HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KUROKO! :)

Here's a little something for you.

----------

Having Kuroko as a boyfriend was an adventure, a challenge every single day.

Why?

You had to think of several different ways for him to show his emotions. Which you were sometimes, sadly, epically failing.

But today was special, it was his birthday so you had to do something extra special. You wanted him to be happy, you longed to see that delighted look on his face---the one he showed to you when you said yes to his confession.

And because you loved him a whole lot, you were willing to do anything.

"Huh? Why are you asking me??" Kagami exclaimed, throwing you a what-the-heck look.

Yeah. You decided to ask your boyfriend's light in hopes that maybe he could enlighten your mind with something since you had no idea what to do.

"Because you're his bestfriend, maybe you know what he wants for his birthday," you said, throwing him an odd look. He was acting like a kid who got asked who his crush is when all you asked was a simple question.

What does Kuroko wants for his birthday?

That simple.

He scratched the back of his head then looked up, as if the answer was written on the sky. "Kuroko is not the materialistic type of guy. I'm sure he'll like anything as long as it's from you."

You quirked an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"

He popped a vein. "If you won't believe me, then why bother asking?"

"Jeez.. Okay." You rolled your eyes, but then gave him a smile after. "Thank you, Kagami-chan."

Ironically, even after talking to Kagami, you still had no idea what to get or do for Kuroko for his special day. You asked the rest of the basketball team as well but they gave you the same answer as Kagami's. You even took the risk of asking Mitobe, which obviously, only gave you a load of headaches because Koganei wasn't with him that time.

Feeling down and miserable, you'd been on edge the entire day. You started avoiding Kuroko too because you were ashamed that even though you had been dating for months, you still hadn't figured out what he liked.

You groaned.

You knew that the basketball team had already planned or prepared something for their shadow. You heard it from Riko, they were preparing a party and she even asked you, being the celebrant's lover, for help. You agreed to help them later after you solve your own problem, of course.

"[Name]-san."

You flinched and nearly screamed the living daylight out of you when you heard that faint voice all of a sudden. You turned to your boyfriend who just popped out beside you out of nowhere. Well, as always. "Tetsuya-kun, what are you doing here?"

He stared at you for a good minute before answering your question. "We were supposed to eat lunch together."

"W-We were?" You scratched your cheek and smiled awkwardly, cold droplets of sweat were trickling down to your temples because of guilt. "I guess I forgot."

"You forgot what day is today too, aren't you?" he asked, sadness and disappointment were evident in his eyes and voice.

You immediately shook your head. "I didn't. How could I forget, Tetsuya-kun?"

"Then why are you avoiding me?"

"I am? I'm not avoiding you," you denied, looking away in attempt to hide the truth which he could apparently see from your eyes.

He cupped your chin to make you face him once again. You nervously gulped at his touch. "Tell me what's the problem, [Name]-san."

You knew you couldn't lie from him, he just knew you too well. So you gathered all your thoughts and took a deep breath. "It's your birthday and I don't know what to get for you. I'm your girlfriend but I don't even know what you like. I'm a failure as your lover, Tetsuya-kun."

He blinked his eyes twice then chuckled quietly. You stared at him, wide-eyed. There, he just laughed. It may just be for a while but he did. And it was wonderful and amazing.

He had the gentliest and nicest laugh in the world.

"You're so silly, [Name]-san."

You puffed your cheeks and pouted. "Well, excuse me for being silly."

"You don't know what I want for my birthday?" he asked, smiling.

"I don't. Please tell me so that I can make you happy."

He cupped both sides of your face and leaned his forehead against yours, your noses bumping against each other. "You, [Name]-san. I want you to be by my side today, tomorrow, and always."

You opened your mouth but couldn't bring yourself to utter a word, not with what he said and the closeness between the two of you now. You were basically breathing in each other's breath at the moment and it was making you weak on the knees---it was a good thing you were sitting.

"Can you do that for me?" he added, still with a small smile.

You smiled and nodded your head. "Yes."

A warm smile spread across his face. "I'm happy. You're all I want, [Name]-san."

Then slowly and gently, he inched his lips forward to meet yours in a sweet kiss. You closed your eyes and responded with a smile, wrapping your arms around his neck.

"Happy Birthday, Tetsuya-kun."
