"No! No! Nope—not happening!"
"Stop acting like you're in control of Y/n and mine's relationship Zachary—what's wrong with her teaching me how to swim?"
Zachary balled his fists as the thought of he and Y/n being half-naked in water together.
"Then I'm coming—"
"Hell no! You'll fucking drown me when I'm distracted!"
They heard a small laugh from the den.
"He can't—because I could die if that happened. Come on Zachary, nothings gonna happen, you promised to give him a chance and yet every time we plan some quality time you complain."
"Fine. Just go."
Zachary turned around and fled.
He was mad, very mad.
She kept spending time with him! Every time he was doing something else, she was with him! He felt as though he was taking her away from him.
"I fucking swear, she's mine. He doesn't need to learn how to swim! Fucking useless..."

"Damon!"
She ran into the water thinking her mate had gotten hurt only to be snuck up on from behind.
"Boo!"
He grabbed her and dunked her underwater quickly.
"Hey, I thought you got hurt! Don't sneak up on me like that."
She laughed a bit at the end and tried to get back onto land.
"No—stay in here with me."
"But I have my clothes on, it's uncomfortable."
He pouted.
"Fine...hey—uh I think I'm getting the hang of this. I don't have to flop around anymore to stay up."
"That's good."
He hopped out of the river after Y/n, practically following her like a little pup.
He couldn't help but notice how her wet dress hung to her body.
Fuck, she's hot...
"Maybe we should head back, I don't want to worry Zachary too much. I already kind of feel bad for just leaving him, but on the other hand he does need to understand you're also my mate and I'm giving you a second chance."
She gathered the small fur blanket that she sat on earlier and led the way back to the pack after he dried off.
Damon would usually walk beside her, but he had a bit of an issue in his pants.
Her wet dress clinging to her body didn't do a good toll on him.
He wanted her, but she told him he needed her consent. And of course he agreed, but suddenly all the thoughts of Zachary kissing her at random moments, cuddling her, putting his hands all over her without even asking... came to his mind.
It angered him.
How could he do everything without her consent, but he can't even get a peck on the cheek?!
It's not like Y/n told him no, it was only Zachary who would deny it.
He doesn't have any control of my relationship with her! He doesn't get to decide want she can and can't do with me!
He stopped walking and eventually Y/n did too after hearing his footsteps stop.
"Damon? Is everything okay?'
"No."
She was taken aback a bit but none the less eased towards him.
"What's wrong?"
Damon's boner was long gone now, his mind now full of jealousy.
"It's about Zachary..."
She nodded and encouraged him to go on.
"Its just—it's not fair. Why can't I get the affection Zachary gets? Why can he do anything to you without even asking? Why do I have to get his permission to be alone with my mate? I'm touch-starved Y/n... please just give me at least a--"
He couldn't even finish his sentence as Y/n suddenly jogged up to him and kissed him on the lips.
Her arms wrapped around his neck and he picked her up a bit while kissing back.
Holy shit... this feels like heaven. Maybe even better than heaven.
It was a lighter kiss, but it still sent sparks between them.
After a minute, she separated first for air.
They just stood there, staring at each other for what felt like an hour.
It was only a minute though.
"I'll talk to him. You're right. But--back to asking my permission for everything; you don't have to do that. I don't like admitting it, but unexpected kisses make me happy. You and Zachary are equals in my eyes and you should be treated as such. It's more for stuff like intercourse or scenes in that area that my consent is needed to be asked before and during, along with yours and Zachary's."
Damon couldn't help but smile.
This was way different than the cells. If they ever spoke their mind like he just did, he'd get sent to the "room" to get burned and whipped.
But he understands that his mate isn't like that.
She understands him.
Probably the first person he has met to do so.
"Now come on, Angela and I are making a pie tonight. Being the baker I am, I know how to make most pastries from scratch and I'm sure you'll enjoy it."
"What's a pie?"
She laughed as she grabbed his hand.
"You'll see."

"What the hell?! Did he do something to you? Did he threaten you? I don't understand!"
"This is what I mean. Damon has proved to me he won't hurt me again and yet he is still being controlled by you. Of course I'm not going to forget what he did, but did he even know any better? He keeps working hard to make sure I'm perfectly fine and to make sure he is educated on things. So I'm just asking you to stop acting like your the boss in his and my relationship..."
He only stared at her.
"You like him more than me, don't you?'
"No! You're equals in my eyes. But right now of course I'm on his side because he needs me. Just like how you need me, and how I need both of you. I know I'm only a human and still know practically nothing about your point of view in the world or any werewolf's point of view, but I know that mates are seen as equals."
Zachary huffed and sighed.
"First of all--don't you degrade yourself of just being a 'human'. You know you're so much more than that, but--"
"ALPHA!"
Some pack members rammed through the closed entrance of the den.
"Come quick! There's some older werewolves attacking the pack! They aren't from the council and have already killed three pack members!"

Also- I got a computer so typing is now going to be much easier.
And...was this too short AGAIN!? Ugh I feel so fucking bad, but these steps are necessary for the near ending.
