HC#111: Rockstar guitarist Kim Taehyung notices the most beautiful girl he's ever seen in one of his band's concerts. It's a tragedy he knows nothing about her, not even her name. (Inspired by the killer edit below by twitter.com/aiidan_kim.)

He spots her in the third row, dancing with her friends and singing along to the music. He almost never recognizes faces in the audience during performances, especially in a crowded stadium with fans going wild. But here he is, visibly distracted mid-strum, taking full notice of a really pretty girl.

There's just... something about her that stands out. It's not just because she is literally a foot taller than most girls. It's just that she has the kind of beauty that a man does not easily forget. Even a fleeting glimpse of her in a packed room is enough to leave an impression.

He is so stunned that he almost misses his cue for his guitar solo, and Jungkook, their lead singer, gives him a dirty look. Taehyung says "Sorry" with his eyes and proceeds to play the interlude as flawlessly as they have rehearsed.

He hopes she does not move from her spot so he has an hour and fifteen minutes left to just watch her. (He'd never thought about watching someone when he is supposedly the one being watched on the stage. This position has lent itself to a self-serving advantage.)

So watch her, he does. He sees her flip her long hair over one shoulder, smile, and clap happily when the song ends. He thinks he also sees dimples on her left cheek, making her even prettier. And Taehyung is gone.

He wonders if he can somehow get her name and number from the ticketing department without violating any privacy laws, and as Jungkook introduces the next song Taehyung is already thinking of how to cajole Sejin-hyungnim for this favor. Their manager is famous for finding ways for the most impossible of requests. Taehyung remembers that time when, for his birthday, Hoseok-hyung wanted a Kaws figure that was already sold out, and Sejin-hyungnim still somehow managed to get him one.

Even as he thinks that, though, Taehyung cringes inwardly. It sounds so creepy. And desperate.

It's not even his style. He doesn't believe in falling in love at first sight. It's the stuff of cheesy romantic manhwa his younger sister reads, and he's never missed an opportunity to clown her for reading them. He will never live it down if he ends up being the very hero type of those love-centric dramas he does not bother to watch (because all their plots are this stupid).

Besides, he's not even looking for a girlfriend right now. Their band BULLET is currently the hottest thing in the music scene, and with their career really taking off, he just doesn't have the time for a relationship. Even if he did, he wouldn't look for one in a sea of strangers' faces in a darkened concert venue. He doesn't exactly run out of girls literally throwing themselves at him. (He does wonder how in the world they got his personal number, since he's been receiving so many selcas on KakaoTalk lately. He really ought to talk to their company about a staff member possibly leaking his number to sasaengs.)

And even without that, the texts he's been exchanging with that cute singer from another company have gotten flirty as of late. It's nothing serious, but it's been nice.

But as their concert progresses, he can't get this bedimpled, long-legged girl out of his head, and it's a wonder he is able to continue performing at all. He's never been more grateful for muscle memory than he does now.

How often does this happen to him? Once, in an interview,* Namjoon-hyung called him picky, in not so many words. "I can't imagine Taehyung falling head over heels in love," Namjoon said then. "No, he's not a playboy who just takes girls for granted. But he's very... selective. He may think a girl is nice, but it's not enough to make him fall in love."

So no, Taehyung does not feel this way toward a girl all that often.

His fingers move automatically over the frets as Jimin starts the bass rhythm for the refrain. Taheyung continues to play even as he continues to watch that pretty girl with the large pretty eyes, and realizes that what he cannot figure out is why he is so drawn to her. What magnetism is this? What power? Is this really how it feels like to finally, really fall in love?

He cannot pass up this chance. He has to know.

He makes up his mind to talk to Sejin-hyungnim during their intermission. If there's anyone on his team who can find out who she is, it's their Miracle-Working Manager.

(Taehyung does not really pray that often, but he could really use a miracle this time.)
