Carl's POV
I woke up to a cold breeze surrounding my cell. I shivered and pulled the blanket over me, trying to get some more sleep.
"Carl," I heard my dad whisper-shout. (A/N: I hope you know what I mean by that :D)
"What?" I whispered, rubbing my tired eyes.
"Come here." My dad said, motioning for me to follow him. I got up and followed him to a window. "Look." He pointed outside.
The once green grass was covered in thick, pale snow. I smiled to myself. It seemed like snow had gone extinct in the new world, but apparently not.
"You should go outside," My dad said. "Have some fun."
I went back to my cell and got changed to go outside. Then I realised how boring it would be to go out there on my own.
I walked to Y/n's cell, which was two cells down from mine. Y/n was still asleep so I shook her to, hopefully, wake her up.
"Hey," I whispered, trying to wake her up. "Hey, Y/n."

Y/n's POV
I woke up to Carl shaking me and whispering my name. In my raspy, morning voice I managed to say a quiet "What?".
"It's snowing outside! Come on!" Carl said smiling. At first, I didn't believe him. Snow? In the end of the world? It didn't seem real.
Carl left the cell so I could get changed and once I was ready, we went outside. It was freezing.
I stood there in silence, I was so cold that I could barely move. I hadn't witnessed snow in years. It felt like a dream. Was I dreaming? I wasn't sure but if I was it would be a dream to remember forever.
I fell out of my daydream when a snowball hit my arm. I looked up to see Carl laughing. I gathered a clump of snowflakes and formed them into a sphere. I threw them at Carl and it hit his chest.
This turned into a full-blown snowball fight until we both ran out of breath and collapsed on the thick snow. We both turned our heads to look at eachother and our eyes locked. Of course, Carl had to ruin the moment by laughing, which made me laugh too.
Sometimes I think about what it would be like if me and Carl were more than just friends. And I'll just say that I don't completely hate the idea...
