It was a tale as old as time
Boy meets girl, they both fall in love, live happily every after... the end
That's how it usually works right? , well for most fairy tail girls at least, however Elizabeth was no ordinary girl, never was and never would be
It all began that rainy afternoon, the type of afternoons where not even the mice and the flees would walk around the streets, as the dingy cold aroma ran miserably through the old towns
The type of day were your toes were forced into curling up inside your shoes as the cold air jabbed at the thin piece of cloth which wrapped around you're feet
But for Elizabeth, that day was not so much of a daunting one, but a day of new beginnings, even as the clouds poured their rain heavily on top of her head, she remained still, with a crooked smile forming on the right side of her face
The reasoning for this? A new member was to be added to her scout team, and not just any ordinary civilian who lived with the pathetic fantasy of saving their race,
No he wasn't anything like that
This new recruit was promising, dangerous, impressive and above all else,
A killer machine which would slaughter the thousands of buffoons humanity nicknamed "titans"
A few moments passed by until non other than the infamous commander Erwin Smith came treading along, standing next to the shivering girl in the dark dingy streets as the reality of the dropping temperatures began to take an toll on her body
"You look cold there sister, would you like me to fetch you a larger jacket?" Spoke Smith, uncomfortable observing his shivering younger sister
Instead, she replied with a toothy grin as she teasingly punched the commanders arm
"I don't need no jacket silly! What i need is to finally meet my new team mate!"
She continued
"I heard his from... well down below? Is that true"
A flash of annoyance passed through the commanders face,
He occasionally found his sisters gossiping tedious, today was one of those days
"I don't know who could have leaked you that classified information"
Elizabeth noticed how he placed emphasis on the word "classified"
"But yes, you are correct, he is from the lower cities"
Elizabeth's eyebrows instantly shot up, she wasn't half expecting the rumours to have been true
"well then.. this only means he will make a much more interesting team mate than half of theese losers" said Elizabeth looking around at the couple of scouts who stood behind her
being the sister of one of the top commanders in the scout regiment had its advantages, one was being the captain of her very own team, she nicknamed them, the Elizabeth squad
a couple minutes passed by until the anticipated guest was formally escorted to the street where he had planned to meet his new captain, team, commander, and the new chapter of his life
it was almost like watching a slow motion dream for Elizabeth, watching the sullen man approach steadily towards them,
she instantly took his appearance in, dark hair.. extremely dark under the thick clouds which remained to hover above, one could have even described his hair as being as black as a winters night sky. the same could have been said about his eyes, hollow, heavy eyes which stood out awkwardly against the contrast of his pale skin. Elizabeth couldn't help from wondering if the guy was even alive
although facial features weren't the only noticeable thing about Levi Ackerman.
the man stood at exactly 160 centimetres tall
1 or 2 more than Elizabeth smith
"ah Levi, I'm delighted to see you decided to take up my offer and join captain Smiths team"
levi glanced sharply from Elizabeth to Erwin, giving a sense of tension as the heavy silence in the air grew thicker as the seconds passed by
"this team you proposed for me to join.. it isn't yours?" he asked sourly, sending a sudden sense of annoyance through Elizabeth's body
did he think her team wasn't good enough because she was running it instead of her brother?
"maybe i should have specified,.. let me introduce you to my younger sister, Elizabeth Smith, she will be your captain"
levis eyes shifted from commander smith to Elizabeth, resentfully looking her up and down as the realisation he would have to follow the orders of the commanders little sister hit him, it wasn't without a doubt to him he had no reason to respect or obey any of her commands as the woman looked around 9 or 8 years younger than him
unlike levi, Elizabeth was not about to spend the next year of her life trying to passivly aggressively get along with her partner.
so with a confident grin, and a chin placed high, Elizabeth stuck out her hand at him and cheerfully said
"im sure we'll make a great team! welcome to the Elizabeth squad, Levi Ackerman"
They both didnt know it yet, but from that point on, both of their lives had changed for ever
