"Please," begged the Single Man. "Kill me."
The Woman tapped her chin with a ringed finger, then plucked a lovelydill from a branch.
His screams were muffled by the pleasant music being played on violins, the cheering of guests both old and young. Church bells rang with heavenly clarity.
"Why," asked the Single Man. "Why?"
"Because," the Woman whispered, kissing his cheek. "Wouldn't you hate it? To see love... wasting away?"
She stood up, dusting off her dress.
Then, she skipped down the hill, towards the clapping crowd.
The sacrifice was complete.
