(WARNING!!! This will include spoilers for season 3!!! You have been warned!!!)
My theory on how Mikasa and Levi are related. In the years that AoT occurs, when people were married the woman would get the mans last name, and so I've blocked out the idea of M's(Mikasa's) mom being siblings with L's(Levi's) mom and uncle K(Kenny) since they were born with the last name "Ackerman", and she got it by marring her lover. And looking at K's memories of the family, it doesn't seem like he knows of him having any other sibling but L's mom, and so I've completely blocked out the idea of L & M being cousins. And since L was an only child, M's dad couldn't be his brother, and so I'm also blocking out the idea of them being uncle and niece. And since we don't see L or M's grandparents (or anyone's grandparents aside from Armin and technically Eren), it could be possible, that M's dad is a cousin to L's mom and K. It would make sense, cause I'm pretty sure cousins in that time didn't know much of each other's existence, and so it could be possible. So my conclusion is, that Levi's and Mikasa's parents are cousins.
This is just what I think, you don't have to agree with me.
