It was cold, my hands were freezing in this rain. Why did it had to rain now? God damnit. Why? We are only 8 laps away from the end. This is the first time in my karting career it has ever rained. How do I cope.

"And here is Celes coming round the start-finish straight to start lap 23 out of 30"

Goodness me it is heavy. I decided to look up into the sky for a brief moment. That brief moment cost me and I spun round. What was I thinking. I should not have done that. Now I am even further behind the front pack. Currently 7th place with only 7 laps to go. I can't think much. Got to focus.

"Are you sure a literal kid is supposed to be here?" a rival mocked me.

Got damnit not again. Argh!!! Can't let it get to my head. Focus. Come on. As I drove around the car. I noticed my competitors spinning. I smirked. Guess I am not only in spinning. I noticed the rain on my visor is getting heavier as the laps went by but nobody is pitting but the slick tires are not good for these conditions. I have to make a gamble. I can't drive on these tires. But I will drop to 12th doing it. It's a risk. I came into the pits.

Mechanic: Celes what are you doing?

Me: It's far too wet Hyeong. I need the wet tires on now.

Mechanic: Really? Everyone else is doing fine out there?

Me: They are not Hyeong, they are spinning left right and center. I can't drive on these tires. Let's way too wet. Just switch them out now. I can make up the place. Trust me Hyeong. Trust me.

Mechanic: Alright you win. Let me quickly change the tires.

At that point a girl came up to me with an umbrella.

??: Celes are you sure you can win? It's really wet out there.

Celes: I am very aware of that Ji-won nuna. But it's so close to the finish. I can win this trust me.

Ji-won: I understand that. Just be safe out there please.

Celes: Don't worry Ji-won nuna. I will win this.

Ji-won simply chuckled: You are always the optimistic one. But I don't know how you can see in there. It's very wet.

Celes: Fuck it.

I shut my helmet and drove off.

Ji-won: Celes Language!

She shouted. But I knew she would just scoff it off. That's Ji-won nuna. Always that caring older girl I know. Once I got out of the pits. I immediately slid but continued on. I was still on the racing line but went off at turn 4. But I found massive grip. Why? So maybe I should just stay off the racing line. Is it because it has not been seasoned yet? There is not much rubber on it, why not give it a shot. I stayed off the racing line and all of a sudden, my spinning stopped. I found massive grip over there as was catching. I dropped to 13th but by lap 26 I was in 5th. Everyone else is just gambling on staying on slicks but it had become to wet. Everyone was spinning and staying on the racing line. But I was not. My progressive and gentle approach to the karts is helping instead of the off on approach my competitors did which I noticed. It made the corners which often times where I gained my time even faster and was catching 20 seconds a lap and rapidly closing in on everyone. By lap 28. I had overtaken everyone for the lead of the race! Everyone was shocked. I managed in these conditions to maximize every bit of the corner. The feeling of being never off the throttle and just letting it role through made me so fast and when I crossed the line, I had nearly lapped everyone and second place was a minute behind me. It was a dominant performance and I finally found a style that truly suited me. I did not manage to lose the backend in the last few laps and as long as it was stable, I was going to flourish. Hmph, I know what kind of modifications I am going to make to my kart. I soon got out of the karting. Pumping my fist into the air. Ji-won came up to me...promptly slapping me in the face.
