathroom, a sizeable closet, and more nice things in the bedroom. You got yourself ready for bed by taking off your shirt and placing Raijin beside your bed. Once you turned around to go to the bathroom, you flinched in surprise when you saw Kurome standing in the middle of your room with a blank expression.
(YN): Oh shit! How the hell did you get in here without making a sound?!
Kurome: The commander wanted me to inform you that you will be training under me tomorrow.
(YN): Uh...
Kurome: Be ready when the time comes.
Kurome opened the door and left the room without further explanation. Kurome was a very strange girl, as far as you can tell.
