19 – Hayes
November
I'm freaking out. I took off running, I didn't need to worry about the safety of Ansley or our son. I only had to worry about Hadlee, especially if Janette was high. Fuck, god only knows what she would do to my little girl. I got out one of the back doors, Aiden, Cole, and Jordan all pulled up in their trucks.
"Get in." Aiden threw his passenger door open. Behind the Target was a massive partially wooded field then a development.
"I'll head to the other side." Cole took off without another word. I saw Kase off in the distance turn around and follow Cole.
"We're going through?" Jordan asked Aiden. Aiden gave him a single nod and hopped the curb. The split directions and didn't take the foot off the gas pedal. "Aid."
"Where?" I looked over not realizing that Jordan was on the Bluetooth.
"Cut right, someone is running I can't see much else."
"Copy." Aiden cut hard to the right bouncing us over a downed tree, branches scratching down the side. "That her?" He pointed. It was difficult to see but a woman was running with a child in her arms.
"Yea! That's Hadlee." He hit the gas a little harder and came skidding to a stop off to the side of Janette. She looked over stopping for a second when she heard a truck coming to a stop on either side of her, then continued to run. I saw Kase and Cole bust through the tree line and stop in front of her. She was all but surrounded.
"DADDY!" I was already out of the truck, along with Aiden and Jordan and we were running toward Hadlee.
"STOP! DON'T COME ANY CLOSER!" Janette yelled once she stopped and turned around to face the three of us.
"You've got no where to go." Aiden threw his hands in the air.
"Haddie baby, it's alright, daddy's here." I tried to calm down my screaming toddler stuck in the arms of this maniac.
"DO NOT COME ANY CLOSER!" Janette repeated and spun around noticing Kase and Cole on her other side.
"Come on lady, it is five to one. Who exactly do you think you're getting away from?" Kase laughed as he and Cole took a few more steps forward.
"This is my daughter!" She yelled.
"She is not your daughter." I stated.
"Daddy!" Hadlee cried. "Momma I wan Momma!"
"I am your Momma sweetie." Janette said angrily.
"NO!" Hadlee yelled trying to push away and wiggle free from Janette's arms.
"Stop moving!" She yelled at her, Hadlee just tried to wiggle free more. The five of us were slowly moving in closer. "NO, YOU ALL BACK UP!" Janette pointed a knife at all of us as she spun around in a circle. "Stop moving little girl!" Hadlee started crying harder, the five of us had our hands up.
"Janette, you don't want to do this. It ain't worth going to jail over." I tried going with a calm approach. "The cops are already on the way here, if you let her go, you'll at least get a head start."
"NO! She is coming with me!"
"She doesn't want to go with you." I stated. "Let me calm her down." I took another step and she pointed the knife at me. I was about five feet from being able to grab Hadlee but I didn't want her getting hurt.
"Stop it right now!"
"Janette, she's terrified right now. Put her down, let her come to me so I can calm her down."
"You think I'm stupid?! I let her go to you and I'll never see her again!"
"You didn't care to see her thus far in her life!" I yelled, knowing that wasn't going to help. "Listen, this isn't going to end well for you. I know you know that."
"I'm leaving here with my daughter." She took a few steps backwards. I watched terrified for Hadlee as Kase grabbed the knife. Cole grabbed Hadlee, and Kase had Janette on the ground on her stomach, hands behind her back. I met Cole halfway taking Hadlee from his arms and holding her tight against my chest and she cried.
"Well, I guess that training and fucking around with Dean came in handy." Kase laughed.
"Get off of me!" Janette was trying to move away but eventually gave up. The police showed up and put her in cuffs. I stood next to the truck and waited for Ansley to get dropped off by Dean, once she did, we were glued together.
Hadlee finally calmed down after Ansley got to us and Aiden drove us back to my car. We piled in and drove straight home. It didn't take long for Hadlee to go down to bed, and the second she did I put my head on Ansley chest on our bed and let the tears fall.
"It's okay love." She rubbed my back.
"She almost got away with her."
"But she didn't. We got her back, and she's going away for a long time."
"It should have never happened. Ans I never should have taken my eyes off Haddie at all."
"Hayes, you don't have to watch her like a hawk. She's a kid she's going to run off, she's going to scare the shit out of us. She isn't always going to have a psycho trying to take her."
"But she did this time. Fuck." I let out a shaky breath and settled my hand on our son. "I can't lose any of you. I won't make it."
"Hayes."
"I'm not kidding Ansley, for the first time in years my mind went straight to shooting up. Quickly cleared out by finding Hadlee but the thought was there. If we wouldn't have found her, or wouldn't have gotten to her. I don't know if I would have been able to stop my self from a relapse, and that scares the shit out of me. Not only would I have lost her I would have lost you two as well."
"Maybe you should call Daniel. Tell him about all of this." I nodded against her chest. She was running her fingers through my hair. "You know I'm here. We are fighting this together, you aren't alone. If you need to go to more meetings or whatever it takes, we will work through it together." I nodded again.
"I will never deserve your love."
"Shut up." She laughed. "I love you."
"I love you. I'm going to call Daniel." I got up and she nodded.
"I'm going to go lay in the tub, we've had enough excitement for the day." I kissed her softly before watching her head into the bathroom, before pulling my phone out.
"What's up buddy?"
"I uh...I..."
"Tell me what happened. Step by step, break it all down." With those words I let out every single thing that happened in the past 8 hours. "Holy shit dude, I'd be shocked if you didn't feel this way. You know you don't need it though. Your head is still on straight, you've got your girls, and that little boy." He laughed. "I don't have to worry about you at all as long as you have that lady of yours standing there in your corner. She saved you." He laughed again. "I'd have to say you're one of the lucky one's man. Get off the phone and go be with your girls." He hung up leaving me staring at the phone dumbfounded. I dropped the phone down on the bed and walked into the bathroom.
"What he say?" Ansley smiled at me.
"Thank you for saving me."
"What?"
"You saved me." I leaned down and kissed her hard. Putting every single piece of myself in that kiss.
April
"Fucking shit!" I laughed and Ansley, bad move of course. "Do not! You did this!" She smacked my arm as I turned into the emergency room parking lot. "I, holy fuck."
"I'm not laughing at you; I'm laughing at your mouth. They're going to have to tape it shut." She smacked my arm again. "And tie your hands down."
"I actually hate you right now." She opened her door and started walking as I grabbed the bag and hurried to catch up to her. "They better be ready for me."
"Ansley, they are very aware we were on our way. You'll be pushing out our son very soon."
"Better be, this..." Another contraction hit. I held her up until it passed. "Fucking hell." We got through the doors and they ushered her into a wheel chair and up to delivery. Very quickly our son was in our arms.
"If you would have waited any longer, delivery would have been in the car!" Sadie laughed. Our healthy little man had all of our attention though. Dark hair and blue eyes just like his Momma's, I couldn't take my eyes off him. It was then I realized that it wasn't just Ansley that saved me. Hudson, our newest edition, and Hadlee...all three of them saved me, they're all my reasons for being here. Just when I thought I'd never find someone that understood me, Ansley came bursting in to my life...and now here we are married with two kids. Blissfully happy every day of my life.
a/n That's it for this lovely couple! I'm so sorry I rushed to their ending and it may not answer all the questions. I might come back to it later and add more but for right now my heart fell into the next story Aiden and Blair...and I just couldn't leave you guys hanging on any longer for the rest of this one! I do promise that Aiden's story is totally worth the rush <3
