Description; Always having a crush on Cassie, never thinking anything would come of this.
Warnings; None I don't think.

•••••••
"Oh come on" I rolled my eyes as Kat and Maddy laughed, last night had been my first date since I had gotten over my crush on one of my best friends Cassie and let's say it was a disaster. Now Kat and Maddy would not let me live the experience down.
"What are we laughing at?" I turned to see the blonde, Cassie, sitting down at the lunch table. Confusion on her face as she looked from Maddy and Kat to me. This seemed to make the girls laugh even more. "Please can someone fill me in" Again she looked around the group before her eyes landing on mine. Like I said earlier I had a crush on Cassie pretty much since I met her, she was sweet, a little naive and just drop-dead gorgeous. Who wouldn't have a crush on her, I mean come on. Sadly she was dating McKay though so over the last couple of months I had tried my hardest to get over her, I was done torturing myself over someone that didn't see me like that. "y/n?" She smiled.
"Well look who's finally decided to join us today?" Another tray hit the table, BB now sat on the other side of Maddy staring at Cassie. For the last few weeks Cassie had avoided eating with us, I actually hadn't seen her most of the week, you'd honestly think she was avoiding me. I just chalked it up to her wanting to spend as much time as possible with McKay till he headed back to college.
"What? What are you on talk about?" Cassie turned from me and towards BB prodding at the food on her plate aimlessly.
"I'm talking about how for like the last two weeks you've basically been avoiding us" BB placed her fork back down on the tray pushing it forward. "Bored with McKay?"
"BB" Maddy nudged the girl shaking her head.
"What it's true. Ever McKay got back it's all been about him" Kat and I shared a look both feeling uncomfortable with the situation. I turned to look at BB then Cassie who was now looking down at her tray a slight quiver to her lip. "What got nothing to say"
"McKay and I broke up" Silence fell over the group, BB's mouth opened as if she was going to wittily respond but not expecting what Cassie said.
"Why did you two break up?" Maddy asked leaning across the table. Cassie looked up and seemingly quickly at me than the others then back at the table not offering a response. "Did you break up with him? Did he break up with you?"
"Maddy" Kat nudged Maddy as Maddy had earlier to BB. "If she wanted to talk about it she would"
"I broke up with him" Cassie said as soon as Kat was done speaking.
"Why?" Kat looked at Maddy in disbelief.
"I just did" Cassie responded like it was nothing. All of us shared a look of disbelief, only two months ago was Cassie saying McKay was most likely the one for her. None of us could really believe that. "Look I don't want to talk about it" She shrugged. "Now will you guys tell me what you guys were laughing about?"
"We were laughing about y/n disaster of the date last night." Again Kat laughed, I didn't say anything but rather flipped the girl off.
"What you went on a date last night?" Cassie turned to look at me, I couldn't help but feel a little hurt by the look of shock and disbelief on her face.
"Is it really that had to believe?" I turned my whole body to face the girl who seemed taken back by my response.
"No, no, no..." She shook her head looking forward playing with the fork on her tray. "It's just..." Cassie turned back to face me. "You've never seemed interested in anyone" Yeah I have you, I said in my head. I just shrugged looking towards Maddy and Kat hoping they would change the conversation to another topic. Maddy got the memo and quickly changed the topic to her and Nate. I didn't really care much as Maddy never took our advice about her and her psychotic boyfriend. I rested my chin in my hand pretending to listen to Maddy but my mind wondering to the girl next to me or the fact that our arms were brushing against one another. I resisted the urge to turn my head and admire her. I kept my focus straight ahead till I felt her shift in the seat next to me.
"I'm gonna go. I've got to meet up with Lexi" I turned watching the blonde stand up and make her way away from the table and out the canteen not looking back at the group.
"That was weird" BB commented, she had finally pulled her tray back towards her.
"Yeah, something is off with her" Maddy added squinting her eyes in thought. "I mean what do you think y/n?" She turned to look at me.
"She seems like Cassie to me" I mumbled. Maddy rolled her eyes. I mean she did but I wasn't trying to focus on the girl too much.
"There's definitely something up with her" I watched as Maddy stood up from the table and followed after Cassie. Kat started up the conversation again but I still wasn't that bothered in it, I would occasionally say yeah or nod my head at whatever they were saying.

"I hate maths" I leant against the lockers as Maddy pulled her book out for the final class of the day. Kat had already gone to class and BB had ditched after lunch leaving just me, Maddy and Cassie. The blonde stood on the other side of the corridor, my gaze met hers, I smiled and she looked done. I looked at Maddy who didn't seem to have caught the interaction.
"I think maths hates you" Maddy laughed as I turned my head to look at her, she slowly closed her locker.
"What does that even mean?" I responded with a laugh. Before Maddy could respond another voice interrupted us.
"y/n?" I turned to see Hailey making her way towards me. Hailey was a sweet, smart, level headed girl. She had black hair that matched her almost black eyes, she was pretty but nothing compared to Cassie. She was in the year above me and was also the girl I had the disaster date with.
"Hailey" I couldn't help but feel awkward in the girls gaze, I could feel my cheeks start to warm the closer she got to me and my friends.
"I was hoping to see you" She smiled, like I said she was pretty, she would make anyone melt with that smile but I couldn't help but compare her to the girl that was just stood my right leaning against the locker watching the whole ordeal. Cassie was the opposite of her, blonde, blue eyes that you couldn't help but fall in love with.
"You were" I finally found my voice again, my cheek redding even though you'd think it wasn't possible.
"Yeah of course I was. You said you'd message me and you didn't" I did but I didn't think she'd want to hear from me after the date since most of it was my fault.
"I thought you wouldn't want to hear from me especially with how the date went" I looked down at the ground then back up messing with the book in my hand. I watched as the girl smiled again letting out a small laugh while brushing a strand of her black hair out of her face.
"Everyone has had those types of dates before but I still had a good time. I really enjoyed spending time with you" I didn't know what to say, a small panic rising inside me. Not just out of nerves but also because I felt guilty, was I just using Hailey to get over Cassie? You can't go into a relationship like that, can you? "I was wondering if you wanted to do it again sometime, hopefully not as much of a disaster" Hailey spoke before I could. I couldn't help but look back at Maddy out of shock, she seemed to be in as much disbelief as I was. Maddy then glanced at Cassie who was staring at the floor like it was more important than me getting a second date with Hailey. I turned back to the girl just nodding my head not trusting my voice. "Okay, I'll message you the details" She smiled obviously excited, more excited than me but I hope that wasn't obvious or that maybe she thinks I'm just playing hard to get. I watched as Hailey walked down the corridor and towards her friends who smiled at her and walked to their classes.
"Can you believe that?" I turned to look at the two girls Maddy still stood in disbelief.
"No, I mean wow" Maddy glanced at Cassie then back to me. I turned to Cassie who was still staring at the floor biting the inside of her cheek. What is wrong with her?
"Where are you guys meant to be?" A teacher stood at the opposite end of the corridor looking down at the three of us.
"Maths class" I answered as the guy crossed his arms.
"Well, you better get going. You're going to be late." I just rolled my eyes.
"Yeah we are" Maddy shot back walking forward, I followed then Cassie who didn't seem interested in speaking to either of us.

I walked into Maths Class and took a seat next to Kat. Her work already open in front of her. Maddy and Cassie sat not far from us, I could help but notice how pissed off and upset Cassie seemed. Just because she broke up with McKay doesn't mean the rest of us have to stop dating. I opened my book the feeling of annoyance building up in me.
"What's up with Cassie" Kat nudged me as I flipped through the pages getting to the correct page. I just shrugged, if what I thought was the problem she needed to grow up. "What took you guys so long? I thought you were just getting a book from Maddy's locker" Kat changed the subject.
"Hailey asked me out on a second date" A smile crossed Kat's face. This was the response I had wanted out of Maddy and Cassie, I wanted them to be happy for me rather than be in disbelief or just not care at all.
"That's amazing after everything" I smiled not being able to respond because the teacher had started to speak again.

The four of us walked out of the school building not really speaking. I didn't want to start the conversation and it seemed that neither did anyone else. We walked down the pavement towards the car park when a voice called all our names making us turn around.  Walking towards us at a fast speed was Daniel.
"Just the people I wanted to see" The boy smiled looking from one of us to the next.
"What do you want Daniel" Maddy sighed, Maddy, didn't really like Daniel. She never really gave a reason why she didn't like him she just didn't.
"I wanted to invite you all to my party tonight but with that attitude, Maddy your not invited" Maddy didn't say anything she just flipped the boy off in response. Daniel laughed shaking his head. "I'm only joking. If I didn't invite you I'm pretty sure Nate would kick my ass" He wasn't wrong. "So I'll see you guys there" Daniel pointed at us as he started walking back. None of us said anything but he had to turn around as he reached his friends.
"Do we have to go?" Kat moaned as we all turned and carried on walking down the pavement.
"Come on it'll be free alcohol" Maddy pointed out the bright side of going to the party. "Why doesn't everyone get their things from theirs then come to mine, we can get ready together and get there together"
"I think I'm going to go home and just meet you there" Maddy's head quickly turned to look at me.
"What? why?" I didn't really have a good reason I just wasn't in the mood.
"I need to look after my brother till my mom get's back from work" This wasn't so much a lie, a white lie. Usually, I would leave my brother. He was fifteen, old enough to look after himself.
"He's fifteen, he can look after himself" Maddy saying what I was thinking.
"Yeah well, you know how my mom is" I shrugged as we carried on walking. The conversation wasn't brought up again, I split from the group making my way to my house.

My brother was already home, even though I hadn't seen him his shoes were thrown by the front door. I rolled my eyes slipping my own off and placing them nicely. I then headed up to my room passing my brothers. I knocked waiting a few seconds before slowly opening the door.
"I'm heading to a party tonight" My brother was lying on his bed his TV on with a game loaded.
"What party? Can I come" He asked placing his control to the side.
"No" I responded not giving him a second to argue, I shut his door and made my way to my own. I placed my bag at the end of my bed before lying down. I placed my phone on charge to make sure I had enough battery to last me through the night. Only a minute after did my phone notification go off. The lock screen faced me showing the message from Hailey, it simply told me the time and date of our next date and also asked if I was planning on going to Daniels party tonight. I typed a reply and hit send before relaxing into the bed some more.

Before I knew it the time was half nine, Maddy had messaged me saying the group planned on getting there at nine. I had gotten changed since coming back to school, redid my makeup and hair before relaxing again but it was now time to go. I grabbed my phone slipping it into my jacket pocket and walking down the stairs. My mom was sat in the living room, the TV on but she wasn't really watching but rather half asleep.
"Mom" I stood looking over at her. She let out a small murmur. "I'm heading out now. I'll be back later tonight, or I'll be staying at a friends but I'll let you now" Again my mom murmured and I headed out the front door pulling my phone out sending a text to my brother asking him to make sure mom didn't fall asleep downstairs. I made my way down the street and towards Daniels. Halfway to Daniels, I ran into Rue who seemed to not know where she was going. I called out to the girl who then made her way towards me.
"You okay?" I questioned as we walked down the street together.
"Yeah, Yeah I'm perfectly okay" She smiled. I hadn't ever really spoke to Rue other than the occasional hello. Now the girl was walking alongside me.
"You heading to Daniels?" I asked the girl looked at me confused. "The party" I tried to clarify what I was talking about.
"Oh shit, is that where the party is?" She laughed as we carried on walking not that far from Daniels. I just nodded my head with a smile.

We finally reached the party, Rue and I splitting up. She had something about meeting up with Fezco. I just nodded as I watched her make her way through the crowd not caring who she bumped into. I looked around spotting my group of friends, Nate stood nearby as per usual, McKay next to him. McKay looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him up. Cassie was the first one to see me, unlike earlier she offered me a smile and waved me over followed then by Kat and Maddy who had turned to see who Cassie was waving to. I made my way closer to them but stopped when a voice called my name.
"y/n!" I turned my head to Hailey sat on the sofa surrounded by her friends, all the year above me. "Come over here" She waved. I looked back at the group the smile has gone from Cassie's face. Kat gave me an encouraging look to join Hailey. Maddy now wore a look like McKay's. I turned to make my way towards Hailey who said something to the person on the sofa next to her. The person stood up walking away from the group. "Sit" She smiled tapping the seat next to her. I just smiled taking the seat next to her. "I'm so happy you're here" She smiled before I could respond she started to speak. "I would like to introduce you to my friends..." Hailey went on to list her friends but I could help but look over at Cassie who was now taking shot after shot. She only drank like that if something was up with her. "y/n?" I turned back to the girl, the girl that was actually interested in me.

I spent most of the night sat on the sofa with Hailey and her friends. The more time I spent with her the more I realised that I probably didn't like her more than a friend. I watched as Cassie again drank one drink after another. She was now dancing with Daniel, most likely to make McKay jealous but he didn't seem that bothered. Cassie's eyes left Daniel and met mine, I kept her gaze till yet again Hailey brought my thought back to her. "y/n" she took my hand in hers. I fought the urge to pull my hand from hers, she was just being nice. I watched as her eyes left mine and looked behind me out of confusion then back. Guilt eating up at me. If she thought anything she didn't voice it. "You okay?" She seemed to force a smile, I could tell it didn't reach her eyes like a genuine one. I just nodded with a smile as forced as hers. "There's something I want to try" The girl then started to lean in. As she got closer the light freckles on her face becoming more obvious. Before I could do anything a huge smash drew everyone's gaze. Daniel now stood a broken glass vase at his feet, the one that had been just behind them as they danced. I then turned my gaze to Cassie who's whole twisted in disgust. Cassie's gaze wasn't on Daniel but rather me and Hailey. I met cassie's eyes and she looked away at Daniel then around the room before quickly leaving. Without thinking I stood up and followed the girl. Daniel must have done something.

I walked up the stairs after asking a few people if they had seen what way she'd gone. I looked through each room before finding Cassie. Cassie was sat on the bed looking up at the ceiling. I entered the room shutting the door.
"What did Daniel do?" I asked as I stepped close. Cassie turned to look at me, her eye's glazed over. She scoffed shaking her head. "Come on Cass, what did he do?" I took another step forward waiting for her to respond.
"He didn't do anything!" Cassie stood up a tear slowly falling down her cheek.
"What? Then why did you push him into the vase?" He had to have done something Cassie wasn't the type of person to randomly push people into vases. She didn't respond but rather walk around the room. "Cass whatever it is he won't get away with it. We'll tell Nate, he'll handle it" I hated that I suggested it but if anyone hurt Cassie I would turn to Nate.
"I pushed him to cause a distraction!" Her voice carried nothing but frustration, another tear falling down her cheek. Cassie quickly wiped it away.
"Cause a distraction? Why? Was McKay doing something? If he did I didn't see it" I moved a strand of hair behind my ears waiting for the girl to speak. Cassie just kept pacing around the room. "Cassie c-" Before I could finish my sentence she cut me off.
"It wasn't McKay it was you!" What? Was she causing a distraction so that I didn't kiss Hailey. Why would she do that? There's no reason for her to do that. "God" Cassie walked around the room. My eyes following her as she did.
"I'm confused" I finally voiced the girl stood and looked at me.
"God" She said again pacing. Her hands went to her hair gently pulling at it. "You say I'm the naive one" She turned back to look at me. "Have you wondered why I've been avoiding you. Why I broke up with McKay. Why I tried to stop you kissing Hailey."
"I don't know" I said being honest. I had no idea why she did any of that stuff.
"Because I like you" Her voice came out less confident than all the other statements.
"You like me?" I said out of complete shock. The girl just nodded. She had to be joking was the first thought in my head. "This has to be a joke" I voiced, the girls face twisted.
"This isn't I joke" Cassie crossed her arms looking down at the ground then back up. "I guess I've always liked you but was too scared to admit it" The girl walked around the room again before sitting down. "I guess part of me was scared. One major thing being scared that I was going to lose you as a friend" I walked closer sitting down on the bed next to her.
"Cassie I've had a crush on you since I've met you" The girl smiled nodding.
"Yeah, Maddy told me" She replied surprising me. Wow, tonight is just full of surprises.
"Maddy told you?" I asked tilting my head to the side.
"Yeah well after I told her I had developed a crush on you" She responded. "Don't worry I only told her today, you haven't been left out the loop for too long" Cassie nudged with a smile. I rolled my eyes. "When I heard about you and Hailey and the date it made me jealous, I had to leave" I nodded my head understanding. All the time's Cassie spoke about McKay and their dates. "I told Maddy after Lunch that's why she wasn't excited for you when Hailey asked you out on a second date" All the events from earlier explained. I nodded waiting to see if the girl was going to say anything else but she didn't.
"I only like Hailey in a friend way, maybe not even that" I leant back on the bed.
"That's good" Cassie smiled with a laugh, I turned with a smile shaking my head. "So since you're not into Hailey what about going on a day with me" I pretended to think the idea over watching Cassie from the corner of my eye.
"I guess I will" I laughed turning to Cassie who pushed my shoulder rolling her eyes.
"Guess you've got to go break the news to Hailey" Cassie seemed to enjoy the idea of that.
"I guess I should" I stood up from the bed. "I'll see you a little later" I walked towards the door and started back down the stairs.

I passed a few individuals, one being Maddy who just squinted her eyes at me but I wasn't going to give anything away to her just yet. I carried on walking through the party and towards where me and Hailey had been sat previously. Instead of Hailey and her friends, it was just Rue lay across the sofa her hand over her face.
"Hey Rue" The girl slowly removed her hand from her face and turned to look at me.
"What's up?" She seemed half there which I wish I could say was odd for Rue but it wasn't.
"Did you see Hailey" Rue looked off to the side in thought. "Wavy black hair, almost black eyes, rather tall..." I started to describe the girl who was still thinking. After a few seconds, she finally spoke again.
"Yeah I think she went outside" She pointed her thumb towards the door that leads outside. I nodded as a thank you before walking out the back door. I opened the glass door and walked out. Outside was just as packed as inside, more teens with drinks all stood about talking. I scanned the crowd looking for the face I wanted to see. After a few more seconds I spotted Hailey stood to the side. I walked through the crowd reaching Hailey.
"Hey, Hailey" The girl greeted me with a smile. Her friends all nodding to acknowledging me. "Can we talk?" I asked.
"Yeah sure, what about?" She moved her drink from one hand to another.
"Can we got somewhere more private" I looked around her group of friends who quickly avoided my gaze.
"Yeah sure" Hailey started to walk to a corner where there was almost no one around. I followed behind feeling guilty. Hailey was really amazing but I just didn't like her like that.
"So I was thinking about our date" I started watching to see any emotions on her face but there was nothing. Hailey nodded her head waiting for me to continue. "I don't think it's for the best. It's nothing to do with you. It's just..." I started to rambling looking at the ground then back up at the girl who was now wearing a small smile.
"It's Cassie right?" Hailey crossed her arms. I just nodded my head. "I saw the way she looked at you. How she causes that distraction when I tried to kiss you. You also like her and I'm guessing you've liked her for a while"
"Yeah, I'm really sorry" Hailey again offered a small smile shaking her head.
"y/n stop apologising. I get it you can't help who you like" She tilted her head to the side still with a smile. "Look I'm gonna go back to my friends but I really hope we can still be friends"
"Shouldn't I be the one saying that?" I laughed, Hailey did to. The two of us then went our separate ways. She went back to her friend and I went to mine and Cassie. I couldn't believe I actually had a date with her.

I'm sorry this took me so long. I just haven't felt like writing. I'm currently in a mood where I want to. I think it's just procrastination of not doing my work.
Hope you guys enjoyed
