To the hospital
It was a long ride.
It was on my head
they cut on that night.
I looked at your faces
To remember all the creases.
When I went to sleep
I was in Gods graces.
When I woke up
I'd forgotten your faces.
My memory of you all
Lost in deep spaces.
You kiss me gently
Then went for our kids.
Ashamed to be faced
My memory had hid.
The nurse then said
It'll all come back soon.
Then you all walked in
And my heart shot the moon.
I knew them all then
Standing by your side.
But where exactly did my memory hide?
The hardest part
The woman with dad.
He kept her near
Which made me get mad.
I didn't really
want her here.
She's not my mom
She should be here
I look for my mom
Wondering where she had went.
I wanted her here
So where had she went?
My head was a cluster
And time sure did pass.
Dad didn't stay long,
Not long enough to ask.
Soon after they left,
The fuzziness passed.
And remembered my mom
had fatally passed.
My head and heart
Both ached with pain.
My husband so dear
Got me through it again.
Three days later,
I was at home and at rest.
Trying each day
Doing my best.
Since my surgery
I've had ups and downs.
But my memory gets better
As the days come round.
