Carl's POV
I stood in the empty field surrounded by nothing but fog. I had been separated from the group and I felt like I had lost everything. Suddenly, I heard the voice of my dad calling for me. I ran in that direction and refused to stop until I found something. I found the group again. But they weren't themselves. They were walkers.
"NO!" I yelled as I opened my eyes. Everything was normal again. The only things I could hear were my heavy breathing and my racing heartbeat. I felt sweat running down my face. I sighed in relief.

Y/n's POV
I woke up to a "NO!" coming from below me. I recognised the voice. It was Carl.
I waited a few seconds to think. Why was he yelling? Isn't it like 2am?
I ducked my head under the top bunk to see Carl sat upright on his bed, sweat running down his forehead.
"Carl, what happened? Are you okay?" I said, trying to comfort him.
Carl sighed. "I had a dream. That you, and everyone else, was a walker. I was all on my own. I had no where else to go."
I've had dreams like that before. You never forget them. They stay in your mind forever. You can't escape them. No matter how much you try.
I looked Carl in the eyes. "Carl," He looked up at me when I said his name, his blue eyes sparkling, even in the darkness. "Don't worry. It's just a dream. It's not real. It won't ever be real. I'm here. I'm alive. So is everyone else. So are you."
Carl gave me a small smile and hugged me gently. He's always been so nice to me.
"We should go back to sleep. It's 2am." I chuckle, breaking away from the hug.
"Uh, about that," Carl says, scratching the back of his neck, "Can you stay down here, with me? Not in a weird way-"
"It's fine," I stop him from finishing his sentence. "I'll stay with you, if you want me to. Anything to make you feel better."
We both lay down and stay there awkwardly for a few seconds. The bed is way smaller than I anticipated.
I turn around slightly, laying my head on Carl's chest. I listened to his heartbeat. At first, it was quick, and anxious, but it slowly became calm, and more relaxed.
Carl wrapped his arms around my waist and I placed mine on each side of his slim body. I was comfortable. I felt safe in his arms. Safer than I've ever felt before.
"Goodnight, Y/n." Carl said.
"Goodnight, Carl." I smiled to myself.
We both fell asleep in eachothers arms, forgetting about everything bad that has happened to us. The only thing we cared about was eachother.
